he was so desperate...
i may be on this evening later, but i gotta study and i have dinner with friends in a few hours
"Hey-!" Shane snorts and laughs when Ilya bites him in return, a grin appearing on his face. It's these moments that he cherishes the most, the playful, silly things that go on between them. The fact that he's even comfortable enough to show this side of himself says more than anything else ever could. Ilya is his safe space, the one person he can really relax and let his guard down with.
So he tilts his head, mischief sparking in his eyes as he bites him again, a little harder, sucking a mark into the skin. Well...he really can't help himself, okay? He likes to show that Ilya belongs to someone. Sue him. Humming, he presses a kiss to it to soothe the sting, laughing to himself. "Sorry," he mutters, nuzzling his nose into his neck. "You're just so biteable. I can't help it."
When Shane bites him again, Ilya laughs, but the laughter quickly fades out as his breath catches in his throat. The sound quickly transitions to something less amused and more pleased as he arches under his boyfriend's mouth slightly. He whispers out a curse as his hand instinctively cradles the back of Shane's neck, and a pleasant shudder rolls over his skin once the man has finished leaving his mark.
This time, he does laugh, eyes fluttering open as he gazes at him. "Is okay, I like it," he assures him, sliding his free hand to stroke his chin. "I like it a lot." Then he leans in to press a kiss to the side of his cheek as he smiles widely. "And is cute when you get bitey. Like tiny kitten."
"No... I'm sorry..." He didn't mean to snap, he was just obviously nervous about all of this, about sharing this secret part of himself. It was just another thing he couldn't share with people. Except, Ilya seemed to understand at least a little bit, and what he didn't, he asked questions to try and understand.
"Yeah... kind of?" Shane frowned, brow knitted together as he tried to explain. "We share a soul... I feel the Fox... the Fox feels me... Like now... it knows I'm nervous so it's...antsy..." He swallowed but moved a little closer so his and Ilya's knees were touching.
At the explanation, Ilya nodded quietly. He wasn't sure it made much more sense than before, but that was okay. He'd figure out what it meant with time, he supposed. Because Shane wasn't running. And neither was he.
"Why are you nervous?" He asked, letting his knee press against Shane's lightly. He had an inkling of why that might be, but he didn't want to make assumptions where this was concerned. He could read Shane pretty well most of the time, but this was uncharted territory.
# LOOKING RESPECTFULLY
For the briefest moment, Shane felt like an animal being lead to a cage with how intently Ilya was looking at him. In that moment, the fox bristled but relaxed when he felt the Russian gently guide him back to the couch to sit. He sat still and as slightly larger hands held his. He figured Ilya was trying to comfort, but it felt more like an enclosure.
“Why? Ilya, I know you think you’re dangerous with your fangs and your need for blood, but I’m a literal animal! I can’t show that part of me!” The wind picked up again outside, the sound of the gust howling echoed through the living room.
Shane stiffened and closed his eye, taking a deep breath as he tried to calm himself. The fox was more antsy now. It wanted out, it wanted to play.
"Sorry," he said softly. His thumb brushed over Shane's knuckles absentmindedly as he looked away and tried to find the right words. "I just want to understand."
He pulled one hand away to scratch at his temple as he took a moment to formulate his thoughts. "So fox part of Kitsune is like... if spirit of fox did not live in fox body but lived with human spirit in human body?"
He tilted his head curiously, his gaze returning to Shane's. He had no prior knowledge to build on, so he needed to start somewhere.
Shane sank into the kiss, humming against Ilya's lips as he braced himself on either side of his head. He wanted to be selfish right now, wanted to take advantage of the fact that had this moment together. Throughout their entire relationship, they always struggled to make time to see each other. But now, now that they admitted they loved each other, they knew it'll be hard to stay away, to steal moments to be together.
So Shane was going to steal as many moments as he could.
His hands moved to smooth down Ilya's sides, giving him something to hold on to as he ground down into his boyfriend's hips. "And we can be selfish? Take what we want... when we want?" He asked, his pupils already blown with want as he looked down at the Russian.
Whenever Shane asked for what he wanted, even just by showing him what he wanted, Ilya was so proud of him. And when he did it like this... well, he was feeling other things too.
A smirk curved at the edges of his lips as he tipped his head back just enough, and his lips parted as he let out a breathless laugh. Leaning in close enough for their lips to touch, he murmured back, "Fuck, yes."
Then he closed the distance between them, his hands encouraging Shane's hips to grind against him again as he kissed him deep and slow.
He might have glanced over as Ilya pulled his shirt over and quickly stared at his own bag. Being bi in a sport that looked down on anything other than the status quo was getting increasingly harder. Aeron cleared his throat before responding and sat down to put his skater shoes on. "Sure, we can do that. My place isn't far. You don't care if I get an Uber for us? My car is in the shop."

" i can drive, " he said with a shrug. he had driven himself to the rink, so it only made sense. besides, it wasn't like he was going to drink more than a glass. he'd be fine to drive home in an hour or two.
once he had finished dressing, he worked on packing up his bag. then he leaned against the wall of his cubby as he waited for aeron to finish up.
Shane liked the way the vowels sounded in Ilya's accent. He liked the way he he said it slowly, like he was taking care of the word and it's meaning even if he didn't know what it actually meant. He knew the Russian would take care of his secret just like Shane would take care of his.
He did flinch a little at Ilya's words, stepping away slightly when the Russian reminded him how not human he was. Sure, that was the point of this, to give him something to relate to, but Shane tried so hard to still be human, even if he was learning more and more that he wasn't.
"The fox is... antsy... mischievous... it always wants to come out. That's why I train so hard, keep to a schedule, a regiment, because if I don't then it'll get easier and easier for it to slip through..." The confession was soft, spoken against the darkness of the night sky coming through the windows, as if he wasn't sure he wanted Ilya to know how not in control he was most days.
Ilya was quiet as he listened to Shane's words, but he needed a moment to process them. So carefully, he slid his hand down to take Shane's, leading him to sit again.
Once he was seated too, he still let their hands overlap, the contact subtle but grounding. "Okay... why do you want to hide fox part? What is so bad about letting it show?"
He knows his word choice is rough at best, but he doesn't know how else to say it. He's curious. So curious. And he's gathering information. The concept of a fox spirit is all new to him. He wants to understand what Shane is talking about. He wants to understand Shane.
There was a small part of him, whether more human or fox he wasn’t sure, that wanted to step away when Ilya came forward. He knew it was out of curiosity though, and if the way he leaned in to the gentle touch of his cheek when the Russian tried to get a better look at his eyes, well then he’ll just chalk it up to the fox missing it’s favorite playmate.
Shane flinched a little when Ilya asked so directly what he was, it made him feel so much less human than he already felt, but maybe that brought the Russian comfort right now, and that was the whole point right?
He cleared his throat, licking his lips before speaking, “In Japanese the word is Kitsune… in English it’s Fox Spirit…it’s said that our souls… my soul… is part human… part fox…”
"Kitsune." The word fell from his lips gently, and then he went quiet again. But all the while, his gaze was soft as he searched Shane's face. He saw no reason not to believe him, so he just nodded.
"You are... different," he said quietly. "Like me. Not... not all human." It was still hard for him to admit that about himself, but it was the truth. He had to believe some part of him still was, but some days, he wasn't sure.
His hand still lingered on the man's face, but he carefully pulled it away as he refocused on his eyes while he spoke.
"What does it mean for you?"

"Asshole," Shane snorted, settling comfortably where he belonged. It had certainly come to feel that way, their bodies pressed together. The name is said with fondness, the way that someone else might use a more endearing term.
Shane hummed, letting his head fall back as the lips trailed along his skin. "Even though you played dirty," he mused, not that he had been better. "I suppose you could boss me around for the rest of the day," meaning that Shane would not be bossing Ilya around.
With a soft chuckle, Ilya grazed his teeth along the curve of Shane's neck. "Oh yeah? Is that prize for me or for you?" He gave a teasing grin as he slid his hands beneath the hem of the man's shirt, letting his fingertips glide across his bare skin.
He knew Shane liked when he was direct, and he *did* like telling Shane what to do. So it really was a good idea. He just liked to give him a hard time about, well, everything.
Rose raised. a brown, grinning a little at the mood Ilya seemed to be in. Shane warned her that his paramour wasn't happy about being dragged to this event to begin, and that he may be a little pouty when he realized she was there too. But Rose didn't want to cause any problems, quite the opposite actually.
"I come in peace... I promise... I'm not going to lie and say that Shane didn't suggest that I come in talk to you... but I wanted to say hi anyway..."
He let out a sigh as he leaned against the stone balustrade and glanced up at the night sky.
God, it would be just like Shane to have the nicest ex-girlfriend on Earth. He couldn't have dated a total bitch? It would've made hating her a lot easier.
He didn't want to hate her. She seemed nice. It was just that she had become negatively associated with a very bad time in his life. He'd had somewhat of an epic spiral during the time that she and Shane had dated. Her face was everywhere and so was his. It was the two of them together, and it had made him feel so terribly...
But it wasn't her fault, and he knew that. He knew he should make an effort. So after a moment, he nodded.
"He mentioned that." Slowly, he turned his face to look at her. "Hi."
