Late Night Observation
I lie in my bed trying to fall asleep and my mind wonders. It wonders to earlier this afternoon.
After working both at my aunt's and brother's houses, I went to my brothers to take a shower and change. While at my brother's my beautifully intelligent niece came into the room and demanded that we watch Disney's Tangled. She had watched it 10 minutes earlier and after getting a refill of her apple juice, she was ready to watch it again. I wonder what goes through her mind, if she thinks the movie will change after watching it again, or if she is just trying to memorize everything about that movie. I do wish i could ask her but she is only 1 3/4 years old.
Just to fast forward a bit, we get to a part of the movie where repunzel uses her hair to heal Rider's hand (or Eugene i don't remember everything about the movie). She was mesmerized by this part as usual. My brother seeing this told her that he had a "coacoa" on his hand (which is baby talk to injury). He asked for her hair and she ran to give it to him. We then collectively told her to sing so she can heal her daddy's hand. She began to sing the "Happy Birthday" under her breathe, just like repunzel did. She sang this song because it is the only song she knows. She then begins to sing louder and more frequently.
Two things ran through my mind. One was the daughter from the Movie "Crash" when the little girl of the movie steps in front of her dad when the persian guy was holding a gun at him. Her dad said she had this invisible cloak that would protect her from anything. So to save him from the bullet she ran to get infront of the gun to protect her dad. The Persian shot and nothing happened because he was sold bullets that were blanks. I thought about her because she went out there fully believing she was going to save her dad. It made me think about my niece giving her dad her hair. If something really happened to either her dad or mom she would try to give them her hair, and when it doesn't work (if she even knows what is going on) she will be devastated that it did not work. She would lose the innocence she once had if that were to happen.
Then it got me thinking. When i was younger i was the exact same way. Thinking the power rangers were real and that i could be one of them, or i would be like batman, superman, etc. I truely believed it was possible. Then when i got older, i was critizied for what i believed and dreamt. I learned i would never be one of those guys. This information tore my world about and devastated me. This is something i do not want to happen to my niece. I love her to much for her to go through that kind of pain and anguish.
At that moment, watching her sing happy birthday to heal her dad's hand. I caught myself praying. Praying that it would work. I wanted that hair to start glowing and for it to be real. I don't want her to lose her innocence, but with her birthday coming up i know the days of her innocence are coming to an end. And once it does, she will be as miserable and sad as the rest of us.
My niece,
if i could make it real i would. I never want you to realize the truth about alot of the things you probably believe as true. I want you to be happy and excited as you were today.

Astonishment
I maneuvered through the ocean of people, trying to get away before i got pulled in deeper into the vast aybss. I felt like i was a submarine captain, trying to navigate through enemy filled waters without detection. As i made one or to sharp cuts, i finally saw daybreak. Freedom.
I squeezed through a herd of people. i was going to be free until,
"Do you not see the lines?" said a customer. She had black hair and a black dress. Something about her threw off a bitch vibe. I had seen her from a distance but assumed i could avoid her detection. I was unbelievably wrong. She was like a serpent lurking in the grass. Waiting for me to move just to the right spot. Just so she can lunge at me so she can wrap herself around me and suck the life out of me. I looked ahead at the opening that i saw. It was gone, along with my hopes of having a good day.
"I'm sorry ma'am?" I said with hesitation. I have been in situations like this before. Through prior experience i have learned the best way to get out of these situations is to be calm and patient, a way out will present itself.
"The lines are long, and people are going through the ten items or less lane with more than 10 items. Can they not read? why does no one say anything?" She exclaimed.
Before, when i was young, stupid, and nice i would have sat there and let her squeeze the life out of me. I have matured. I will not sit there and let them do what they want with me.
" I don't know what to tell you ma'am. They probably do not know how to read. I didn't see them walk into the lane, i was literally just walking by you, i don't know if you saw me doing that, but i did. Now that their stuff is on the belt i am not going to tell them to take all the stuff off. If you don't like it, you can talk to the manager in the front. Either way they are the ones that will be doing the deed of informing customers that can not read on what the signage says."
she said something to me, but i don't remember. Another opening appeared. I nearly ran through it. i told a manager, and reluctantly he went into aybss...

My Mind
Falls into the darkness
It engulfs me.
Fire!
Fire!
Fire.
The raging inferno
Swallowing them up.
My Mind
Wanders in the dessert
Aimlessly searching for
Why?
The burning smell
Forever a memory.
JFK’s beloved boat, the Victura, is headed back to the JFK Library this week! To get you ready, here’s a photo of a 14-year old Ted Kennedy with his older, brother, John F. Kennedy, working aboard the Victura.
Trapped
Trapped
I live in a kingdom,
Built with rusted walls,
painted over with bright colors.
The colors make the kingdom-
prestigious and rich.
It is not until you get inside that you realize
your trapped in a living hell.
Tyrannical Dictators dethroned
the once righteous king.
His once prosperous kingdom,
dismantled to a wasteland.
To survive
I must wear the mask of the devil.
My mask suffocates me.
Bloody rebellion
Spark around the kingdom.
The revolutionaries try to inspire
change.
The rebellions are not meant as a regime change,
But selfishly allow the planner to escape.
So I plan my own rebellion.
I plan my own escape.
