me when my friends are excited about a book or author I hate but I want to support them while also trying to pretend I have no opinion about it
the backrooms are simply not as scary conceptually if there is Something In Them
the whole reason why they're so unnerving is BECAUSE there's nothing in them!! because they're unrelentingly liminal and lonely and uncomforting. there shouldn't be a monster guy in there chasing you. you should glimpse other humans (?) from a distance but they walk away before you can close the gap and then they're gone. things should run away from YOU. do u get it
"and there was a MONSTERowooowwohhhh" the monster is isolation and banal beige sameness and uncanny valley architecture. you fool. you rube. you're putting a hat on a hat and the second hat is not only unnecessary but it ruins the first hat!!!!!!! "there's a monster in there" great so now it's just another place for a monster to be. ridiculous
"get him pregnant" well thats not my thing but to each their own
"get her pregnant" *takes up my sword and shield* i wont let you do that to her. ......................
Most annoying online emotion is "I have a funny personal anacdote to add to this but it doxxes like all of my personal information"
Why are people now saying "LARP" when they mean "poser". It's confusing.
Everyone is always parroting The Buzzword Of The Month without actually knowing what it means or where it comes from, make it stop
Kinda like how "POV" went from "(implied first person) Point Of View" to "there is a video"

Trans Women Face More Injuries Than Cis Ones (It's Not Even Close)
A new study found that injury rates among transgender women are significantly higher than injuries among cisgender women, based on radiologi
❝Transgender women in the study group suffered 8x times as many head injuries as the controls, 36x as many facial injuries, and 5x times as many chest injuries.❞
So much for "protecting women".
For all those wondering why the title doesn't say this, it's because the study doesn't say this either.
While the cause of the injuries may be obvious, it's not technically known, and science speaks for what is known.
Some (a minority) of the trans women injured reported that it was violence, and some (a smaller minority) reported that it was intimate partner violence, but most did not report anything and the stats are just from the fact that they needed treatment and so went through the radiology department with their injuries.
Getting a lot of reblogs saying "undescribed" and "no image ID" etc, so please be aware that I did add alt text shortly after posting (it was a pain to copy on my phone so I did it on my desktop), but by then, it had already been reblogged by a couple of big blogs, so this alt-texted version is languishing, please do reblog it!
seeing news about the fallout remaster announcement feels like cruel irony to me
microsoft games are a bds boycott target, and because both bethesda + obsidian are owned by microsoft, this includes the games published by them.
microsoft is gonna further profit from a new virtual playground of ~post-apocalyptic bombed out towns in the desert~ while contributing to creating bombed out apocalyptic conditions in gazan towns, by collaborating with israel on so many fronts that bds calls microsoft the most complicit company in palestinian genocide.
and nostalgia-baited fans will still buy it bc playing pretend in a virtual world thats a knockoff of what real life people are currently facing – a virtual world funded by that very suffering of those real life people – is more important to them than simply playing a different game
anyway, to make this rant productive – if you have the means to send donations to palestine, heres some community initiatives:
Mona’s community aid initiative – verified by el-shab-hussein
The Sameer Project – has a british partner org, so UK folks can donate with gift aid here with no transfer fees
Revive Gaza Farmlands – has a canadian partner org, so canadians can donate via direct bank transfers with no transfer fee
Crips for eSims for Gaza – canda-based, so canadian e-transfers saves on transaction fees

Need help with my bills (again)
sorry for making another post so soon, but even though the month isn't over yet i've just been experiencing a wave of expenses one after the other and now i have literally 95 cents to my name and a huge credit card bill to pay off
context, as always, im unemployed, my single mom is raising three kids on a teacher's salary, she keeps a roof over our heads but i need to use my own money for my personal expenses. i was just finally able to get back on HRT after my parents tried to force me to stop for a couple months, and while i'm super happy about it, a single box of T with three shots was almost 150 bucks, so i really gotta cover that all up (specially if i want to be able to keep feeding myself for the rest of the month)
right now my entire credit card bill amounts to around $100~ dollars. of course, since i have 95 cents to my name, any extra money i can pocket will be greatly helpful
$0/$100

btw I am not blaming anyone for this but do you know how bad at teaching most TAs are, and how little support they get at becoming better teachers? sooo much writing instruction is outsourced to people who have never been in front of a classroom before, and to people in the humanities who consider teaching in writing programs to be beneath them, btw. and some of them have been my colleagues and friends, and everyone has to start somewhere, but yeesh. everything’s tight right now but if some minor amount of money could be diverted from [various projects that make universities look good to donors but don’t contribute to teaching], so much could be done !
notice how its littlest pet shop and not littlest pet shelter, littlest pet adoption center, littlest pet rehabilitation. really twisted.
I know this is a shitpost but the toyline being called "Littlest Pet Shop" is genuinely really funny to me.
For those not aware, Littlest Pet Shop was originally a toyline produced by Kenner in the 90s. The toys looked much more "realistic" compared to the Habsro iteration, and the presentation went all in on the pet shop theming - it looks like you're seeing the pet/playset through a store window:
The reputation of pet shops as a good place to buy a dog or cat was already waning by the 90s, and it was certainly dated by the 2000s when Hasbro rebooted the line. The packaging now bore no resemblance to the "shop" theming:
Despite the name and the "How big is YOUR Littlest Pet Shop?" tagline, the pet shop theming is largely vestigial in the actual toy design. The pets are more like little fashion dolls, with accessories, furniture, housing, and even vehicles sized as if there's a whole pet society, absent of human pet owners. Their further anthropomorphized, chibi design only adds to this.
Even the "Biggest Littlest Pet Shop" playset, taken with the rest of the line, looks more like a place that the pets themselves would shop at:
[This isn't even mentioning the numerous non-pet animals that there are LPS of. When the Kenner iteration produced bears and tigers, it was part of a "zoo" sub-line, for Hasbro's LPS they're just right alongside your usual cats dogs and hamsters.]
To hyperbolize the effect of the "Littlest Pet Shop" name, it's like if you made a fashion doll line called "Littlest Human Shop" because the characters go to the mall sometimes
