          What Connor was idly talking about falls short from his lips, the topic not of much importance that he doesn’t mind the sudden distraction. With the both of them pressed close on the couch, it’s not as though they don’t have plenty of time to talk or sit in comfortable silence as they see fit – the only reason he stops is because it’s hard not to give Chloe his full attention.

            She’s so close that he feels a need to hold his breath even without lungs, eyelids fluttering for a second as she pushes the stray hair from his forehead that always falls no matter what he does. It quirks a smile onto his lips as he fights the urge to close his eyes and lean into her touch. Instead he reaches out so that he can press a fleeting touch of his lips to her forehead, eyes shinning with he pulls back.

                    THE   REQUEST   SEEMED   ODD   TO   CHLOE  ,     but   she   decided   to   indulge   him   anyway.   she   remembers   her   incredulous    ‘you    want    to    braid    my    hair?’    before   she’d   ended   up   on   the   floor   in   front   of   him.   she   didn’t   think   a   police   android   even   knew   how   to   braid   hair.   then   again  ,   androids   had   access   to      unlimited      information  ,   so   it   couldn’t   have   been    difficult    for   him   to   learn.

                    A   SHIVER   IS   SENT   DOWN   HER   SPINE     when   he   begins   separating   her   hair   into   parts.   her    sensitivity    settings   hadn’t   changed  ,   but   connor   always   made   it   feel   like   she   was   on   ten.   she   sat   perfectly   still  ,   breathing   even   as   he   worked   on   her   golden   locks.   had   she   been   human  ,   her   eyes   might   have   gotten      heavier.      she   can’t   remember   being   so    relaxed    in   her   life.

                    HE   PLACES   A   HAND   ON   HER   SHOULDER     once   he’s   done  ,   and   she   glances   back   at   him   with   a   smile   on   her   lips.   she’s    GIDDY    like   a   child   as   she   hops   up   to   go   to   the   bathroom.   handheld   mirror   is   taken   from   a   drawer   and   she   turns   her   back   to   the   wall   mounted   mirror   to   admire   what   he’s   done.   free   hand   reaches   back  ,   fingers      delicately      grasping   the   braid.      ‘     wow…     ’      she’s   beaming   when   she   returns   to   the   living   room  ,   and   she   envelops   him   in   her   arms   when   she   plops   on   the   couch   next   to   him.      ‘     connor !   it   looks   amazing !     ’      elijah   was   the   only   one   who   ever      FUSSED      with   her   hair  ,   but   once   it   was   in   her   signature   ponytail  ,   it   was   mostly   left   alone.    she    plants   a   kiss   on   his   cheek  ,   smile   never   faltering.      ‘     i   love   it.    thank    you.     ’
