Week 10 Blog Task

Savage sums it up nicely. 

A compelling action scene with some lovely and vivid description. Particularly like the punchy one-word sentences - made the read feel like we were falling through the same fast moving landscape as Floris and Ella. Would’ve like a bit more of characterisation Floris - right now she sounds a tiny bit like the stock lost, little girl, but I’m sure that’ll come. Also is the VO at the end meant to be from Floris or Ella??

‘Rough Crowd’ - Set up and Inciting Incident.  (A lot of you might have already read this as I based it off a script I did for a PSW task a while back pls don’t judge me)

Set Up

We see failing comedians Jack and Todd exit a comedy club. They talk about the failed routine, their “rough crowd”, and cynical Jack considers quitting. The two are unaware of a murder taking place behind them, carried out by the Serbian Mafia. 

Inciting Incident

The two turn and see the dead body...

Obstacle No.1

The boys are kidnapped by the Serbian Mafia who hold them hostage. 

Reaction

The boys are now prisoners of the mafia, led by Dragän, who hints at their demise.

Obstacle No.2

After realising they can’t escape, the boys are bored af in the basement where they are being kept captive. 

Reaction

To pass time Jack and Todd decide to practise their comedy routine, which is overheard by Dragan. He tells the boys that if they perform in his club ‘The Underworld’ - and get laughs - they can live. 

Obstacle No.3

The two have to prepare a routine to perform for the criminals and mafia members of Dragan’s club.  

Reaction

The boys go onstage and perform their routine.

Conclusion

To their surprise, they are met with laughter and a standing ovation. They have finally found the audience for them.
