Roy Clark || 17 || Son of Hypnos Drowsy, dreamy my head is heavy but my thoughts are light. Half here and half gone, I've drifted in and out---around these places until I've found a home to lay my head to rest
âOoh, you make a great point. Iâm a little worried that I might knock out for a good few weeks instead of a quick nap, but Oreos... Would you guys mind if I did?â
âI canât promise someone will be there to wake you up for sure, but worth a try.â smiling, but as she spoke of his Oreos his smile grew more. âOf course you can. Iâll supervise which flavors. Since..well...Iâve saving some for rainy days. Though more than enough to share.â
âWell, I canât argue with that. Why would she say no? They lose the feathers anyway, but now they just go to waste. What does she do with them instead?â It could be anything, really, and the thought is not one Tatiana wants to ponder for long. Camp Half Blood is weird enough without adding Pegasi conspiracy to the list. âThere are only so many people here with silver hair. Lucky guess, I think. Thirteen? I didnât know they made thirteen flavors of Oreo. I thought it was just the regular and those gross vanilla ones. Oh good. I mean, I would have shared if youâd asked, just so you know. Iâm not a complete jerk.â
âI didnât ask but it was something about respecting them or not modernizing...but eh.â he shrugged, since itâs been months since that conversation happened and the facts were all a bit hazy anyways. Frankly he wasnât fretting on it much anymore, and continued with the conversation. âYep, some are imported from other countries...my favorite is a tie between the blueberry ice-cream flavor or gingerbread.â smiling at the thought, âOh yeah. I mean in Japan alone there is at least twenty---some of which I havenât tried yet.â Roy was a simple man and with his paycheck he normally blue it on weed and Oreos, which for the time being was all he cared about. âI didnât think you were but good to clarify. There are so many jerks around here hate for you to be pegged with the lot of them.âÂ
âPft, he wouldâve already been turned into ì€ì§ìŽ if he was a squid,â Charla definitely wouldnât miss the chance to eat a giant squid. âUhââ she held the note for about a minute,âI have no idea but Iâll trust you.â She squinted her eyes as she gazed at Harold. âSo, we either have to wait till he poops or you have to hold onto him while I try moving the earring with magic. You can choose.â
âMagical operation sounds the best.â as if he knew what was the best in the situation. However waiting for the little thing to go to the bathroom (where ever that would be on the lake) would definitely make him late for work. âBut...â he offered a hand, watching Harold nose sniff his palm before he nestled his head into him causing Roy to pet him. âHow good are you with magic? --Not saying you are bad but. Like 1-10 on my magical knowledge, itâs a zero and well...this doesnât sound run of the mill kind of easy.âÂ
âi donât know. like twelve?â ginny shrugged helplessly. âsixteen at the oldest.â she had a tendency to exaggerate but really, she was sure she was at least a few years older. âhe really is quite terrifying. they both are. iâm not sure what i would do if they were both here. thatâd be intense.â she made her eyes go wide and shook her head. âyou could try whistling, but really, i donât know how well heâd respond to a stranger.â she wrinkled her nose at the thought of the lake water and his phrasing. âi feel like enjoy is a very strong word for that lake, honestly.âÂ
âIâm seventeen thank you. For a few months actually.â he replied matter-of-a-factly, not finding the fact of his baby face being the cause of others thinking heâs young. âYou know Iâm not a son of Hebe, I not that young looking.â he chimed in once more before letting the conversation drop with her. âRight, what does Eugene even look like? I need details to believe you.â really Roy didnât, he just wanted to have some company for a bit longer and well...the girl seemed to enjoy talking. âHuh?â cocking his head up from the water, wondering what that could mean. âDo you have bad history with this lake or something?âÂ
âYou say complaining like itâs a bad thing.â She responded, a little wary of his teasing. âYep, Tatiana. You can call me Tatiana or Ana, or whatever you want, really. I know youâre Roy. The hair kinda tips me off.â She motioned to his bright hair with a smile. He clearly had a lot of snacks of his own, but he had to have a reason for coming and talking to her, so she eyed him up carefully. âYou arenât after my cookies are, are you? Cause you should know that I really donât share cookies unless you have something really good to offer in return.â
âDepends on what you are complaining about? I mean Iâm all for complaining about something being better. Like when I asked Marina if we could use the Pegasiâs fallen feathers to make the comfiest pillow ever and when she said no...I complained.â That day was truly a sad one. The thought of the perfect pillow gone from his finger tips. âAhh so my hair is infamous, Iâll take it.â joking, but still flashed a pleasant grin, âCookies...no, no I have plenty at my cabin. I actually have thirteen different flavors of Oreos if you ever want to take a peak at it. Itâs my pride and joy.â as lame as the sounded it was true, âI swear you sweets are safe, Iâm in more of a gummy mood anyways.âÂ
Harold; Halfblooded Myth
âłaesthetic monsters, half truths and lies, lake problems
âHarold is as old as Camp Half Blood. The story goes of a lake creature---monster with in the barrier, hiding and waiting in the lake for some foolish camper. Some swear heâs a forty foot squid while others swear they saw a seal-like, otter-looking creature that goes around stealing from everyone. One saying, old as time, speaks of Harold once being a camper here but was cursed by Poseidon and forced to become a foul creature bound to the lake for eternity... The stories have changed, truths have been bent, but one thing everyone knows is Harold the anthropomorphic or not monster is real, is alive, and if you don't listen to the warnings you might be his next victim.â Â
One thing Vanessa was really good at was doing really, really, ridiculously stupid stunts. Today, on her day off from counselor duties, she decided she would test the limits of how high her hoverboard would let her go. Would it be high enough for her to throw herself off it and skydive? She was totally about the DIY trend, knowing quite well that this wasnât what it was for. Itâd only been thirty minutes since she headed out to the open field next to all the sport courts and fields. A few campers had stopped to watch her, figuring out what she was going to pull this time. To be fair, things usually went well, like right now.Â
Until they werenât. She was a good thirty-five feet off the ground when a bird, the tiniest  bird, zoomed towards her. Out of reflex, Vanessa dogged it by quickly leaning to the side. She didnât feel like her movements where to fast, but her body did. Specifically, her feet, which now only one of the two where on the hoverboard. Within a blink of an eye, Vanessa was hanging from her hoverboard, holding on to it was tight as she could while it slowly went up higher. âThisâŠ.this is perfect. Twelve out of ten, Ness.â
One thing Roy was great at was sleeping in places that werenât his bed. This evening, the warmth of the weather and the wind that was blowing in from the east, made the young son of Hypnos find a patch of grass that would be the best fit for his little cat-nap he was planning on. Grass and flowers got a bad rap for being something you should pick over sleeping on, since dirt and proper things and blah, blah, blah. For Roy, it was just a natural bed. Natures way of saying, âHey lay with me.â or something. Personally he couldnât control his urges of feeling tired (at least yet). So when they came to him like waves, heâ find the best and safest place to indulge in them. Today it was the open fields, just right of the sports field.
It was probably a good half hour, he was well into his sleep, when noises of campers brought him out of it. âWha-what?â groggily mumbling to himself. His eyes opened, the sun partially being blocked by something but his eyes were still adjusting. The shadow that Vanessa casted against his person was evident that this wasnât a dream and a girl---whoever was dangling above him. âOh shit.â he fumbled to stand to his feet. âHey, um...you good or something? Like. Oooh is that a hoverboard?â his ADHD quickly shifted his worry to interest then back to worry. âS-sorry, um can I help or I donât know should I get someone?â Roy was the closest person to the girl and though a few campers seemed to be getting one of the counselors Roy wondered if they had enough time to wait.Â
Iâm not complaining or anything, but donât you think giving usâwhat is it, four snack shops kinda defeats the purpose of having us run all these drills and training exercises every day? I seriously hope no one actually brings this up to the director, but Iâm definitely judging anyone I see walk out of here with junk food. Other than myself, of course.
Roy was walking with a bag of gummy worms, a twizzler hanging from his mouth, and a joint tucked behind his ear. It was obvious what his intentions were but with a voice speaking about snacks and her face raising an interest he felt inclined to speak with her. âComplaining, never?â he teased, slipping into the seat that was open in front of her. âItâs Tatiana right?â he asked, mouth full with sweets.Â
â alright, so maybe i was a little less â alert than usual, and got lost a few times before finding our cabin, which gave me plenty of time to get through three of teddyâs lollipops. happens to the best of us, â lorelei admitted, her face translating the embarrassment which came with the said story. â iâve mainly gotten stuff from ricardo too, but iâm pretty sure iâve also been to see otis a couple times. â i donât know, i was tired, i donât remember, â she continued, rubbing her eyes slightly in emphasis. the afternoon was settling in, and her need for a long nap in the massage chair the hephaestus kids had just designed for cabin fifteen had just made its way to the top of her list.
it took lorelei a few seconds to compose herself after laughing at her brotherâs incomprehension, and even after feeling like her laughing fit was over, she could still feel her lips ready to curl back into a large grin. â coconut oilâs not actually magic salad dressing, you doofus. iâm just saying that, to me, itâs basically the equivalent of it. and actually, if anything, it goes above and being what magic salad dressing could do if it existed, â she explained, her expression now very matter-of-fact.Â
âWell lets make it a point to get some Otis or something soon. Iâll ask Ricardo if heâs cool with that.â still unsure what the protocol was for speaking with other dealers, even if they were friends. âI kind of want something with a bit more body high...last couple weeks Iâve been getting way more sleepy with the stuff Iâve been smoking.â he shrugged lightly, knowing she would understand. Sleep and smoking went hand in hand, ironic since most Hypnos kids smoked---even if Marina wished they didnât (at least so openly). Briefly thinking about his father, he wondered if he had a hand in marijuana or was that all Demeterâs business. Perhaps it was a joint conversation? Really Royâs mind would have kept on wondering, delving into more theories and questions about the world and how much of godly hands were the ones that created it. Luckily his sister was here to keep him out of his head and in the conversation.Â
âOh.â he wanted not to laugh but it was contagious. She was contagious, and genuinely made any situation funnier. âOkay, Iâll take being a doofus but you were the one who made oil sound way more magical than it is. I mean we live in a place where magic is totally real.â grinning lightly, âSo it was totally plausible.â
âOh, I donât know about fun. If people see me enjoying myself outside of my cabin walls, they might start expecting things from me, and then where would we be?â She grinned in return, rolling her eyes. She liked Roy. He was a nice enough kid and he never asked much of her. Tutoring was easy enough to pass the time and the smoking definitely helped even things out. What could she say? She lived for the little things.
âYouâre funny, you know that? Most people would just go back for their swim suit.â Lillian stretched her arms out behind her, kicking her feet in the water as she did so. âStill, it was a good idea. Who has the energy to walk all the way back to their own cabin?â She stood up, pulled her shirt over her head, and tugged her shorts off in the next movement. She slipped into the water quickly after. âJust donât let me drown, alright? I havenât even written my will yet.â
âWell Iâd hate to ruin your reputation. After all everyone keeps saying thatâs important around here.â a phrase he swore most counselors have repeated to him constantly. Being lazy, being punctual, being accountable...they all mixed into one inaudible noise at this point---like the nonsense the adults from The Peanuts made.Â
âExactly!â his voice grew with elation, âI was like---â clearing his voice, âRoy you could walk all the way back to your cabin, inevitably pass out or.â his brow furrowing, âor you could jump in now. I mean underwear is the same as swimming trunks I think. I was just lucky I wore any today.â he grinned, while he watched as she inevitably joined him in the lake. If he didnât know better, heâd like he had charmspeak or something. âDrown?â looking over, âNever. Iâd never let that happen, after all I need to be written in that will of yours...I bet you have something wicked from how long you were here.âÂ
Phil tried not to fidget but he hadnât been expecting anyone to pay him any attention and it was throwing him off. âOh.â He smiled weakly, aware that his answer lacked any real fanfare. âIt is nice out. I was just gonna talk a quick walk, really, I didnâtââ He stopped, edging closer to the lake with a frown. âDo you really think I need to loosen up? Is itâ Is that something visible? I mean, can you actually tell, even from over there?â
There was sensitively uptight but then there was this. Roy didnât fully believe in energies and vibes like his sister preached about, but there was something distinct about how Philip carried himself. It reeked of self-conciousness with a dash of uneasiness---it was interesting but slightly discouraging for Roy. âI was just trying to be nice.â he thought, but formed a brighter smile as he glanced up at the boy. âI wouldnât say visibly...not like you have a deformity. I just can tell. Call it my power.â he lied, but hope it would give ease to him. âHow about you just sit and talk for a bit. Keep me company? No swimming if you donât want.âÂ
âI could but catching Harold is so much more fun,â she replied as she got closer and closer to the creature. âI almost have himââ she used her powers to give her a little push forward and latched on to him. âGotcha!â She stopped swimming and decided to meet Roy half way. âHarold, this is Roy. He kind of not-really helped me catch you,â she proudly displayed Harold as if he was Simba from The Lion King. âRoy, this is Harold the lake monster. Heâs an otter-seal as well as a little shit. You can hold on to him if you want but if you let go, youâre in charge of catching him again.â
Adding to his list of unexplainable things that came with being a demigod, heâd add swimming with sea monsters while searching for magical jewelry. Simple absurd; though excited. Parts of him wanted nothing more than heading to his job early for once, but here he was watching this âmonsterâ swim in-front of him. âSo he's not a squid.â he huffed, glad to know his imagination got the best of him. âHey little buddy.â waving his hand through the water as he said hello. âWait...this makes sense.â a prideful thought popped into his head, âDonât otters like shinny things?âÂ
1. Five things that you find most interesting about yourself, and why:
âI hate answering things like this, since there isnât much to say but...uh. I walked from Canada to California once, I can make any kind of coffee order you want---flawlessly, Iâve met Thanatos once before I came to camp, Iâm ambidextrous, and lastly...letâs see, I was born with silver hair. This isnât dyed. Â
  2. How do you like camp?
âI think itâs awesome. Definitely an upgrade for me. I mean all the rules can get annoying, but Marina has worked really hard for all of this. I love my cabin, the food, and my job isnât half bad...it was a lot to take in at first but I really do love it. I just wish I knew about this place sooner.Â
  3. The reason you truly came to camp:
âI had no reason, I truly just wandered to the place. Well thatâs kind of a lie, my uncle mentioned this place but he wasnât much of a talker....weird situation but I kind of had an idea but not sure how to get there. I happened to find this place but I guess I came cause I just wanted something permanent for once.âÂ
  4. Your view of being a half-blood/quarter-blood.
âPretty fucking dope. Like at first I was a little weirded out at first, but I kind-of always knew I was different. Not like superman different but you get it. Sometimes I kind of wish I came from a different family line, but a son of Sleep gets old and hard at times....esepcially with some other kids like Ares or Hecate. Although what can you do? No need to complain, I kind of love my cabin and siblings so whatâs done is done...â
5g. (For demigods) What you really think of the demimonstrums:
âIâm not one to judge but kind of uneasy. I imagine how non-halfbloods would feel about us...though I donât hate them if thatâs what you are asking. They are like me; they didnât ask to be born different and shouldnât pay for who/what their parents are or done. No one gets mad at Aresâ kids for the wars their father created nor should we be mad at what other creatures have done to us. I don't know itâs hard to be completely be neutral about it...I mean, uh I was attacked by harpies and if I met a child of one Iâm not sure I could say Iâd be okay with it. Iâd try to be at least.Â
5m. (For demimonstrums) What you really think of the demigods:
  6. What you think about your goldy/monstrum relative(s)?
âI lucked out with my dad being a Minor, since I donât have a crazy list of siblings or uncles or cousins like some others do. I mean from how my uncle is, he doesnât seem bad. Being a god of death youâd think heâs more frightening, definitely more calming and rough around the edges if you ask me...If I had to say something his voice sounds like my dadâs---makes sense I guess but didnât expect it. Being brother to a god of dreams is kind of dope too, never met him but itâs nice to know he must know me in some way. As for my half siblings and I guess cousins too...I canât complain. I know I sound like a boring record player but I mean it. I didnât have a family and not I got this huge one, so Iâm just really grateful.â
  7. If you could say one thing to them, what would it be?
âFuck thatâs kind of deep..uh. Give me a second. I think Itâd say to my dad something like, âDo you ever watch over me or us?â I know being a god must be difficult, cause Iâm a teenager and I can barely do that let alone run the world...I just want to know that he knows Iâm out here, even help me fall asleep or is just around. Itâs hard to really believe in something you havenât met but Iâd just like to have something to rekindle my faith yâknow?â
  8. When you look in the mirror whatâs the first thing you think?
âWhat time is it. Normally time is such a weird concept to me...I donât have a sleep schedule, so I basically am always waking up wondering if itâs the same day or another.â
  9. Your top four favorite people at camp so far, and why:
âDamn if putting me on the spot here. Top four, top four....letâs see. Number one for sure, hands down is Lorelei. I mean sheâs my sister, my smoke partner, my favorite vegan we just click. Day one ride or die I guess. Next, which would have been first but you know family, Zackary...gods man. Just a fun guy. Iâve never had a problem or someone who just gets me, with out prying about me before. Not to mention best guy to talk conspiracy theories with. Ricardo has to come in third, heâs my supplier and just a chill guy. Weâve gotten pretty close over the months but definitely someone I can see being great friends with one day. Can I just add girls who I think are cute on here? Cause fourth would be Willow, cause sheâs just the cutest thing ever...we arenât close but you know. Lastly, about the same would be Aria. Cute and fun, weâve hung out in the same crowd but someone Iâd like to hang out with more thatâs for sure.Â
 10. If you could hook up with one person who would it be and why?
âI donât feel comfortable answering this...but ugh. The pressure to be apart of something I guess so Iâll answer. I wouldnât mind hooking up with, even thought that sounds rude, would be Belinda Callow. I literally have never spoken to her, but sheâs just---I donât know, my type? Hot, dangerous, and generally a mystery. What isnât there to enjoy?â
 11. Do you have feelings for someone (honest truth or Iâll find out myself, your choice. The latter is much worse though)?
âOnly reason Iâm saying this is to spare her...just donât do anything to humiliate her. Okay? I kind of have a minor crush on Willow Simmons.â
 12. Describe the typical person you fall for:
âI donât do a lot of falling, you donât get to meet many people when youâve town hope like myself but I canât lie and say I donât have a type... Iâm definitely attracted to blondes, but thatâs not mandatory but itâs a nice starter. I like women who are kind, gentle, and humble but also women who are passionate and knows what they want. Anywhere in the middle of that is cool too, Iâm fairly easy too... Be funny, kind, and generally like me for me and Iâm down to fall for you. Iâm not much of a catch, so I donât have high expectations but I just need the simple things to I think love someone.âÂ
 13. Whatâs your worst fear?
âBeing burned alive. I donât hate fire, I just...when thereâs a lot of it I get really overwhelmed. Thatâs why I donât enjoy having to do anything around or near the forge.â
 14. Whatâs your dream job?
âIf I could choose anything, with out limitations, and succeed at it..Iâd well, I would probably choose to become a writer. Probably a novelist to be exact, I just love stories and I have all these ideas so itâs be cool to grow up and write them. Maybe be the next J.K Rowling, but I have to get past passing English and my dyslexia first...â
 15. Finish this off with something memorable:
âMemorable...How do I make things memorable on paper. I guess I could say something worth reading. I know the guy told me not to, but I say Jacob Evans entering back at camp. Apparently heâs running from some people and wanted to hide out, I donât know why, but it sounded serious.â
What would you do if your cabin was built to be the ultimate sleeping fortress of pure comfiness while simultaneously being a stoner? Answer would be stock it with the best snacks you can find. Thanks to Teddyâs Tasy Treats and a once a month special order from Dough Making Me Crazy Cabin 15 is well stocked with every chocolatey, sugary, or gummy need. Roy, along with Lorelei, enjoying having everything theyâd need without the need of leaving their cabin. It might be borderline lazy, but it is brilliant.Â
Royâs favorite snacks are Oreos and with Dough Making Me Crazy ordering special batches for him, he has quite a selection. From original and birthday cake, to weird flavors like green tea. You never know what youâll crave...so best be prepared.Â
Since warm milk is a powerful thing in their cabin, most of their snacks pair with creamy dairy or non-dairy drinks. Muffins, cookies, and chocolates are always on deck.
Gummy worms are usually hidden, since Roy and his younger siblings fight over them.Â
âPleasureâs all mine, Roy.â He sighed. âI know. Trust me. My life is a cycle of weird situations.â This could work. Roy seemed to be taking him seriously, at the very least, and if it came to a fist fight, Jacob was pretty sure he could take the kid. In, you know, self-defense.
âThatâs⊠Wow. Thatâs actually a lot more than I was expecting, if Iâm being quite honest.â He had to consider the offer, if even for a moment. Hiding out in the Hypnos cabin wouldnât be too badâŠÂ âThatâs tempting.â Maybe even for a night or twoâŠÂ âBut Iâd rather not take advantage of some kid I just met. For your sake, you should probably just take me to Mr. D instead. And, uh, maybe not tell anyone Jacobâs at camp yet? Iâd appreciate that much.â
âArenât all of ours?â he questioned back, âComes with the territory, donât sweat it.â The son of Hypnos was too trusting or obvious with others, giving the camp too much of a leeway in who they let in here. To him everyone was innocent, lost like him. If only he knew...
âReally? I know itâs not the best looking cabin.â remarking to his fathers lack-luster job on the outside. Who thought a god could be so messy and rushed, though inside was where the real magic happened. âBut we have the best beds, blankets, and everything you need to rest. Iâm assuming you need to rest? Must have been a long walk for you...â remember how his was---yet his offered was turned down before he could get his hopes up. âNot tell?â he whispered to himself, âWell if thatâs what you want I guess I can. I wasnât really planning on much tonight, other than devouring a packet of Oreos.âÂ
âWho, me?â Phillip looked down at himself for a moment, then looked back at the camper swimming around in the lake. Maybe he was confused or something. If a magic-friendly camper was feeling particularly bored, the lake could be used to make people do weird things. Maybe it was just one of those days again.
âAre you sure weâre both looking at the same thing right now?â
âWho meâ, the response made Roy laugh. âNo the other guy who looks like he needs loosen up.â he playfully noted, not trying to pick on the guy. âIâm seeing, me, a son of Hypnos and perfectly fun guy alone...on a beautiful day enjoying the lake alone. Which is a shame might I add.â tilting his head, while he while his face free of the dripping water, âThen there is you, some guy who looks like he needs a break; free and I donât know---maybe fun? Why not just come for a swim.â
