Thanks, Rowan, it’s alright, just try and keep it down.
“I will, no need to get snarky with me. You’ve been plenty loud in this lab.”
“And I am a high stakes killer with about 100 confirmed murders.” Clark purred with a smirk. “But we both know ya still hold a toddler job for a dying company.”
“W-What?” Rowan gasped out, his brain racing a mile a minute to try and figure out if the man on top of him was lying or not. “C-CARMA might not be the best organization ethically, but it’s definitely not dying out.”
“Aaahhhh!” So ya work at CARMA!” The shadow man purred, smirking down at the boy. “How cute…having a big boy job like that….”
Rowan took a deep breath, trying to calm his fast beating heart. “I may seem young, b-but I do have a PhD so I-I wouldn’t be saying it was a big boy job as I’m as big of a man as you are.” He snapped out, before he shut his mouth quickly as he realized what he had said.
“Where ya work?” Clark purred, cocking his head. With the way he made the human so fearful, the shadow ended couldn’t just let him walk away….at least not yet.
“T-That’s classified information, I’m not allowed to say.” Rowan said, his eyes flickering around trying to avoid the other mans gaze. He knew he shouldn’t be terrified, as he was in a crowded place and if anything happened many people could say they saw who he was with, but it was still scary from how he was being crowded up against the wall.
“This thing… This thing doesn’t work.” He told the guy with a smile. “Thanks mate.”
“Your shower doesn’t work? Why haven’t you told anyone else about this? It should of been fixed.” Rowan said with a frown as he took a step closer to the mans cell. “It would be mean to just let you stay dirty.”
Clark clicked his tongue, resting a hand beside the boy’s head against the wall to box him in as the mad man leer down at him. “Would ya now?” Clark mused, cocking his head with a smirk.
“Y-Yes I would sir, I’m not sure why I would be lying in this situation, but I’m not.” Rowan stammered out, flinching slightly at the hand that was placed so close to his head. “I-I really do need to get back to work too, so I-I would be eternally grateful if you just let me go.”
I dunno what you’re doing over there but could you please keep it down? All the noise is making it hard to concentrate.
“Oh! Sorry Theo, I’ll try keeping it down. I guess this machine is running louder than I thought it was.”
“Sure… Open this damn cage and I will happily go.”
“What am I saying? You have a shower in your room, but, um, if you really don’t like it, I-I can take you to get a real one later, when there are less people around, alright?”
“Ya know…” The shadow bender purred, glancing over at the other that was staring. “Ya cast people those kinds of looks and that is how ya get bent over a table.”
Rowan stared up at the man above him, the fear that he was feeling showing on his face. “I-I wasn’t giving you any kind of look, s-so please sir, I’d be grateful if you let me up now.” He stammered out, not really knowing what else to do in that situation.
“Why can’t you take it off? Is it glued to your head?!”
“No? You told me to wear it, and now I’m asking if I can take it off? It’s the polite thing to do?”
“Well, no one should be forced to wear anything they don’t like. It looks cute on you, though.”
“Do I? I kind of feel like a depressed French person but I don’t know..”
“Do you have something to read that isn’t scratched into the wall?” Farrah asked the first person to pass by her cell, gesturing to the brick where someone had etched their own days there on the wall. She didn’t want to think about what had happened to them.
Rowan heard the girls voice as he passed the girls cell, and he stopped short at her question. He turned to face her, his mind flickering through all of the meta’s that C.A.R.M.A kept in these cells to make sure he got her name correct. “Farrah, right? I, um, can grab you one of the books from my bookcase, but I’m not going to be back on this side of the room until tomorrow, is that alright? I could try and sneak a book back to you, what do you like to read?”
“It looks like a normal hat that got sad.”
“That still doesn’t answer my question. Can I please take off this really sad hat?”
“Don’t I always sound like a know-it-all? What’s new?”
“Oh shut up, at least you wear the hat now.”
Gideon laughed, smiling down at the boy. “Nah! Ya look adorable!” The man purred, his thick Boston accent slipping through.
Rowan sighed, letting his shoulders drop slightly. “But I look more idiotic than adorable.” He grumbled, pulling the beret off the top of his head. “Did that make you happy? Making me look like an idiot?”
“Just as I thought, you look like a brooding artist. Whatever.“
“You’re the one who made me wear the fuckin’ thing, and now ya’ll acting like a know it all with what you’re saying.”
“This hat is ridiculous. Can I please take it off?”
