I think the myth of Odysseus fits Tommyinit more then Theseus ever could.

Odysseus journeyed far, Odysseus was placed into a war he didn't want to be in, but agreed because of his care for others. Odysseus was beaten down with out mercy, Odysseus did not give up.

Odysseus got home in the end. Odysseus was permanently changed by it all. But he got home in the end.
