Aurora Reverie is based on Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. She is a 35 year old gifted human, baker/cashier at Organic Fuel, and uses she/her pronouns. She has the power of dream walking. Aurora is portrayed by Ana de Armas.
a beauty born into a golden cage that was meant to protect her. aurora spent most of her adolescence in a cottage right outside of the very kingdom she was born to rule in. young and naive she never knew more than her three nannies and the woods and while it was frustrating more often than not, it was a nice life. she had the comfort of the outdoors, she had her dusty old books that her nannies collected throughout the cottage, and she was safe. she often spent her days reading about love and tending to the cottage as best as she could. her nannies raised her to be a proper young woman.
still, there was a restless spirit locked deep inside of her. one that wanted to know what was beyond the woods. wanted to know more than her small little world. she never went a day without feeling loved, but she still craved more. a different kind of love and a different kind of life.
meeting her mystery man in the woods changed her for what she thinks is the better. she was enchanted by his good heart and his dazzling smile and while she was breaking the only real rule she had just to share a moment with this man...it felt worth it. it was like every fantasy she had ever read was coming to life and that there was hope for a future beyond what she knew.
of course she would eventually learn that fairytales were just that...fairytales. she doesn't know to this day who told her parents of her meetings with this man but the consequences were harsher than she could have imagined. she was thrown into the royal life, a life she didn't even know she had, and if she had ever thought she was caged before, she was sorely mistaken. years went by as she was forced to adjust to customs and rules she didn't agree with. she had thought she would at least be around more people, but the only company she was given were her maids. she was lonelier than ever and missed the cozy cottage she grew up in. and she only had more questions and was met with fewer answers. she was only given the knowledge of a curse she had no control over.
but that knowledge was enough to motivate her to seek out her own answers on finding a cure while her parents were more worried about prepping her to be a strangers bride. learning of the source of her curse made her seek the dark fae out and well...everything changed yet again for her when her journey took a literal trip into a new life.
aurora did not know what true freedom could feel like until evermore, and even then she was still trapped. there was so much to learn about this strange town, but aurora was determined to face her fears of the unknown and once again seek out her answers. she managed to get herself a job, get herself a home and after years of tears and patience...she was able to start a life that was all her own.
the first time she had stumbled into someone's dreams it was quick and she awoke drenched in sweat with a throbbing headache. it wasn't something she had ever done before or even knew she could do. at first, she was afraid to fall asleep for the chance of it happening again but as exhaustion would catch up to her and her dream-self would wonder...she worked with herself to make it bearable even when stumbling into the worst nightmares she could find. it feels like a curse of its own, but at the same time she has learned so much through peoples dreams. sometimes she is able to soothe a more restless spirit and that made it almost worth it.
while aurora knows she shouldn't wander too far into evermore's woods, she sometimes cannot help herself. she finds a comfort within the trees. she has always loved nature and appreciated the beauty of it. it brings her a sense of peace and a sense of longing for her youth.
she cannot handle feeling like she caged into a place. she spent so long trapped in palace walls that the very thought of not being able to escape makes her breath shorten.
some of her former habits have stuck with her. little hobbies such as embroidery and piano have been her preferred method of escape since she had returned to her parents castle. now they are what she falls to when she is under great stress.
aurora misses her kingdom at times, but she is still unsure if that is because of her duties that were ingrained in her or because she genuinely misses her old life. she doesn't miss the silence and she thrives being able to be out and about when she pleases. there is just this growing guilt in her mind that makes her feel as if she abandoned her people and her destiny. at the same time she finally has a voice and she is finally able to learn more about herself in ways she never could and it feels better than she could have ever imagined.
love is a very complicated territory for her. while she loves to daydream about being whisked away by her one true love and starting a life with that person (due to being fueled by the growing collection of books she owns) she is still afraid of the curse. she has allowed herself a few short relationships that she cut off the moment she felt herself trying to go deeper and while it hurt her to hurt others....it was better this way. she had never thought of herself to be cruel...but maybe everyone was capable of a little bit of cruelty here and there.
aurora always keeps a fresh bouquet of roses in her home. she has always loved them the most and there is something about having fresh flowers in her home that remind her of the good she has had in her life.
