Think about it: this was likely the intent behind allowing Sam to be the warden. If Punz never came and Tommy ended up in the prison instead of Dream, Sam would have, officially or not, been working under Dream as the warden. Dream would've been shaping Sam into the perfect warden. Itd be like exile 2.0. Sure Sam would have had doubts about Tommy but Dream is convincing enough that by the time Sam has serious doubts the sunk cost fallacy would have set in. Hed HAVE to believe Dream is right lest he admit to himself that he imprisoned an innocent child.

Dream telling Sam that his attachments are a weakness to the security of the prison. Sam becoming more and more cold and unfeeling.

Tommy seeing this massive monsterous thing at his cell every day, watching him. It doesn't speak, just comes to give him food. Tommy thinks it can't understand him until he sees Dream ordering it around. He starts talking to it out of desperation for someone, anyone to give him companionship.

And one day, it talks back.

It was very funny but holy *shit* the lore implications are so baller like what in universe could explain c!sam being afk better than heavy dissociation? Its too silly and goofy for a CANON canon death but sam coming back to reality a little too late to realize he's on half a heart and waking up in respawn without the netherite armor that had become like a second skin leaving him feeling far too light, far too exposed, reaching for his sword on instinct and grabbing at air as he feels invisible walls closing in on him and his stomach drops like the floor had just dropped out from beneath him and hes falling, falling, falling...

like………… that was their little group. they were best friends. imagine if one day tommy and ranboo got brainwashed by an evil force and started hurting tubbo in an attempt to convert him? it’s like. actually upsetting. imagine everything they could have accomplished with the badlands if the egg hadn’t taken over. how many more adventures they could’ve had :(

do you ever think about how giving people on the server food was one of the things c!sam enjoyed doing and did to show his appreciation for people, and now in the prison he's set up a special system for a machine to give c!dream food because he hates doing it

YES!!!!!!!!!!

and the automatic food dispenser was one of the changes sam made to the prison!!!! he specifically installed it so he wouldn't have to keep going into the main cell and hand-delivering them to dream. says a lot

#hated bringing him food bc it meant talking to him. meant listening to him #and all he would talk about was tommy #all the fun they had in exile #after hearing about MD he was so distressed he became physically ill (dream was so proud of the fact that he successfully gaslighted tommy)
