the hat briefly considered Slytherin for Light, but decided on Ravenclaw in the end. Light quickly became a model student and was selected for prefect in his 5th year, then went on to become head boy (Takada, Slytherin, was head girl).
Light pretty much lives in the library; he has a little nook among the shelves that everybody knows not to touch. L often intrudes on his privacy and messes up his concentration, though.
You know how the hat had barely touched Dracoās head before it put him in Slytherin? That was L.
L doesnāt give a fuck about the negative connotations of Slytherin and instead wholly embraces it. heās clever, ambitious, and inclined towards self-preservation, and heās in love with the common room and the view of the lake and the eerie beauty of it all. Plus the Slytherin common room is swanky as hell and is just a gorgeous place to sprawl out on a couch in a tartan bathrobe and read the Prophet.
Light is incredibly good at transfiguration and ancient runes. Heās the number one student overall but those two subjects are his best.
Light was captain of the Ravenclaw quidditch team until he quit at the end of his fifth year. He played chaser. Supposedly, L was very good at quidditch at one point as well, but Light has never seen him play.
Misa and Rem are best Hufflepuff friends!! Also Matt is a Hufflepuff but nobody ever sees him because heās either holed up in the common room or hanging around the kitchens, smoking gillyweed and getting stoned off his ass.
Mello was a hatstall between Gryffindor and Slytherin. (I tend to put him in Gryffindor just because of what Jo said about Gryffindorās element being fire, but I can definitely see him going either way.)
Near was sorted into Ravenclaw. Heās several years behind L and Light, but heās in all N.E.W.T. level classes.
I love llawlietofficial ās idea that Light canāt produce a patronus. :(
Matsuda is a Hufflepuff of the crouching-moron-hidden-baddass style, and still in awe that heās in the same house as Misa-Misa. Heās muggleborn and generally just very excited about wizarding school. (Everybody makes fun of him for bringing his muggle gadgets everywhere)
L and Light being in the same astronomy class and Light talking about the meaning behind his name and then both of them staying up after class together and just looking at the moon
