We don't talk enough about how Desscaras forced everyone's hand by signing the mentor-pupil blood contract. Like the other witches seemed distressed by the news that Ichi would likely have to die, but from their perspective Ichi is like...a fun anomaly. He has no family and no connections. He's not properly trained. He has no sense of the future and only cares about hunting. Ichi dying to take out the world-hater majik is a total non-issue in the grand scheme of things. They lose nothing. Easiest trolley problem ever.

Honestly with what we've learned about Jikishirone in the most recent arc, I'd say she gave this little speech specifically because she knew it was going through everyone's heads and she wanted them to confront the thought fully. Monegold gets angry about it, and I don't think Monegold is necessarily a bad person, but she does have to think about things in a broader "what's good for everyone" stance as the leader of the association.

And then this absolute madwoman Desscaras turns around like "oh, you thought you wouldn't lose anything by relying on your easy sacrifice? Well now if he dies, so does your #1 best witch ever." She literally took the option away from them. She's decided that she didn't want to rely on a kid's death to save the world, and now she's made it clear to the higher-ups that they ALSO can't do that unless they want to lose her. Save her kid or watch your association crumble. She's so right she really is the greatest of all time.

I was rereading chapter one of ITW and I realized something

So, this is what the World-Hater Majik's (WHM) eyes normally look like:

They sometimes have a glint in them, like when he's addressing Uroro and the glint seems to be one of disdain. But for the most part, they're empty. Dull.

So when rereading chapter 1, and I got to this part:

I realized that it's the same look.

It's an apathy toward life. Toward living.

So then, what happens next?

Ichi didn't just amuse WHM. They weren't just caught off guard by his intensity or enthralled by his enthusiasm.

They were caught off by how he made them feel a surge of life.

WHM has a "purpose" for living: destroying the world. But they do not "live." They said it themselves: "I appear. I warp. I leave. That's all."

But for a split second, Ichi made WHM feel alive.

And considering their whole thing is, y'know, eradicating life, and Ichi's whole thing is loving life:

I'm really excited to see future interactions between these characters.

Need Help With Vet Bills

Hello everyone! A friend of mine recently lost their dog, Bird, and has been left with a bill they cant pay off.

In the lead up to the day when their dog had to be put down they had taken him to the vet to try and figure out what was wrong. He'd been lethargic and not eatting like normal. It took more than one trip to get a solid answer for what was going on and that final trip resulted in him having to be put down.

My friend loved Bird dearly and his loss has impacted them a lot. And on top of the grief of the loss they've also been left with a vet bill they cant fully pay off. They have around $800 more that needs to be covered.

Literally anything would be majorly appreciated. Even just rebloging.
