Addison knew she should be more careful. Easton had asked her to take her approach with getting in with some of the female members of the scarlet dahlias instead but her expertise was in winning over men and so she kept her pseudo friendship with Rowan going after the night of the explosions anyway. She’d texted him to meet her at the bellagio tonight for a few drinks and games and the blonde had dressed in a simple black dress to meet him by the black jack table where she was currently hustling a group of tourists. “Sorry boys, better luck next time.” She shot a wink at the dealer who just shook his head, familiar with her antics, as she saw Rowan approaching out of the corner of her eye. “And here he is, the man of the hour.” Addi got to her feet and wrapped an arm around him in a hug. “How are you? Are you and your family okay? I heard about the explosions but I…left before it happened.”
After what had happened, all Rowan wanted to do was return to the swing of things. It meant functioning as if nothing had happened, for the sake of not wanting to worry anyone. Whatever troubles he had, he would keep to himself, and carry on as if everything was perfectly normal. No harm, no foul.
Which was why at her text, the male was only all too eager to meet over drinks and talks. He had a fond liking to Addison, who remained in the outside of everything crazy that went on in his life. From time to time, it was what he needed: to just be reminded that he was someone beyond his last name and his promised future.
Coming up to her by the blackjack table, Rowan was all smiles as his arms wrapped around her frame in arm embrace. “Oh, I needed this.” he playfully said, before releasing her in his hug. “I’m doing alright, as you can see. Fortunately, no injuries in the family.” He couldn’t speak for the others, but the Whitlocks themselves were fortunate to have come out unharmed. Keeping arms to himself now, Rowan stuffed a hand in his pants’ pocket. “Honestly, I’m just glad you got out of there before shit went down. No one saw it coming.”
“Honestly, I’m surprised.”
It was late afternoon at the Red Room and Celina was seated at the bar with a pre-shift drink in hand. She had taken one for the team by working during everyone else’s big night out, and while she was certainly always up for a party, it sounded like she had dodged a bullet by sitting that one out. “A disastrous affair and I wasn’t present? The odds of that happening are usually extremely low.
A brow arched and Celina’s glance slid over to the person next to her. “What, no details? Come on.”
From where Rowan sat, all that could come from him was a deep-seated sigh. The recollection of that horrid night brought nothing but harrowing thoughts. “I say you ought to be grateful. That shit was traumatic.” he uttered, idly swirling the contents of his glass as his eyes remained fixated onto the floor, as opposed to the dancers before them. Not that he didn’t care for them; they simply just weren’t Esme.
Glancing to Celina, all he could afford her was a tightlipped smile. “I don’t know about the others, but from where I was, in the gardens, someone turned it into a minefield and an oven. Flames on one side, and a exploding bombs everywhere else.” His candid openness of his experience was his way to let the incident just pass over him, as opposed to dwelling on it. “I thought I was gonna die that night. I didn’t want to, but I was so sure I would.”
i will always have nightmares of that day. no matter how much time has passed, i will always remember. the nightmares will never allow me to forget. i will never allow myself to forget.

ms-katrina-scott·:
Hearing a voice behind her, Kat instinctually tensed up. Ever since the ball she’d been a little jumpy and today was no exception. Her body language softened as she registered Rowan’s dulcet tones. Trying to project the usual air of confidence, the brunette shrugged, hardly making eye contact. “A girl’s gotta eat.” That was a bit of an overstatement, Kat was hardly in danger of starving if she took the day off. Quite the contrary she could probably quit playing all together and live comfortable for a few decades. Still, it wasn’t going to happen. “You know me darling, I’m a shark. if I stop moving….well, you know the rest.”
♔
Her answer didn’t have him convinced, because by then, he knew how she operated. “I’ve seen you hustle, Kat. I think you can afford to skip a day and rest.” The professional poker player was a pro for a reason; she could win tidy amounts in the casino floor with relative ease. Curiously tilting his head to better look at her, Rowan leaned in with an offer. “How about you go get yourself a massage at the spa over at Silver Sage. It’s on me.” After what had happened to them, getting Katrina a massage was the least he could do for her. They could have been dead, no thanks to the damn minefield, but here they were, well and live; surely a traumatic experience better bonded them by now.

with @cameronhayes at the hospital
Finding himself lost at the hospital where Esme was doing her practicum at, Rowan was starting to become disheartened. But he really did want to see her and surprise her there, just for the heck of it. Without resorting to calling or texting her outright, he had find another way.
Thus, the male just huffing as he looked around, before approaching what he presumed to be a doctor, judging by the stethoscope hanging around his neck. “Excuse me,” he curtly said, ensuring that he was of no obstruction to whatever he was doing. “Hi, do you know where the medical students usually are? I’m looking for one in particular. A resident surgeon? Goes by Esme Osman?”

Rowan: Are you still in the hospital?
Rowan: What's your room number? I wanna visit.
with @alexandrawhitlock, at the Dahlia, Berkeley Square
After the harrowing night that was the charity event, all the more was Rowan spurred to hatred. Someone was behind the catastrophic night, and he was keen to find out who. In the meantime, however, he had other matters to attend to, involving his sister.
Finding her in the training room, Rowan waited for the room to clear out. It was but a brief training session between Alex and the new prospect, who was at least fighting back and using his training well. When the coast was clear and the session was wrapped up, only then did he approach her with his usual air.
”Is she doing alright?” asked the Whitlock male, fully assured that it was just the two of them, and no one else in the room.
“ You have no idea how happy I am to see you” Gabrielle replied as soon as she saw her oldest friend. The fact she had been shut out from seeing people she cared about due to phone lines and losing sight of people in the chaos of things had left her uneasy. She needed to find out everyone was okay, even if it took a couple days. “ You’re okay right? Is everyone okay? “ She asked closing the space between them.
@rowanwhitlock
“Gabi!” Ever the excited one, Rowan promptly wrapped his arms around her frame, pulling her into a necessary embrace in order to soothe his worries. “Thank goodness you’re alright.” he gushed, exhaling in relief as he did so. “I’m alright. No one’s hurt in the family.” At least, they were fortunate enough that none of the Whitlocks had harm befall unto them. “Payton got hurt though.”
{ The Dahlia with @rowanwhitlock }
A week after the the Sinfully Classic Event and his 24 hour stint in jail, Christian was having dinner and drinks with Rowan in the safe confines of the Dahlia. It had been his first real outing since and he was happy to be spending it with his best friend turned lover. While they had frequented the Dahlia hundreds of times before, this time was definitely different. For one, they were snuggling together on the same side of the booth instead of sitting across from each other. There were lingering touches and glances they now shared as they waited for their food to arrive.
“Hey, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you – something I haven’t told anyone,” he whispered quietly between them, wearing a serious expression. It wasn’t a typical demeanor around Rowan but this particular situation called for it. “Obviously this stays between us until I figure out what to do with it…all.” He had wanted to tell Rowan the news right away but there was always something stopping him in his tracks, whether it be fancy events, jail time, or what have you.
Cozy up in one side of the booth, Rowan drank his beer with a certain ease. He had Christian by his side, the pair of them dropping into the Dahlia headquarters. After the event, it was more or less abundantly clear to all, not just the Dahlias, that Rowan was dating both Esme and Christian. The throuple may seem unconventional but one that worked for them.
“Hmmm?” asked the male, turning his undivided focus to him, though with a faltered expression, immediately intrigued by what his boyfriend clearly had to say. “What’s up?” Their friendship prior to the relationship had allowed a certain amount of openness and honesty to exist between them as it is, with the latter only cementing their bond into a more affectionate area, really. “You know you can tell me anything, right?”
