I think I’ve decided on what would be the most logical and faithful adaptation of the Aphrodite scene.
Percy gets in the car and looks up. Cut to Annabeth sitting on the other side of the limo. We see her for a few seconds at most before cutting back to Percy being like “Annabeth??” And when we cut back to her, she’s a different woman and she’s like “Aphrodite, actually.” And then every time we cut back to her from Percy, she’s a different beautiful woman.
That way, we get the visual representation of Percabeth, in addition to the dialogue being about Percabeth. AND it portrays Aphrodite’s canon ability to shift form (or is it altering peoples’ perception of her??). Her “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” power.
Does that make sense?
