If you don't mind me asking, I actually want to see some yume content to certain twst characters from japanese players but I don't know what tag to use or where to look Do you know where I'm supposed to look? I'm not sure how jp player tag their content.

The Japanese fandom LOVES to tag works so it's easy for other fans to find what they are interested in and to avoid what they dislike. Keep the fandom etiquette in mind and practice it yourself! This means don't use unrelated tags to boost exposure when sharing your own posts; it's seen as disrespectful and rude. It also means you do NOT go out of your way to find content you know you dislike and attack the creator.
I believe the general tag for Twst is # ツイステファンアート or #ツイステ. #twstファンアート or #twstイラスト are used for Twst fan art. Most people I know look for Twst stuff on Pixiv, Twitter, or doujin purchasing sites.
If you're looking for shipping content, there are different tags for that:

If you’re looking on Twitter, specific emojis tend to refer to the characters or groups of characters, which I have listed below. I’ve also included the first 2-3 katakana of each character’s first names.
The beginning katakana are combined with one another in order to write ship names. For example, if you want Leona x Prefect, you’d combine the first few katakana for Leona, レオ, and Prefect, 監 or ユウ, to create レオ監 or レオユウ (LeoPrefect or Leona x Prefect). Use a similar formula for your desired character. For example, swap out the レオ (Leo-) part for ジェイ and you get ジェイ監, or JeiPrefect, or Jade x Prefect.
Generally for yumeshipping, it’s the canon character’s name first and then Prefect in the end.
If you’re looking for a BL ship, name order matters. The name that appears first is the “proactive” one in the relationship, while the name that appears second is the “passive” one. For example, カリジャミ (Kalim x Jamil) has Kalim as the lead in the relationship, but ジャミカリ (Jamil x Kalim) has Jamil as the lead in the relationship. YOU DO NOT CROSSTAG; the name order basically makes the ship two entirely separate things and they are treated as such in the JP fandom.

You’re just an exchange student, and he’s the future prince of the Devildom. That degree of separation between you means it’s quite hard for your schedules to naturally align. As a result, when he wants to start showing affection, he gets into the habit of giving you something special, either by royal mail or leaving it in your locker. They range from elaborate pieces of jewelry from his own personal metalsmith, to a pair of fuzzy socks you mentioned wanting a while ago. The next time you see him, he’ll eagerly ask how his gifts were received. Being pampered by royalty like this is a little staggering, but it's always worth it to see the smile spread on his face after he sees you’re flattered. After that, you only fall deeper into the rabbit hole.
Just sending gifts isn’t enough. He wants to see how you look with his gifts. He wants to be seen around RAD and in public with you, wearing a matching set of jewelry or socks. This way, no one can deny you two are a pair, meant to go together. He uses this as an excuse to talk with you more, sit closer to you. It’s painfully obvious he drags his feet whenever Barbatos appears to retrieve him, leading him back to his desk.
That’s not to say Barbatos isn’t on the young master’s side. If Diavolo is all caught up on his work and has leisure time, you find yourself invited to more tea parties at the castle, all of them catered by the loyal butler. He keeps a respectful distance, only eavesdropping occasionally as you and Diavolo talk until the darkness of the Devildom blackens even further. And it’s not that he doesn’t trust you, either. It’s just that he must be confident, without a shadow of a doubt, that you’ll be a suitable mate for his master.
Diavolo officially starts courting you when he ends your long night together with a kiss, his large hands encasing yours. When you don’t pull away, he takes it as a sign that he can stop holding back. With your permission, he touches you more. Plays with your hair, admires your cute fingers, guides you with a gentle hand on your lower back. Anything to get more of his scent on you. He wants to be discreet about it, though. He’s aware you may be unfamiliar with the courting habits of demons, so he decides to ease into it.
He takes you on walks through the gardens, to expensive restaurants with names you can’t pronounce, then lets you see troves in the castle that are so old and expansive, they make you feel like a mite on a speck of dust. When it’s your turn to plan a date, you invite him over to hang out in your room and maybe watch a movie, just to balance the scale a bit. Either way, he’s a happy demon, satisfied with merely the opportunity to be near you. And secretly, he prefers when you plan the dates, thrilled by the thought that you’re content with his company alone. Eventually, he follows your lead and invites you back to his chambers one night, unwilling to let you go.
He doesn’t mean to be so eager, or come off desperate. He’s just so happy you’re here, and you’re so accepting of him. He wants you to see him in a more natural state. When you lie together, he holds your hand no matter what arrangement you end up in. He speaks to you with low, unrushed words, and when he laughs, the vibrations cause a quake in your body. The simple, but instinctive vulnerability of this moment grounds you. It makes you forget you’re in a king-sized bed with a towering canopy and priceless sheets, next to a demon prince whose destiny you couldn’t possibly comprehend.
While you sleep, he gently traces the base of your ring finger with his own. He decides he likes this courtship the best. It feels especially “human” to him. There’s no need for public declarations or reaffirmations through excess. He likes it when it's just the two of you, making each other happy just because.

The main event story differs slightly depending on which demon you have selected. They each have a romanced and non-romanced puzzle, the last episode differs of course, and one other part is different as well.

🍷Lucifer's Wisdom
Lucifer has a different dialogue for each of his brothers being romanced, which is rather sweet. For Mammon and Asmo, he expresses that MC will be safe. For Levi and Beel, he knows that MC will keep them safe. And for Satan and Belphie, he asks MC to look after them (ಥ◡ಥ)
For Mammon, Lucifer knows that he treasures MC, and that the two can overcome any issues. On the notion of putting Mams in charge of money though... "Heh... ...Don't do that. Seriously... You will regret that." (˘ŏ_ŏ)
For Levi, Lucifer knows MC brings out the best in him, and that without MC, Levi would still be stuck in his shell. "Your relationship brings out the best of him."
For Satan, Lucifer says he changed the most after meeting MC, that MC taught him so many more feelings than just rage. He asks for MC to look after him. "But his habit of becoming a workaholic surely will not change easily. Please, watch over him so he doesn't overdo it."
For Asmo, Lucifer believes MC is the only person to treat him as a regular demon. He never thought Asmo would settle down with one person, but MC has the power to change someone that much. "No matter what, Asmo won't leave you."
For Beel, Lucifer says MC is the only one with the strength to protect him, and is glad he has MC at his side. If food runs low, let him know and he'll send as much as is needed. "Beel is driven by a strong desire to protect those dear to him. I trust he will always protect you."
For Belphie, Lucifer believes it was MC who saved him from his long sorrow, and that his experience in losing a loved one means that he won't let MC go. He asks MC to comfort Belphie when he needs it. "Take care of him for me."

Lucifer non-romance:

Asks MC not to make a longing face, as he wants to take MC right there.
At the Bell, he reflects that he never thought the day would come when the Devildom would celebrate his marriage.
Lucifer card:
Just Us Tonight
Begins in carriage [see Asmo's card].
A passing shop catches Lucifer's eye, and he asks to take a peek.
He senses magic, but it isn't dangerous.
It's a photo studio, and he suggests getting a photo together.
The studio is staffed by ghosts.
Lucifer compliments MC's pretty smile in their photo.
Mammon appears with Levi, along with Solomon who says Simeon and Luke are there too, and that he knew "you guys" would be here [we do not see sprites for the angels].
Diavolo and Barbatos are also present, the latter says something had guided their steps there.
Satan, Belphie and Beel are also present.
Lucifer suggests a group photo.
Afterwards, he is very pleased to have such a keepsake [Nb see bottom section!].
He spots a spirit in the background of the photo, and clocks the studio as the work of the Fallen Bell.
Lucifer says how precious non-eventful days are to him with those he loves.
Takes MC on his arm back to new home.
Lucifer is proud of MC, and rests on their shoulder.
He blushes at head pats before suggesting MC can touch other places too.
Delights in teasing MC
Brings vintage Demonus to bed.
MC or Lucifer can take the lead.
Lucifer is pleased that making MC wait made them more lustful.
"You're the only one in the three worlds I will let own me. You know that, right?"
Promises the best night of MC's life.
He talks in his sleep, restless dreams, "Don't go, MC..."
MC can reassure him.
"I like when you beg. You're getting good at it, you know?"

Mammon non-romance:
Asks MC to choose a cake - one has a special coin hidden inside.

Whichever MC chooses will have the coin.
When MC is around, Mammon always has good luck.
His wish is for MC to take the coin.
The legend of the Lucky Coin says that couples who receive it will never lack for money in life.
MC must keep it in their shoe till night for it to work.
Briefly pretends to have allergies to excuse his crying earlier at the ceremony.
Asks MC to take care of his brother.
Mammon romance:
Puzzle given by Barbatos, a quiz on fairness, relationships, splitting chores, what it means to be a partner.
Mammon thinks these things should be decided with MC and that it doesn't matter what is considered normal, it's their choice.
Knows MC wouldn't really let people down, but appreciates them giving his idea to ditch some thought.
Barbatos shows up to drag him back on task.
At the Bell he is emotional, tells MC they look "crazy good" and that he might not let them sleep till morning.
Mammon card:
Whispers Of The Bell
Begins in carriage [see Asmo's card].
MC receives a "happiness email" on their DDD.
Mammon says it might be suspicious, but to open it in case it's their lucky day, or they've won the "big demon-lottery jackpot".
A spirit pops out and drops a small bell-shaped vial - "A special gift for the two of you".
Mammon clocks it as a gift from the Fallen Bell.
The lid pops open and a dark aura emerges, Mammon jumps in front of MC to take the hit - he's fine, lmao.
Mammon doesn't think it's an evil spell, but he will always protect MC and says not to worry.
Moves to Mammon's living room, he mentions they've just moved in.
Is happy they're drinking coffee out of matching mugs.
Asks MC if they can make their famous fried cockatrice for dinner tomorrow. Or their great dark-sea bream carpaccio.
Reveals the demons all used to fight over MC's cooking.
Offers to cook for MC too.
Says MC looks tired, blushes.
"... Hey, don't tease me like that ...Let's go to bed."
In pjs and suddenly all of Mammon's thoughts can be heard by MC.
Mammon mentions he has "crazy deja vu" [see Overflowing Feelings devilgram, 2024].
He is a very blushy demon, and decides he may as well say his thoughts out loud.
Tells MC how much he loves them.
MC or Mammon can take the lead.
MC's thoughts start leaking out as well, much to his happiness.
Mams is embarrassed in the morning, realises it was the work of the aura/spirit/Bell.
MC can tell him he was cute, and he's very pleased - says he'll keep telling them how he feels out loud.
"Now it's my turn to show you how much I love you. I'm ready to go all night, so don't tap out too quickly."

Levi non-romance:

Satan non-romance:
Asks MC to sign lots of paperwork for him.
Human-demon marriages are special cases requiring such.
Remarks that humans [can!] change name upon marriage, demons don't do this.
In the Devildom, marriage can be sealed by a spoken vow: "To you, my eternal love, I offer my name."
MC doesn't actually get a choice over this.
Satan romance:
Puzzle given by Mephisto, to find and return a cat.
Satan is impressed by the task requiring detective work and legwork.
His only wish is to marry MC.
He is greedy for more which scares him, and wants to take MC right now...
Distracted by the cat!
At the Bell he smiles that this isn't a dream.
"Make all of me yours. I desire nothing more than to be yours."
Satan card:
Your Warmth Undoes Me
Begins in House of Lamentation, looking at wedding gifts.
One gift box is glowing - it contains a cat!
Mystery cat vanishes leaving a trail of bell-shaped pawprints.
Satan is delighted by the cat toying with their emotions.
The cat climbs the wall, and the ceiling...
Satan can detect the magic in the cat.
Cat leads him to a second small box, containing either: a ticket stub from the movie he saw at RAD with MC on their first date [see The Best Laid Plans devilgram, 2023]; or a receipt from the Cat's Eye, when MC took Satan there on a date as a thanks for tutoring them [Satan's favourite cat-themed cafe from the OG game].
Moves to bathroom [new bathrooms coming soon?! With shirtless models pls??].
Satan fills a bath for him and MC.
He purchased Hellrose bath bombs on Asmo's recommendation.
A glittery bomb he doesn't remember buying jumps into the bath, soaking them both.

Belphie romance:
Puzzle given by Raphael, to state what MC thinks of when a particular song plays.
Song is a lullaby Raphael sang once at lunchtime, making Belphie very happy.
Belphie thinks Raphael's puzzle may also be a blessing.

A ceremony performed after the wedding.
Two souls vowed to each other must overcome trials to gain the blessings of spirits.
The two must honour partygoers requests.
The more rings of the Bell, the more happiness on first night.
Lucifer: given a studio and ghost photographer in which to take a group photo of everyone he cares about together.
Mammon: given a temporary spell that makes his thoughts audible to MC.
Levi: given a book that tells the live story of their wedding day and night, to keep evermore.
Satan: given a memento of first date via cat, and a magical bath bomb that gets them soaking wet which is apparently a huge turn on for him.
Asmo: given a fireworks display celebrating their marriage.
Beel: given a special giant cake where every slice reminds him of a different memory of him and MC, including their first kiss.
Belphie: given a ghost train.
Lucifer's gift from the Fallen Bell here is particularly noteworthy, as in the original game Lucifer loathed having his photograph taken for any and every reason. Simeon requests such a photo for his birthday event in 2021, and Lucifer begrudgingly grants it only because it is his birthday.
Now, the newly married Lucifer is not just content to have his photo taken but actively pleased to do so, and to take a couple picture and a group one too.
You’re just an exchange student, and he’s the future prince of the Devildom. That degree of separation between you means it’s quite hard for your schedules to naturally align. As a result, when he wants to start showing affection, he gets into the habit of giving you something special, either by royal mail or leaving it in your locker. They range from elaborate pieces of jewelry from his own personal metalsmith, to a pair of fuzzy socks you mentioned wanting a while ago. The next time you see him, he’ll eagerly ask how his gifts were received. Being pampered by royalty like this is a little staggering, but it's always worth it to see the smile spread on his face after he sees you’re flattered. After that, you only fall deeper into the rabbit hole.
Just sending gifts isn’t enough. He wants to see how you look with his gifts. He wants to be seen around RAD and in public with you, wearing a matching set of jewelry or socks. This way, no one can deny you two are a pair, meant to go together. He uses this as an excuse to talk with you more, sit closer to you. It’s painfully obvious he drags his feet whenever Barbatos appears to retrieve him, leading him back to his desk.
That’s not to say Barbatos isn’t on the young master’s side. If Diavolo is all caught up on his work and has leisure time, you find yourself invited to more tea parties at the castle, all of them catered by the loyal butler. He keeps a respectful distance, only eavesdropping occasionally as you and Diavolo talk until the darkness of the Devildom blackens even further. And it’s not that he doesn’t trust you, either. It’s just that he must be confident, without a shadow of a doubt, that you’ll be a suitable mate for his master.
Diavolo officially starts courting you when he ends your long night together with a kiss, his large hands encasing yours. When you don’t pull away, he takes it as a sign that he can stop holding back. With your permission, he touches you more. Plays with your hair, admires your cute fingers, guides you with a gentle hand on your lower back. Anything to get more of his scent on you. He wants to be discreet about it, though. He’s aware you may be unfamiliar with the courting habits of demons, so he decides to ease into it.
He takes you on walks through the gardens, to expensive restaurants with names you can’t pronounce, then lets you see troves in the castle that are so old and expansive, they make you feel like a mite on a speck of dust. When it’s your turn to plan a date, you invite him over to hang out in your room and maybe watch a movie, just to balance the scale a bit. Either way, he’s a happy demon, satisfied with merely the opportunity to be near you. And secretly, he prefers when you plan the dates, thrilled by the thought that you’re content with his company alone. Eventually, he follows your lead and invites you back to his chambers one night, unwilling to let you go.
He doesn’t mean to be so eager, or come off desperate. He’s just so happy you’re here, and you’re so accepting of him. He wants you to see him in a more natural state. When you lie together, he holds your hand no matter what arrangement you end up in. He speaks to you with low, unrushed words, and when he laughs, the vibrations cause a quake in your body. The simple, but instinctive vulnerability of this moment grounds you. It makes you forget you’re in a king-sized bed with a towering canopy and priceless sheets, next to a demon prince whose destiny you couldn’t possibly comprehend.
While you sleep, he gently traces the base of your ring finger with his own. He decides he likes this courtship the best. It feels especially “human” to him. There’s no need for public declarations or reaffirmations through excess. He likes it when it's just the two of you, making each other happy just because.
You know i don't want to sound rude or anything... but really the notion of dialuci is just so ??? Lucifer is literally mc's husband ( like all the other brothers) he vows to love them to eternity and his whole world revolves around mc after getting to know them and then there is people shipping him with dia?? Seriously why?

Alright I have been enabled so I’m gonna say somethings.
Fatalistic sarcasm is a thing, however, it usually hides deep feelings of insecurity, and whether you consciously recognize this or not, it validates them. Seriously, I used to constantly make jokes about how other people’s work was better than mine, and it did nothing for my self-esteem, it was a tool to deflect from my own feelings of inferiority and it actively worked against me thinking critically about my own and other people’s work. If it was a joke I could put myself down instead of analyzing why someone’s work was better and trying to incorporate that into my own
As someone who took creative writing courses I was constantly surrounded by other brilliant people, if I hung my head in shame every time I read something as good or better than mine I never would have lifted it.
As someone who has watched a lot of writers with very good idea’s crash and burn I mean it when I say you either develop a healthy sense of respect for your own work or you stop writing.
There’s three things I really wish more people consider
1. Do you think their work is better because it’s a different style, one that you like? There’s an element to ‘the grass is greener on the other side’, I have seen people work in some amazing styles that I wished to god I could replicate, some I managed, some I never did, but there’s nothing wrong with either. having a different style Is Not the same as having a bad style, each has their own strengths and you can admire one without putting yours down
2. Knowing someone who is a better writer is a blessing and if they knew you were using their work to bring yourself down they would not be happy, mooch off that friend, analyze their work, ask them to edit your shit, as long as you’re not annoying them be shameless about it. the best thing creative writing did for me was give me the confidence to ask people to critic my work and shamelessly better each other for that sharing
3. People need to normalize being confident in their work, the quality of your work has literally nothing to do with your worth as a person, the quality of your work has nothing to do with your worth as a writer. You can write something really shitty and the only thing I’d say to you is that your trying and I respect you for that
The entire reason I started writing fic was because I was too sick to be anxious about it, and after that, whenever I would get down on myself my work would stagnate, so I learned to follow sick Magpie’s lead and just say fuck it.
I write because I enjoy it. I write because I love it. And I write because I want to share a piece of myself with the world and say this is me, take it or leave it.
Learn to give yourself grace. Learn to get better at writing because you love it, not because you hate what you create. And most of all, learn that no one is able to write exactly like you do, and that is amazing.

Hello, my name is Tofu and I'm a professional pixel artist. I have been supporting myself with freelance pixel art since 2020, when I was let go from my job during the pandemic.
My progress, from 2017 to 2024. IMO the only thing that really matters is time and effort, not some kind of natural talent for art.
This guide will not be comprehensive, as nobody should be expected to read allat. Instead I will lean heavily on my own experience, and share what worked for me, so take everything with a grain of salt. This is a guide, not a tutorial. Cheers!
🔹 Do I need money?
NO!!! Pixel art is one of the most accessible mediums out there.
I still use a mouse because I prefer it to a tablet! You won't be at any disadvantage here if you can't afford the best hardware or software.
Because our canvases are typically very small, you don't need a good PC to run a good brush engine or anything like that.
✨Did you know? One of the most skilled and beloved pixel artists uses MS PAINT! Wow!!
🔹 What software should I use?
Here are some of the most popular programs I see my friends and peers using.

💰 Paid options:
⭐⭐⭐ Aseprite (for PC) - $19.99
This is what I and many other pixel artists use. You may find when applying to jobs that they require some knowledge of Aseprite. Since it has become so popular, companies like that you can swap raw files between artists.
Aseprite is amazingly customizable, with custom skins, scripts and extensions on Itch.io, both free and paid.
If you have ever used any art software before, it has most of the same features and should feel fairly familiar to use. It features a robust animation suite and a tilemap feature, which have saved me thousands of hours of labour in my work. The software is also being updated all the time, and the developers listen to the users. I really recommend Aseprite!
⭐ Photoshop (for PC) - Monthly $$
A decent option for those who already are used to the PS interface. Requires some setup to get it ready for pixel-perfect art, but there are plenty of tutorials for doing so.
Animation is also much more tedious on PS which you may want to consider before investing time!
⭐⭐ ProMotion NG (for PC) - $19.00
An advanced and powerful software which has many features Aseprite does not, including Colour Cycling and animated tiles.
⭐⭐⭐ Pixquare (for iOS) - $7.99 - $19.99 (30% off with code 'tofu'!!)
Probably the best app available for iPad users, in active development, with new features added all the time.
Look! My buddy Jon recommends it highly, and uses it often.
One cool thing about Pixquare is that it takes Aseprite raw files! Many of my friends use it to work on the same project, both in their office and on the go.
⭐ Procreate (for iOS) - $12.99
If you have access to Procreate already, it's a decent option to get used to doing pixel art. It does however require some setup. Artist Pixebo is famously using Procreate, and they have tutorials of their own if you want to learn.
⭐⭐ ReSprite iOS and Android. (free trial, but:) $19.99 premium or $$ monthly
ReSprite is VERY similar in terms of UI to Aseprite, so I can recommend it. They just launched their Android release!
🆓 Free options:
⭐⭐⭐ Libresprite (for PC)
Libresprite is an alternative to Aseprite. It is very, very similar, to the point where documentation for Aseprite will be helpful to Libresprite users.
⭐⭐ Pixilart (for PC and mobile)
A free in-browser app, and also a mobile app! It is tied to the website Pixilart, where artists upload and share their work. A good option for those also looking to get involved in a community.
⭐⭐ Dotpict (for mobile)
Dotpict is similar to Pixilart, with a mobile app tied to a website, but it's a Japanese service. Did you know that in Japanese, pixel art is called 'Dot Art'?
Dotpict can be a great way to connect with a different community of pixel artists! They also have prompts and challenges often.
🔹 So I got my software, now what?
◽Nice! Now it's time for the basics of pixel art.
❗ WAIT ❗ Before this section, I want to add a little disclaimer. All of these rules/guidelines can be broken at will, and some 'no-nos' can look amazing when done intentionally.
The pixel-art fundamentals can be exceedingly helpful to new artists, who may feel lost or overwhelmed by choice. But if you feel they restrict you too harshly, don't force yourself! At the end of the day it's your art, and you shouldn't try to contort yourself into what people think a pixel artist 'should be'. What matters is your own artistic expression. 💕👍
◽Phew! With that out of the way...
🔸"The Rules"
There are few hard 'rules' of pixel art, mostly about scaling and exporting. Some of these things will frequently trip up newbies if they aren't aware, and are easy to overlook.
🔹Scaling method
There are a couple ways of scaling your art. The default in most art programs, and the entire internet, is Bi-linear scaling, which usually works out fine for most purposes. But as pixel artists, we need a different method.
Both are scaled up x10. See the difference?
On the left is scaled using Bilinear, and on the right is using Nearest-Neighbor. We love seeing those pixels stay crisp and clean, so we use nearest-neighbor.
(Most pixel-art programs have nearest-neighbor enabled by default! So this may not apply to you, but it's important to know.)
🔹Mixels
Mixels are when there are different (mixed) pixel sizes in the same image.
Here I have scaled up my art- the left is 200%, and the right is 150%. Yuck!
As we can see, the "pixel" sizes end up different. We generally try to scale our work by multiples of 100 - 200%, 300% etc. rather than 150%. At larger scales however, the minute differences in pixel sizes are hardly noticeable!
Mixels are also sometimes seen when an artist scales up their work, then continues drawing on it with a 1 pixel brush.
Many would say that this is not great looking! This type of pixels can be indicative of a beginner artist. But there are plenty of creative pixel artists out there who mixels intentionally, making something modern and cool.
🔹Saving Your Files
We usually save our still images as .PNGs as they don’t create any JPEG artifacts or loss of quality. It's a little hard to see here, but there are some artifacts, and it looks a little blurry. It also makes the art very hard to work with if we are importing a JPEG.
For animations .GIF is good, but be careful of the 256 colour limit. Try to avoid using too many blending mode layers or gradients when working with animations. If you aren’t careful, your animation could flash afterwards, as the .GIF tries to reduce colours wherever it can. It doesn’t look great!
Here's an old piece from 2021 where I experienced .GIF lossiness, because I used gradients and transparency, resulting in way too many colours.

🔸How To Learn
Okay, so you have your software, and you're all ready to start. But maybe you need some more guidance? Try these tutorials and resources! It can be helpful to work along with a tutorial until you build your confidence up.
⭐⭐ Pixel Logic (A Digital Book) - $10
A very comprehensive visual guide book by a very skilled and established artist in the industry. I own a copy myself.
⭐⭐⭐ StudioMiniBoss - free
A collection of visual tutorials, by the artist that worked on Celeste! When starting out, if I got stuck, I would go and scour his tutorials and see how he did it.
⭐ Lospec Tutorials - free
A very large collection of various tutorials from all over the internet. There is a lot to sift through here if you have the time.
⭐⭐⭐ Cyangmou's Tutorials - free (tipping optional)
Cyangmou is one of the most respected and accomplished modern pixel artists, and he has amassed a HUGE collection of free and incredibly well-educated visual tutorials.
He also hosts an educational stream every week on Twitch called 'pixelart for beginners'.
⭐⭐⭐ Youtube Tutorials - free
There are hundreds, if not thousands of tutorials on YouTube, but it can be tricky to find the good ones.
My personal recommendations are MortMort, Brandon, and AdamCYounis- these guys really know what they're talking about!
🔸 How to choose a canvas size
When looking at pixel art turorials, we may see people suggest things like 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64. These are standard sizes for pixel art games with tiles. However, if you're just making a drawing, you don't necessarily need to use a standard canvas size like that.
What I like to think about when choosing a canvas size for my illustrations is 'what features do I think it is important to represent?' And make my canvas as small as possible, while still leaving room for my most important elements.
Imagine I have characters in a scene like this:
I made my canvas as small as possible (232 x 314), but just big enough to represent the features and have them be recognizable (it's Good Omens fanart 😤)!! If I had made it any bigger, I would be working on it for ever, due to how much more foliage I would have to render.
If you want to do an illustration and you're not sure, just start at somewhere around 100x100 - 200x200 and go from there.
It's perfectly okay to crop your canvas, or scale it up, or crunch your art down at any point if you think you need a different size. I do it all the time! It only takes a bit of cleanup to get you back to where you were.
🔸Where To Post
Outside of just regular socials, Twitter, Tumblr, Deviantart, Instagram etc, there are a few places that lean more towards pixel art that you might not have heard of.
⭐ Lospec
Lospec is a low-res focused art website. Some pieces get given a 'monthly masterpiece' award. Not incredibly active, but I believe there are more features being added often.
⭐⭐ Pixilart
Pixilart is a very popular pixel art community, with an app tied to it. The community tends to lean on the young side, so this is a low-pressure place to post with an relaxed vibe.
⭐⭐ Pixeljoint
Pixeljoint is one of the big, old-school pixel art websites. You can only upload your art unscaled (1x) because there is a built-in zoom viewer.
It has a bit of a reputation for being elitist (back in the 00s it was), but in my experience it's not like that any more. This is a fine place for a pixel artist to post if they are really interested in learning, and the history.
The Hall of Fame has some of the most famous / impressive pixel art pieces that paved the way for the work we are doing today.
⭐⭐⭐ Cafe Dot
Cafe Dot is my art server so I'm a little biased here. 🍵
It was created during the recent social media turbulence. We wanted a place to post art with no algorithms, and no NFT or AI chuds. We have a heavy no-self-promotion rule, and are more interested in community than skill or exclusivity.
The other thing is that we have some kind of verification system- you must apply to be a Creator before you can post in the Art feed, or use voice. This helps combat the people who just want to self-promo and dip, or cause trouble, as well as weed out AI/NFT people.
Until then, you are still welcome to post in any of the threads or channels. There is a lot to do in Cafe Dot. I host events weekly, so check the threads!
⭐⭐/r/pixelart
The pixel art subreddit is pretty active! I've also heard some of my friends found work through posting here, so it's worth a try if you're looking.
However, it is still Reddit- so if you're sensitive to rude people, or criticism you didn't ask for, you may want to avoid this one. Lol
🔸 Where To Find Work
You need money? I got you! As someone who mostly gets scouted on social media, I can share a few tips with you:
Put your email / portfolio in your bio
Recruiters don't have all that much time to find artists, make it as easy as possible for someone to find your important information!
Clean up your profile
If your profile feed is all full of memes, most people will just tab out rather than sift through. Doesn't apply as much to Tumblr if you have an art tag people can look at.
Post regularly, and repost
Activity beats everything in the social media game. It's like rolling the dice, and the more you post the more chances you have. You have to have no shame, it's all business baby
Outside of just posting regularly and hoping people reach out to you, it can be hard to know where to look. Here are a few places you can sign up to and post around on.
/r/INAT
INAT (I Need A Team) is a subreddit for finding a team to work with. You can post your portfolio here, or browse for people who need artists.
/r/GameDevClassifieds
Same as above, but specifically for game-related projects.
Remote Game Jobs / Work With Indies
Like Indeed but for game jobs. Browse them often, or get email notifications.
VGen
VGen is a website specifically for commissions. You need a code from another verified artist before you can upgrade your account and sell, so ask around on social media or ask your friends.
Once your account is upgraded, you can make a 'menu' of services people can purchase, and they send you an offer which you are able to accept, decline, or counter.
The evil websites of doom: Fiverr and Upwork
I don't recommend them!! They take a big cut of your profit, and the sites are teeming with NFT and AI people hoping to make a quick buck. The site is also extremely oversaturated and competitive, resulting in a race to the bottom (the cheapest, the fastest, doing the most for the least).
Imagine the kind of clients who go to these websites, looking for the cheapest option. But if you're really desperate...
🔸 Community
I do really recommend getting involved in a community. Finding like-minded friends can help you stay motivated to keep drawing. One day, those friends you met when you were just starting out may become your peers in the industry. Making friends is a game changer!
Discord servers
Nowadays, the forums of old are mostly abandoned, and people split off into many different servers. Cafe Dot, Pixel Art Discord (PAD), and if you can stomach scrolling past all the AI slop, you can browse Discord servers here.
Twitch Streams
Twitch has kind of a bad reputation for being home to some of the more edgy gamers online, but the pixel art community is extremely welcoming and inclusive. Some of the people I met on Twitch are my friends to this day, and we've even worked together on different projects!
Browse pixel art streams here, or follow some I recommend: NickWoz, JDZombi, CupOhJoe, GrayLure, LumpyTouch, FrankiePixelShow, MortMort, Sodor, NateyCakes, NyuraKim, ShinySeabass, I could go on for ever really... There are a lot of good eggs on Pixel Art Twitch.
🔸 Other Helpful Websites
Palettes
Lospec has a huge collection of user-made palettes, for any artist who has trouble choosing their colours, or just wants to try something fun.
Rejected Palettes is full of palettes that didn't quite make it onto Lospec, ran by people who believe there are no bad colours.
The Spriters Resource
TSR is an incredible website where users can upload spritesheets and tilesets from games. You can browse for your favourite childhood game, and see how they made it! This website has helped me so much in understanding how game assets come together in a scene.
VGMaps
Similar to the above, except there are entire maps laid out how they would be played. This is incredible if you have to do level design, or for mocking up a scene for fun.
Game UI Database
Not pixel-art specific, but UI is a very challenging part of graphics, so this site can be a game-changer for finding good references!
Retronator
A digital newspaper for pixel-art lovers! New game releases, tutorials, and artworks!
Itch.io
A website where people can upload, games, assets, tools... An amazing hub for game devs and game fans alike.

secret third technically more harmless but in practicality more frustrating relationship status is “objectively they’re a fine person and they like so many of the same things i do but they like them in a fundamentally different way that is harmless but reads wrong to my brain and it has made attempts at forming an actual bond with them aggravating more than anything”
tbh i think stuff like this is why so many people, especially younger people, fall into this trap of “well if i don’t like a person or thing, they must be bad”. it would be so much easier if you could dismiss them as bad and move on. but it’s like, no, Objectively Fine people or things can just not mesh well with you for totally subjective reasons. and sometimes when they’re people you mesh much better with their brain than they do with yours. and sometimes you have to live with that.
listen, the trust events are nice but Lighter's are on a whole 'nother level. (keep in mind I'm missing 9 characters and biased lol)
not only does he get protective over you and basically confess he loves you/would die for you, he has more fun options
most characters are just doing something that's part of their day, or will do a quick small hangout (usual with you paying for something), but Lighter legit will just go out of his way to hangout with you, even if it seems silly like playing in the sand together
I want more female characters who are just so bad at comforting others. Not for lack of trying or caring, they just get so so awkward when someone's upset, and they try to repeat things they've heard even if it doesn't necessarily apply to the situation, or they accidentally say the wrong thing and make it worse. If someone cries they panic and throw every single comfort technique down at once and it only helps because it's such bizarre behaviour
Basically I'm tired of female characters having the inherent “good helper/wise advisor” trait just bc they're women, and I'm also tired of the faux progressive 'female characters must have no emotion whatsoever'. People seem to think the opposite of being a good caretaker is just not caring, when actually the opposite of being a good caretaker is not knowing which care to take and when or how. Like throwing water onto an oil fire. Putting blankets over someone who is claustrophobic. Recommending family time to an orphan. Etc. I want a female character who will be up with you until 3am because you're struggling but she can't stop quoting Mister Rogers because she has NO idea what to say. Even if she's experienced the same things, she just has no idea how to convey any wisdom through words and gets super duper awkward if you start crying
