These three are back from the gallery. They’ve been up for about six months because of covid. It’s nice to have them back home.
I think it goes without saying that the last few months have been hectic. There’s a lot going on in the world, and processing everything can make it hard to stay creative.
But nothing ever got done from doing nothing. I decided to go back to basics and do a simple landscape. Just getting my paintbrush moving helps to get me out of my rut. Expect more from me soon.
Stay safe out there everyone!
Kicking the week off with an acrylic pour! We had a bit of good weather, so I decided to a pour with some of my left over paints. My sister helped with the filming if you’re wondering what’s up with the socks. Hope you guys are staying safe out there!
Second attempt at giving this guy a resin coat. It has some dips and bumps, but it’s nothing a repair coat can’t fix. I’m loving that it looks like it’s just been poured!
The sun was out, and I was able to take some great pictures. These are three of my favorite 10x10 pours. The colors really pop, and just look at that cell work! I tend to usually use cool colors. What color combinations do you think would be fun to use?
These last few weeks have been crazy, but it doesn’t mean I’m taking break. These two have just got their isolation coat and are awaiting varnishing.
This took me a little longer than I thought it would, but it also came out way better than I imagined. I might touch up the foreground later to give it better contrast, but for now, it’s done. And it photographed well! That’s always a bonus.
Finally framed these two!
The third piece to my Abandoned Scape. I had a friend point out that the window on the right didn’t have to be rectangular. I couldn’t get it to an oval shape that I liked, but I think the curve helps make the space more interesting!
I touched up a few things over the weekend. I’m loving the blue and purple, but ended up glazing in alizarin crimson in some spots and I think it really brought the piece to life ^^
Forgot to post this one a while ago. This planet has a pretty good view of a nebula.
I’ve been experimenting with a different style for the stars. It’s not as colorful as the usual but I like the simplicity of the stars. And a little bit of blue goes a long way in this piece.
A winding path and empty buildings. What is this strange place?
Another two point perspective galaxy piece. I glazed the architecture in ultramarine blue before glazing again in browns. It’s an odd scape but I think I’m gonna make more of these.
This guy is still up at the West Hartford Art League in the Saltbox Gallery until the 22nd. Check it out when you get the chance. It’s an amazing show of small works and has over 100 pieces on display!
Finally done! The process was a little more involved this time around. I normally do landscapes, which are mostly organic. This time around its mostly geometric structures. I was just going to freehand it, but I couldn't get it to look right. So, I sucked it up and drew the horizon line and marked the vanishing points and got to work. It was definitely worth it! I’m super proud of this piece!
When I’m feeling uninspired I do an acrylic pour!
This is a few clips from a speed paint video of one of my earlier pieces on the Galaxy Landscape Series. I finally got it to scan properly so it should be up on my site soon and available as a print. Keep a look out for it ^^
