Your 'Here lies the abyss' piece with the two Hawke brother has replies disabled so I can't comment there, but I just wanted to tell you how absolutely stunning it is. I saw it this morning and have been opening the tab to look at it all day. The emotion on Carver's face just breaks me a little bit.
There is so much detail on the clothes and hair and backgrounds, I am in awe. I just wanted to let you know how much I love it.

.BUT tysm 😭🫶💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸!!!! I drew this back in 2022 when I was on a roll for drawing like this, I had the spirit of art flowing through me, massive changes in skill level for me back then 🤩✨ Kind of slumped now but I have to admit this ask got me back in it ohh my god 🫶🫶🫶 (I’m drawing niche McReid that zero people are interested in har har!).
.A couple of things about the image though, I had NO idea how to draw the Fade from DAI refs, so I just thought rocky landscape with free flowing water that just kind of disappears into nowhere. Then I put in upside down versions so it was more non-sensical in a way? Water flows up, water flows down 🤷♂️ And then I put little silhouettes of people on all those bits of floating rock; spirits watching the exchange, lured perhaps by the feelings of grief, despair, or heroism. Also I remember trying at the time to learn how to draw plants (I’m much better now) so little twiggy bits (coral bits(?)) as background filler because what the hell else can I put there ☝️😵💫.
.One thing which, idk if it’s noticeable or not, is that I was trying to convey that Doherty (my custom Hawke) was drawing the blood smear on Carver’s nose with his thumb, a metaphorical passing of the Hawke title so to speak. Hopefully it’s obvious that Doherty intends to stay behind, a final sacrifice to save his little brother, a swift goodbye in the heat of battle and a promise of safety in a single touch. Goddard (my Inquisitor) a man of family and a soldier foremost, watching on, knowing exactly what was happening; his hand hovering over the hilt of his sword. Either retracting in the acknowledgement that he was also going to escape the Fade with Carver; he’d need no blade to run, or perhaps grabbing for it in order to keep Doherty’s last command; promising wordlessly to drag Carver out by force if needed.
.There must have been some silent exchange between Doherty and Goddard, a witness to his final sacrifice; or perhaps he merely stares at the silver band on Doherty’s finger. A reminder of his own wife awaiting him in Skyhold, or a quick thought about Doherty’s own love who would never likely see him again. Or maybe he merely thinks of the soldiers who had died for this cause, the hundreds, thousands even, dead for their bravery in the Inquisition; for Doherty Hawke could never be a footnote in the war against Corypheus.
.And Doherty himself, facing away, his face featureless and unseen, only the closing of his eyes, a silent prayer that his last living relative survive this ordeal. He steels himself, decision made, a lie upon his tongue even if there is truth written in his fingertips. Carver will run, Goddard will ensure his escape, and Doherty will die to see them both live.
.HOWEVER, I am insane enough to point out the detail is NOT there (as much as I’d like) so much more could be added to this, 90% of detail here is just filler squares, Godard’s armour, Carver’s armour, Godard’s shield, even Hawke’s armour is just big squares! AH!! No filigrees, no cloth patterning, Carver doesn’t even have rivets (idk what they’re called) keeping his armour together! Gloves are all plain, Carver should have gauntlets on, Goddard should be wearing some kind of helmet even if this is just art and we want to see faces, and there should be more belts! And a border or some kind at the very least, where is my calligraphy text, where is my floral nonsense AH!!!! Of course this is just me now who’s more skilled (I hope) at drawing and knowledgable about armour (thanku kcd) ☝️🤓💕.
