pov: your boyfriend suffers from chronic migraines (with aura)

Fun fact: Red tinted lenses are often prescribed to people who suffer from migraines. This is because the red lenses make visual stimuli less... well... stimulating.

Chance has red tinted glasses. My headcanon is that he suffers from chronic migraines. It was one of the first things I clocked when I saw his design for the first time - like I saw the glasses and I was like, "Aww... poor thing..." How do I know this? Migraines run in my family.

I think Chance's prodrome symptoms are constipation and insomnia, and his most prominent aura symptom is visual changes - like seeing flashes of light. When Chance is having a migraine attack, he's more sensitive to lights, sounds, and smells (on top of sensitivities from autism), and he's prone to nausea and vomiting. Usually when Chance is in the throes of an attack, Jerry is there to make sure he's comfortable and well taken care of.

Not so Fun Fact: Women are way more likely to develop migraines than men, so Chance got really unlucky with the genetic lottery. Can't get a nat 20 on everything, I suppose...

Chance's Design

So my fiancée and I were talking about the designs of Date Everything a couple of nights ago, and we were both in agreement of one thing: Chance's design would be better if he were TTRPGs as a whole, not just a D20. Kinda like how Parker is board games as a whole, and not just one game.

'Cause we both agreed that if we were to look at Chance's design blindly and try to guess what he was, we would both say "D&D" or "dice bag" and not specifically the D20.

But then we went back to the whole "Chance should be TTRPGs as a whole" thing, and we went down a rabbit hole, let me tell ya... We started to flesh out his story line if he were TTRPGs. Imagine if each day, you played through a different campaign that was a reference to other types of TTRPGs, with different variations to his outfit, and he would move around the house to fit the vibe of the campaign.

However, the further you progress his story, you would slowly see him start to feel sicker and sicker until he collapses or ends up vomiting or something. You learn that he was pushing himself too hard and staying up at night to keep all the campaigns going and to make them perfect. Why was he doing that? Because you haven't played with him since your college days, and he never was really good at making friends, so now that he has small groups of friends that join in his campaigns, he's afraid to lose it. So he tries and tries and tries, until he makes himself sick from all the work he does, all the while denying himself sleep and food. (Like... you can't just give him a detail like dark circles under his eyes and just... not flesh that out.)

Honestly I could yap about what we created for Chance's story for a while but I'm gonna cut myself off here. Now that we have created this whole story, I'm of the opinion that this is what Chance's route/love ending should've been.
