& then cid is on his feet , sword in the throat of whatever being was threatening him , despite his condition.

a cold wave of horror fills him , grabbing hold of the sword & slicing through , watching the being disappear into dark ashes. the sword clatters to the ground as clive finds himself at the outlaw's side , one hand pressed against the grievous wound in his side. there's an emotion that grips his chest with cold fingers , makes him fear the blood seeping into his gloves.

he didn't have to use the exact words , clive knew well enough that cid loved him , enough to be willing to die for him.

& clive loved him enough to want him to live .

he looks to jill , fumbling & confused & desperate to save cid , unable to stand losing another person he loves , unable to fail someone again.
