emma woodhouse, handsome, clever and rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition seemed to unite some of the best blessings of existence and had lived nearly twenty-one years in the world with very little to distress or vex her.

I wish I understood the beauty in leaves falling. To whom are we beautiful as we go?
David Ignatow, from “Three in Transition” discovered via Whiskey River (via weissewiese)
It was a happy place, filled with love and laughter. So, I guess this is it. Yeah, I guess so.
Why would Andy want you? Look at you! You’re a Buzz Lightyear! Any other toy would give up his moving parts just to be you. You’ve got wings, you glow in the dark, you talk, your helmet does that… that whoosh thing. You’re a Cool Toy. As a matter of fact, you’re too cool. I mean - what chance does a toy like me have against a Buzz Lightyear action figure. All I can do is this.

It probably wasn’t advisable to go to college and room with a complete stranger who I had no idea who they were, or like, you know, share a bathroom with eight other people. That was my rebellion, in a funny way, was my insistence to be normal and do normal things. Every day was a new day, and I just had to see how it went.
Took this picture of two lovely friends of mine, one of the last days I spent in my hometown. Looking at this now makes me feel warm and honored; because even if it was just for a second, even if it was just for the time of a picture, I’ve been part of something so big and beautiful as their love. - Palermo, Italy January 5. 2015.

I think Natalie Portman said something brilliant about modern-day female action heroes, about how even though they’re strong you need to also see the messiness of everyday life, that complexity. Even with Peggy Carter. Can we see her have a really shit day, put her pyjamas on and eat loads of ice cream and weep into chick flick? Can we have her be neurotic, hysterical, funny, depressed and all those things that we all relate to that aren’t regularly depicted because they’re not seen as sexy or comfortable for men to watch and masturbate over?
in front of my mother and my sisters, i pretend love is cheap and vulgar. i act like it’s a sin– i pretend that love is for women on a dark path. but at night i dream of a love so heavy it makes my spine throb– i dream up a lover who makes love like he is separating salt from water.

My longing twists and turns and laughs diabolically—
