So i havent posted about my story in years on tumblr ldr blogs (i began to get bored about posting only ldr related things so i became more of a gaming/fandom blog), but i thought i’d share my almost 6 year experience of being (and still) in an ldr. We met online in August of 2009 and made it official November 2009. Let me just say that for the first year and a half ish we were not in a good spot at all. We were both insecure and afraid of the distance, but we eventually overcame those obstacles and we grew stronger together as a couple. We got the chance to meet in person after 4 and a half years later. A lot of people tjought that we would never meet because of how long it took, but we did. He came to Canada (he’s from england) for 2 weeks in May 2014. Since then he came back 2 more times. It’ll be 6 years in November and i can finally say that we have plans on closing the distance. We both finished school last year, and during the last visit he asked me if we could get married (which i obviously said yes to :3). The only thing getting in the way now is me getting a reliable full time job and then we can look for an apartment together here in canada. I’ve been job searching for months with no luck, so who knows how long it’ll take before I can find something. He’s coming back for the holidays for 7 weeks this year and i could not be happier. Saying goodbye to him is the worst feeling in the world, but being a way from him for long periods of time is even harder.
I guess what i’m trying to say is to NEVER give up. If both of you are very loyal to eachother and want to make it work, it will work. Even if it takes YEARS before the distance can be closed, it’ll work. Like i said, it’s almost 6 years for us now, and were finally getting to the end of it. I wanted to post this to give hope to other ldr’s that are struggling with this. It’s a shitty experience but holy hell is the reward at the end of it the best thing in the world. Hold on guys, and dont give up. LDRs DO work out when both partners are committed <3
