1. what's your blog title from? — a quote from shabana azeez in this cultured interview. she’s such a chaos demon

2. latest movie? what did you think? — project hail mary rewatch. loved it all over again

3. what are you looking forward to right now? — getting my hair cut tomorrow. my god it’s so heavy and long and i’m tired of sweating and headaches

4. if you could do anything at all today, what would it be? — oh that’s much too open-ended. I have no idea. I don’t want to make choices so I’d like to do nothing lol

5. drink of choice? — dragon fruit vitamin water

6. hair routine? — I wash it every 2-3 days. redken frizz dismiss. blow dry. flat iron.

7. favourite way to travel? — I love an airplane, it must be said. I love the ambient hum of the engines and seeing the world so tiny yet so vast and going great distances in short amounts of time. And airports are liminal spaces where rules are made up. Have that beer with breakfast! Blankets cost $45. How about a Cinnabon with hot jizz? People watching is peak. Where are yall going?

8. favourite month and why? — May cause it’s my birth month. I also love October for hockey return.

9. favourite time of day and why? — mornings. I like being left alone and I’m usually left alone in the mornings. It’s cooler and I like the potential of the day even if I waste it like always 🙃

10. do you play or follow any sports? — don’t play and never played any sports. I’m very much an indoor kid. But as you all know I am a hockey fan.

11. what kind of music has been stuck in your head lately? — Olivia Rodrigo. Every day it’s a different song. She’s swell

12. dishes or laundry? — laundry for sure. I find dishes an endless Sisyphean task. I hate it. Laundry is relaxing

13. something you learned recently? — Thanks to phone in bed Wikipedia randomizer, the earliest recording of flatulence-based humor dates back to 1900 BCE by the Sumerians.

Something which has never occurred since time immemorial: a young woman did not fart in her husband’s lap.

14. what would you talk about if you could give a TED talk on anything? — ummm movies maybe? idk. mass effect, hockey, why the Pitt season 2 failed. TED talks are just motivational speeches for tech bros and I don’t care about them.

15. piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot? — I don’t know if it counts as advice but my mantra when I’m overwhelmed or stressing is “it’s gonna be fine” because it enables me to push through and endure while it’s hard and reminds me that things very often do work out and end up fine, even if the new fine is different

16. piece of advice you would give yourself 5 years ago? — lol “it’s gonna be fine”

17. do you believe in luck and superstition? do you carry any lucky items, or follow any lucky rules? — look, I’m a hockey fan. I have hockey superstitions and I know there are hockey gods. But that only applies to hockey. I do keep a lucky one dollar coin in my wallet an old patient gave me almost 11 years ago. He’s since passed and he was one of my favorite people. So I keep it for lucky and good vibes.

18. are you musical (play any instruments, sing) ? would you ever perform for an audience? — I played clarinet as a child/through high school. Don’t play anything now. I hate being on stage so nope lol

19. write, type or speak? — type. I can think so it my words more

20. what do you wish someone would ask you? — if I would like $50,000. Yes. Yes I would.

9. What is a moment from a game you'll always remember watching live? — Live on tv: The very first outdoor game with the Pens and Sabres. The snow was perfect and as it was the first ever outdoor game, it felt special and unique.

In person: Geno’s first career hat trick, the game this year against Florida where he scored a hat trick and reached 1400 career points. Sid moved up to 7th all time in career points in that game, too. This game in March 2008 against Tampa (shoutout to @martin-st-louis cause Vinny scored in that game and Marty had an assist) where Ruutu soccer dribbled the puck down the boards

16. If you could change, add, or remove a rule from the game, what would it be? — OKAY LOOK. We all want a clearer, more solidified goalie interference overhaul. But my change is to tracking shots on goal. If the puck hits the goaltender, posts, crossbar it should count as a SOG. None of this “projected trajectory” chickenshit.

25. What is your favorite thing about watching hockey? — The game itself. How play develop in the defensive zone to forwards, how they see the ice and create scoring opportunities, big saves by the goalies, defensive plays. I love how a team gels as well. How they create chemistry and how it translates to play on the ice.

BONUS! How do you celebrate when your team wins, do you have traditions? — On the drive home from Pens games (win or lose), my mum and I always listen to the Pens post-game radio broadcast (shoutout to Sabu in the East End who always called in). When the Habs win I listen to “September” by EW&F because they did when they won game 7 against buffalo this past playoffs and Kaiden Guhle gave us his best white boy moves (ty @mack-will <3)
