My entry for shigegou week! It's a small fic. They're aged up to about 14, and there is background satogou, and hints at future shigesatogou.
Fault Line
Tremble and shake We can't rewrite all our mistakes Lovers on a fault line
The things we say When we're both right We ricochet, lovers on a fault line
And we both know You and I will never change But we're holding on until we feel it break It's too late to be the first to walk away When we're lovers on a fault line

Kissing Gary is different from kissing Ash. Neither better nor worse, just profoundly different. Ash is sweet, safe, full of gentle—if not energetic—affection; the familiar touch of his lips on Goh’s is always soothing.
Gary, on the other hand, is new, unknown, brimming with danger. There is something electrifying about the way he kisses Goh, their lips pressed chastely together, but with an unexpected urgency that makes his head spin. Goh emits a sudden gasp as it belatedly falls into place what exactly is going on. He’s being kissed by Gary Oak, of all people! Gary, his friend and rival, for several years now, seemingly from the moment they’d met, and now… how in the hell had they gotten here? Suddenly uncomfortable, Goh squirms. But this kind of discomfort is… not unwanted, which perplexes him. He can’t help but make the tiniest of whimpers in his throat.
Gary chuckles into Goh’s mouth; Goh feels the heat of Gary’s hands clasping his shoulders, holding him in place. Goh’s heart is pounding so wildly that he expects Gary can hear it, and he waits for him to say something about it, to make some remark in that particular tone of his that is both mocking and a bit condescending… But the other young man doesn’t seem keen to detach his mouth from Goh’s. Nor does Goh want him to—
No, that’s not true! He tries to tell himself that, tries to summon up his obstinate anger, but right now, as close to Gary as he is, all he can think of are Gary’s lips on his, moving easily in gentle clasping motions, with less ferocity than Goh would have expected… Not that he had thought of Gary like that, ever, his mind lies insistently. No, not that sometimes, whilst cuddled up in a tangle with a slumbering, snoring, tossing-and-turning Ash, he had wondered what it would be like to kiss Gary.
He didn’t think he’d ever find out, let alone like this. He can feel Gary’s smirk against his lips, and feel the slight scratch of Gary’s light, still semi-downy stubble against his chin. Danger, his mind tells him over and over. Treacherous.
But Goh wants his poison. Wants to swoon against him, to sink into sleep, a deep sleep without any dreams to disturb his repose.
After a few more moments that seem an eternity, Gary withdraws, but he nips at Goh’s quivering lower lip as he does so, catching it between his teeth and tugging on it gently as he pulls back. Then as their mouths break apart, he releases his grip on Goh’s shoulders, allowing him to move freely again.
But Goh can’t seem to. He tries desperately to react, to respond, to rage at Gary for having the audacity to kiss him! And he can’t do any of it!
Gary laughs aloud, with less condescension in his voice than Goh would have anticipated. Gary runs a hand through his wild hair and smirks again, dangerous and self-assured, and Goh feels his stomach flutter and his heart race. He feels his face heat up and he knows his cheeks are flushed. He suddenly finds his ability to react beginning to return, and he snarls; Gary only lifts his eyebrows in amused response. Blushing, Goh darts his gaze away from Gary, whose lips are curled in a familiar, impish and insolent smile. Goh clenches his fists and opens his mouth to speak, to say something.
Before either of them can say anything, Ash’s victory is announced, causing both boys to turn their heads toward the arena.
