A great way to start thinking of a colour palette for any project is collecting paint cards from homeware stores.
This is just three from the amount I collected. Ready to cut up and play around next to each other with.

Found some jewellery and beads laying around my house which I feel connect to my theme.
Love the greens coming through on the right, then on the left hand side the purple reflection underneath in the first image.
This company is amazing! I googled fish skin fabric, just to see if anything like that existed, and I was amazed to find you can by leather fish skin. Ordering some samples, so I will upload pictures of the skins once they arrive.
I went to the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A London in April. Here are a few images from the exhibition that I feel relate to my project at the moment. I love the way the ruffles in the first image follow the bodies contours, the way it spirals round reminds me of the break in a wave, the white foam spray.

F Ciment (Pleating) LTD came into our university to show us different pleating techniques. I love the idea of incorporating pleats within my collection, i love how they move when being worn and how they can completely change a fabrics appearance. (Own photo’s)
Found this super cute tea set, which I really need in my life. Had to take a picture for my work, love the detailing, just like clam shells put together and barnacles.
One rainy day with my family I went to Chatham Dockyard. This is my first primary research trip. I focused on textures and particulary like the distressed, rusted look that was happening on most things there due to the age. Was a great day out, highly recommend going. And I also got to make my own rope, the old fashioned way (pictures will be added soon!).
Connecting fluidity of water to existing fashion garments. The folds and drape of fabric relates to the lapping of waves, how the curl into one another to create texture and dimension.
A page of initial research from my sketch book. The tonal range in blues is something I want to expand on through out the project. Layering fabrics and exploring tie dye.
