saw a post last night saying sonic 2 mischaracterized sonic in the scene where he nearly dies alongside tom and maddie because "sonic never gives up" and "sonic never gets tired" and how it would've been better if sonic ran to rescue them at the last minute while they were hurt or something and i have so many problems with any of this

1) sonic is obviously more of a child in his movie self behavior. Normal sonic is cocky and adjusted to the fight and role he has chosen. Movie sonic explicitly is stated to have been thrown directly into a role in which he must save the world. Movie sonic has only just begun his journey full of uncertainty and danger

2- sonic was literally getting the shit beat out of him of course hes tired

3 - do you realize how boring it would've been if sonic just saved them easily. The point of the scene was the realization that he had a fanily now, that they were willing to die alongside him, and the chaos emeralds took those feelings- his one desire to save those he loves - and turned him super

The sonic movies are not perfect, and its clear they're a different rendition than we've seen before. It doesnt make it out of character, because the most important part of sonic's character has never been his ability or his strength. Its always been his heart and his love to protect others.
