how it started vs how it’s going

I LOVE this shot so god damn much. The lit chandelier and vibrant red wall behind him. The lush red vase with what I think are little cupids on it. Shelves of gold-toned books with red-toned detailing. Thick yellow gold framing everywhere. His champagne cravat and dark blue velvet jacket. Dark red flowers right next to him, and even some yellow flowers in the top left corner. Everything here means romance and love and Penelope.

The way he is placed in the shot, behind the others, closer to the wall and the flowers- the production team has done to him what they had been doing to Pen. Colin and Pen have switched places. He’s the wallflower here.

And he looks positively sick. He is at that stage of love where he is physically ill with it. The heaviness of his love is reflected in the heaviness of everything in this room. Just looking at this shot gives me the stomach-sinking, blood-draining, soul-crushing feeling that you can only get by watching the person who means everything to you be with someone else.

Here are some things that made me 👀 at Colin "𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐲" Bridgerton just because I recently read up on Regency Era greetings before the S3 trailer dropped.

Kissing a lady's hand is unacceptable unless it's a declaration that he wants to court a lady or a sign of respect to someone older.

My eyes bugged out when Colin picked up the lady's handkerchief and kissed her hand in the S3 trailer. Though, I was impressed that he used the handkerchief as buffer between his lips and her hand because a gentleman would never touch a lady's bare skin if they're not husband and wife.

That's why I was screaming and going crazy when Colin and Penelope shook hands 𝓾𝓷𝓰𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓭 !!! The ungloved hands reminded me of horny & married Daphne/Simon in S1 during their honeymoon because I knew that touching a woman's ungloved hand is pretty 𝓼𝓮𝔁𝔂 or 𝖘𝖈𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖆𝖑𝖔𝖚𝖘 during Regency Era.

I know Polin is just shaking hands but Colin knew proper etiquette and used a handkerchief to separate his lips skin from a lady's so I KNOW HE KNOWS BETTER!!!!

I genuinely love this candle symbolism.

For her, it’s been burning. For him, it’s finally igniting.

( And actually his candle is already low and a liiittttle bit lit, implying the love was always there, burning so low as to not be noticed, but surely burning nonetheless 🔥♥️ )
