(each pair of role swaps is unrelated btw or else things would’ve gotten really hectic fjskjs)
ramuda: a yakuza from yokohama with an odd interest in fashion, which he uses as his "day job" so to speak. has a lot of connections due to his charisma and charm, which leads him to knowing jyuto. despite appearances, he's very merciless and won't hesitate if it'll get the job done
samatoki: a while after his parents' death, he was approached by members of those who would eventually be chuuoku -- who offered safety for his cooperation. he agreed begrudgingly, so as long as it meant nemu would be protected. as for his job... i couldn't really figure it out lol, yakuza still?? hitman?? ah well
hifumi: as a child, he'd experienced trauma at the hands of the women who'd later form chuuoku. he became a host in order to face his fears -- becoming the most popular host, even beating out those in kabukicho. ramuda approached him, offering to change the world as fling posse. wanting to change the world to one where he'd no longer have to fear women, he gladly accepted
also since i hate separating best friends, he and doppo are still friends lol hifumi moved to shibuya when they were like teens, but they still keep in contact via text and whatnot. when they're both free, they like to hang out. mtr vs fp is kinda interesting for them haha
gentaro: a novelist whose comatose friend resides in shinjuku central hospital. jakurai attends his friend from time to time, and it's there that jakurai heard gentaro weaving stories for his friend and developed an interest in him
doppo: his anxiety manifests as anger most of the time rather than fear, so it's pretty much wild doppo 90% of the time. he got so goddamn fed up with the conditions at his job, he decided to form matenrou with hifumi and do something to improve it but they still needed a third member, and the only other person he really knew was his doctor -- jakurai -- who used to be part of the dirty dawg
jakurai: he is more of a quiet, reserved man who keeps to himself; a wallflower, of sorts. despite that, he's very kind and patient and helps doppo deal with his anxiety and anger issues. jakurai was hesitant to accept doppo's offer, but after helping hifumi with his stalker issue, he decided to join them since he saw they mean well (and hey, they were pretty interesting men).
ramuda mocks him a lot for becoming a third member when he used to be part of the legendary tdd lol ;w;

Nice ending to the main part of "Like Cop, Like Thief." A bit of a cliffhanger, but it still did it's job. Giving us insight into Kairi's character and how his new role has changed him. Keiichiro still says things that gets beneath Kairi's skin, no matter if he wears a badge or a mask.

Though it does end on a cliffhanger, I do feel like it was a fitting ending ehe I’m glad I was able to convey Kairi’s feelings and thoughts properly though! It’s really interesting exploring his new role since he doesn’t have to maintain a certain act like he does when he’s a thief. In a sense, he feels more straightforward even though he does have his own personal issues. And definitely! No matter what verse, Keiichiro and Kairi have a certain dynamic that always includes them butting heads lol
If or when you cover the canon events in your LupinPat role reversal AU, I am really looking forward to your take on the Biker&Cyclone 2 Parter, as well as the Scissor&Blade and Crane&Drill 2 Parters. And let's not forget the opening 3 parter. Either way, whenever you do them, I think I am going to love your take on the canon. I doubt Kairi will be as hot headed and adamant in his chase of the Lupinrangers as Keiichiro was at the start of the series.

Gosh, somehow I’d forgotten this when I was answering your asks last night, but I actually do have something else in the works for this AU at the moment. I was planning on inserting it in between the Lupins and the Pats’ chapters but didn’t have enough time to finish it, but it’s a take on how the Lupin!Pats get together, similar to what we saw of the canon Lupins. I plan on doing something similar for the Pat!Lupins as well. Hopefully they’ll be up soon!
Also, this is a bit of a teaser for Kairi’s upcoming chapter, but I did adapt a part of the Biker and Cyclone arc for it. It’s more on the introspective side, but I hope it’s enjoyable nonetheless ^u^
I definitely agree with you on Kairi! Personally, I think he would view the Lupinrangers as more of an annoyance than an actual problem, at least in the beginning. While he does his job as a cop, I think he’s a lot more lax about it in comparison to Keiichiro. I imagine that his character arc would revolve around finding himself and learning what it takes to be a real cop
Hie. Been loving your work with your LupinPat role swap story "Like Cop, Like Thief". Now THAT is how you do a proper Role Reversal. Keep their core characterizations and and their motivations, just flip their roles and aligns with a plausible way to twist their motives to fit that role. Now, are you going to do more stories set in this new AU, as you have been hinting at, after Chapter 6, or does it stop at Patren #1. I'd love to see you cover some canon events.
Hello~! First of all, I just wanted to thank you so, so, so, so much for your kind words! Words can’t possibly express how happy I am to hear this! I tried very hard to stick as close to canon as possible while also twisting their roles in a way that’s believable, so I’m glad to hear that it’s paid off ^o^
To answer your question: I will probably write more for this AU, yes. But I’m waiting to see how the show plays out before I do anything else. I don’t want to write anything that might contradict what happens in canon because I want to try to stick as close to it as possible. At the very least, I want to be able to take canon and twist it in a way that makes this AU believable. If I get inspiration for something that doesn’t heavily rely on canon events, then I might write something sooner. But for now, it’ll probably be until next year until I do something for this AU ^-^;;
As for your second question: I’m not sure either! At least for now. We still don’t know a lot about him or his motivations, so I’m hesitant to say anything concrete. Since he’s on both teams, he might not even be changed a lot. The one thing I’m sure of is that it’d affect his interactions with the teams, so I’d be interested in exploring the team dynamics!
