A rat in Cambodia has just been given a gold medal for bravery for sniffing out landmines - and all I think is: what have you done this week?

I saw that news -- I think it’s pretty cool. First time a dog hasn’t won the medal. It’s neat that animals are so smart to be able to be trained to do that sort of thing. This week I became a dad, so I think that’s pretty cool.

We’ve done so good, she’s so perfect and tiny. I keep thinking she might break apart, but she’s just perfect. Well, I have your mom and my ma as an example to lead me and also I think they are as in love with her as we are. Plus, I just keep watching you with her and I am so in awe. 

I don’t think she’s going to break, G. Babies are delicate but not that delicate. I love the new born baby smell she has -- I didn’t believe that was a real thing until now. I’m glad my family is here so they can experience this with us. I hope I’m doing the right things.

You love me a lot, huh? You’re cute and I know what you mean. Its another feeling completely - the love for you, or for my mom, or Bells and Anwar and then theres the love for the little angel and its almost overwhelming. You are a dad, officially Daddy Zayn. We’ve done good, havent we? 

I do. How could I not when you’ve given me the most incredible thing? It’s insane how much our life has changed by this -- and I couldn’t be more excited for the journey we’re going to be on together. You’re already the most wonderful mum.

We kept it a secret for a few days and mostly we kept her all to us for a few days, but our little beautiful earthling is here and I don’t think I’ll ever stop looking at her. Completely and utterly in love…and she’s a little virgo 

I never thought I could love someone so much, babe. I mean, I love you a lot -- and I’m still in awe of you, bringing our little one into the world. But this is a whole other level. I can’t believe I’m a dad. And it’s almost been a week since I’ve become a dad. Crazy. You’re amazing, G. She’s amazing. Our little family is amazing.

I don’t think I could tackle a bear either… but I honestly never tried. I never had a reason to tackle any bears, other than my own fluffy fidget, and I would like to keep it that way. Ah, yes, of course. You’ve got a point there. Kal is an American Akita; pretty standard colouring of black and white fur. Has a collar with a name tag on it, too, in case that helps. 

I’m pretty sure you could, my dude. And no one would be surprised that you did. Holy shit. Those dogs are fucking huge. I can see why you called him a bear now. I’d love to own a big dog one day. Maybe something like a chow chow or even bigger -- a leonberger. That’d be neat.

Anybody’s up for a bear hunt? Well, more like tracking, actually. Kal has been missing since this morning. I let him out to do his - ahem - business, and the rascal decided to disappear from my radar. If any of you have any information on his location, you’ll save me a lot of time of going around town and making a fool of myself. My best guess? Probably ran after a squirrel or a raccoon and ended up enjoying cuddles and scratches from various strangers he met along the way. If there’s one thing I know about Kal, he will not refuse any kind of affection.

I thought you meant an actual bear once -- and Superman might be able to tackle bears, but I certainly can’t. I’d be like a toothpick for them to get all the food between their teeth unstuck. If I see any dogs, I’m assuming that’s what he is -- roaming around, I’ll be sure to let you know. Although it’d be more helpful if I knew the colour, breed and all of that. Other than just his name.

I would love if we could make that happen without risking their health. We can look into them flying privately, I dont know if that would work but I am sure we could try? Who would go out and bring me food if you were stuck there? It’d be a nightmare. 

Mhhh, lately yes, today - nope. 

We might have to -- I could set them up in my house for quarantine -- if you didn’t mind having me at your place full time. I can sleep in the spare bedroom, sometimes. If they’ll let non-citizens in. I’m sure that Irina would step-up and help out. But I’m glad I’m the one who brings you the food.

Well let me change that -- you’re stunning.

Smooth, you just ignored my complaint here, good job Malik! Bagel “something arabic cause my dad will insist” Hadid-Malik, yes. I think that has a wonderful ring to it honestly. 

I’ve learnt to block the complaining out, Jelena. Oh, I’m sure my dad is going to want that too. I’m still hoping we can get my family over here -- although it’s not looking likely. I’m glad I didn’t make that trip back home when I wanted to. Otherwise I’d be stuck and not with you.

Those photographs are incredible. Your baby mama is glowing. And she’s really going to be a great mother, I’ve seen her around my kids’, and Soph’s and Irina’s, and other kids in town, and she’s a brilliant Auntie Gigi to them all. 

Isn’t she? She’s going to be the best mum -- I’m glad she has tons of experience with babies and kids cause I have none. No clue what the fuck I’m doing, mate.

Oh don’t I know it. She looks absolutely amazing. If she’s been cursing you, well, rightly so, because your part in all of this was over in five minutes, while the rest takes nine more months… but back to those pictures. She’s amazing, she looks ethereal. 

Five minutes? Love, I last a lot longer than five minutes -- you can ask Gigi about that. She’s got it harder than me, I know it -- so I just try to do whatever I can to make her comfortable. Including getting all the bagels she wants.
