Imagine your ideal self. Imagine how she behaves, breathes, talks, acts. Imagine her values, wishes, desires, preferences. Imagine everything about her. Create a crystal clear image of this person.
Are you her now?
Probably not but you can close the gap between your current self and your ideal self. Pull out a paper and a nice pen, write down the ideal self's characteristics, everything. Then write down in a different color the current you in comparison.
Voilà. You got your goals, which are to close the gap between the ideal self and current you. Need to lose 30 pounds? Subscribe to that gym or get out that yoga mat, and throw away that goddamned candy. You're committing to it the whole way. No maybes, no 'Ill do this later" or "I'll eat this later I won't eat it" if you feel guilty give it away. If you have to learn a language to close that gap go TODAY at the library to borrow a book about that language to read the basics, then read about that language every single day. No maybes. Its now. Its now your identity.
Catching up to be that ideal person will require EXTRA WORK and you gotta do it now. Not tomorrow. Right this minute. Close Tumblr, go uninstall those time sinks apps, go drink a glass of water then think hard about the ways to close the gaps. Then act on it.
You gotta keep in mind that ideal self is NOT unattainable and shouldn't stay away, like a distant mirage. You gotta start walking towards that dream and get it.
To change is extremely hard, it hurts so fucking bad but you have to accept it. Welcome the change open-handed, else it won't happen. Make the changes you instill your whole identity. If you don't fully accept it, you're telling to yourself that this change is going to be temporary.
Don't be that person that ever dreams, be that person that is LIVING their dream.
