“You must have a good stylist. I tried doing that but the one I went to made my hair fall out from one time. And when it got turned blue my theater group wanted me to be Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas. She’s a good singer, though.”

Yeah I try.  I mean it was a lot of trial and error and I’ve had some really weird hair sometimes, but I think I’ve got it figured out now.  And if you want I’d be glad to dye your hair for you sometimes, I promise I can do normal colors too.

“Thank you so much but my hair is allergic to dye or something. I’ve tried touching it up but even that makes it shrivel. That rules out any acting gigs that don’t use wigs.”

“It didn’t work out. I didn’t get into a music school or any shows but makeup was the next best thing. Now I don’t have much time for it but I need money. And I get to network with all the actors so it’s a plus.”

“I get that but don’t you ever think about trying again? I mean, you could always go the cliché road and work another job to try it over. That is a big plus though! Connections are everything in this business so maybe something will come up for you some day.”

I’ve always wanted to work on Broadway, too, so obviously I stuck around. That’s awesome! I can’t act or sing at all but how come you didn’t go for it if you don’t mind me asking?”

“We’ve tried that but it hasn’t changed anything. Everyone’s stressed because of the contracts. Maybe if I can hold out until then it’ll get better. It’s a cycle but I’ve been through worse. You’ve been really sweet to a girl you’ve never met, thank you. And you can do all of Hedwig’s makeup in 20 minutes? Wow that’s amazing.”

“I’m sorry…but yeah, I know that feeling. It never gets any less nerve wrecking unless you know where you’re gonna go next. It’s funny, despite the fact that I absolutely hate being clueless and kinda lost I never once regretted becoming a makeup artist, haha. Oh no, I’m just being honest. You seem very nice and I’m sure it’s all gonna fall into place so you’re welcome. I sure can! It took a few tries and depending on how much Hedwig talks I’ll take half an hour tops but other than that it’s really not that hard to do. With a bit of practice it’s a really easy look.”

As some of you may know, I have been in negotiations with the theatre to renew my contract to stay with Hamilton. The theatre and I were unable to reach an agreement by today, and therefore Sunday will be my last day at Hamilton for at least a week while we continue to work on this issue. In the mean time, anyone need a stage manager or a dresser for their show?

“We’ve reached a plateau on what we can do in a limited amount of time and the managers are pissed we aren’t getting better. Doing makeup gets easier the more you do it but you eventually reach a point where you can’t do anymore. And we’ve made stupid mistakes lately so that doesn’t help. Theater is all I can see myself doing so trying to get a stable job is my goal. The goal of everyone in their 20′s, right?”

“Well if it’s the best you can do there’s no point in torturing yourself. It does get easier and you get a lot quicker. When I first started doing Hedwig I took about an hour and now I made it down to thirty minutes that’s just a progress but have you talked to them about it? That you just can’t improve because you’re on top already? Ah crap that’s never good…but well, maybe that just means it’s time to move on to a better work environment. Of course that’s what’s been mine as well and you’ll get there. It’s tough but I’m sure it’ll work out.”

“A few in my team have their renewals. They haven’t been thrilled with us lately so I may need to move on. It just sucks being on the hunt for a job all the time.”

Before I started working on Broadway it was the same for me but it got easier and thankfully I got some more solid jobs. Have you considered working freelance or do you wanna keep working in theater?”
