Moving Malkia to my mutlimuse blog at @animxlity !
@royal-advisor liked for a small starter
For as long as he had grown up in the jungle, the man-cub had been told many times to respect elephants. One person explained that they made the rivers and other things in the jungle at the beginning of time, others explained that it was a story that was long forgotten and only a fragment about elephants remained. Either way, when Mowgli spotted one wandering around, he decided to ask some questions, mostly due to his insatiable curiosity. “Hey, Elephant. Can I ask you a question? How come we’re supposed to respect you around here?”
The Matriarch hadn’t noticed the cub approaching her until he spoke, and she looked down with mild surprise at the small thing before her. Had he been wolf or tiger he would have been swatted aside for such a question, but his special status made her lenient.
“It is just like a man to ask such a question.” Malkia rumbled in a chuckle, closing her eyes for a moment to think of an answer.
“It is a commonly held belief of all tribes that my kind created the jungle. Where we blow with our trunks the leaves fall, and where we make furrows with our tusks the rivers run. Where we make paths in the forests, there the deer graze, and where the deer graze, there the wolves hunt.”
“Others respect us for our size and our wisdom. We alone in the jungle cannot be hunted by any but man, and as such we live for a great many years, and learn a great many things. Though we seldom share outside our tribe, as I am doing to you now, Mancub.”

Lazily reclining in his favorite of trees, Baloo the bear retired himself to much needed relaxation. A long day of lecturing impetuous wolf pups on the manner of the Law was enough to even take the wind out of a jungle lord.
Baloo economically raised a mango to his maw and began to chomp it down into a fine paste before swallowing. As the old bear licked all about his snout, a methodical and rhythmic THUD came and went through the ground. Something immense was coming this way. ‘Hathi?’, Baloo wondered to himself. ‘Nay… His travels take him through here seldom.’
Slow was the pace at which Baloo raised his black, fuzzy head to look about to whatever was coming his way…
The old and wisened matriarch moved through the strange and unfamiliar jungle with long, graceful strides, almost gliding among the trees. About six or seven females followed in her wake, accompanied by one infant son.
Malkia the Giant, as she was known, was almost double the size of her sisters and daughters of her herd. Uncommonly for female elephants, her mouth bore two huge ivory tusks that curved down towards the forest floor. In size she almost rivalled Hathi the Silent, who was legend among elephants all across India.
Only her eyes moved when the head of a sloth bear revealed itself, not cause for alarm as a Striped One or a pack of the Red Dog would be, but a member of the Hunting Folk nonetheless, even if he was mostly an eater of roots and berries.
She made a small noise to alert her herd, so they would not scatter in a panic, and stopped and raised her trunk in greeting towards the bear, giving tongue to the greeting that was universal across all animals (his people’s traditional greeting of ‘Good Hunting!’ would have been an insult to her, Queen of the Herding Folk).
“We are of one blood, ye and I!”

Surprisingly elephants were used during WW1 as military auxiliaries. This image was taken in Sheffield. Due to the lack of horses, elephants were taken from zoos and circuses during WW1 and put to work.
/Added a Jungle Book verse so like for a small starter in that?

His stride was cut to a halt as his sharp ears picked up the accusatory tone of a single word. Bagheera turned his head only to lay eyes on a rather angry looking elephant. He gawked at the other, golden orbs wide with surprise. “Me?” He inquired, confused.
Before he could properly explain himself, a bellow heralding the charging elephant nearly made him jump out of his skin. As the deafening noise tore through the air, Bagheera let out his own feline screech of terror. His claws instinctively became unsheathed to grip the ground beneath them. The short black fur along his neck and back stood upright as he began to back away frantically.
Despite being sent into such a fit of terror, something in his mind clicked as his heart pounded rapidly. From his experiences in the jungle, he knew the best way to get an elephant’s attention was to be loud. Which was exactly what he did. “Woah! Hold it! Hold it there!!!” He screamed, desperation clear in his voice.
Malkia felt some degree of sadistic pleasure when the panther screamed and fled from her. He was never normally so quick to flee, only retreating up the nearest tree or rock to hiss insults and make idle threats. Did he finally understand that she meant to kill?
‘Oh yes I’ve got you now. Nowhere left to run, Kimya.’
She was closing in on him fast now, her thundering feet shaking the earth beneath him. Her trunk was just close enough to reach out and grab him by the tail, when he turned around and yelled.
The huge elephant skidded to a halt, digging her heels into the ground and stopping just short of the cat. That was not his voice.
Now that she closer she could see him clearer: yellow eyes, grey muzzle, smaller frame...
...Wrong panther.

For good or ill, anger is a great motivator.
@noblestpanther
“You.”
Elephants were not known for their good eyesight.
Malkia had been walking along the base of Pride Rock, off to visit one of her favourite groves of trees, when a dark shape moving up the slope of Pride Rock had caught her eye. At such a distance with her incredibly poor eyesight, all she could make out was the shape of a cat, smaller than a lion but larger than a cheetah, with jet-black fur.
She had not met Mufasa’s newest friend yet. As far as her knowledge was concerned, there was only one black leopard in the Pridelands: and his appearance on Pride Rock in broad daylight was not a good thing.
With an earth-shattering roar, she charged forward after him, swinging her trunk and flapping her ears, determined to keep the royal family safe from the villainous panther (even if she was charging down the wrong one).

"It won’t change anything. You can’t change the past." //prideland-and-outlands. ermer gewd could this be where she tries to bring limya to the good side? (even if it doesn't work lmao)\\
@prideland-and-outlands
“But you can affect the future.”
The elephant looked up the rock face where the leopard had jumped out of reach. After another fruitless chase through the Pridelands, the leopard always staying just out of her reach, she expected him just to snarl and disappear into the Outlands like he always did. But this time he had actually turned around and responded, which was unexpected enough that it made her pause.
If continually chasing him out and coming to blows wasn’t working, maybe a different approach would do the trick.
“What happened to you was abhorrent, there is no denying it. King Ahadi was bloodthirsty and vengeful, and what he did was utterly barbaric.”
Malkia could still remember the day of the event. He had not broken any law, but the Queen and her advisor had still been horrified, and it had only steepened the elephant’s dislike for the King Regent. But they said nothing, did nothing.
No one thought about the cub the murdered leopardess left behind.
“But Mufasa is not his father,” (Quite the opposite, in fact) “Killing him or Simba will do nothing more than continue the bloody cycle that took your mother.”
