300. āOkay, the blood isnāt mine, calm down.ā***Riley walked along the ill lit sidewalk, alone, cold, and scared. She was scared of walking alone in the hallways at school, but that was nothing compared to walking alone down the sidewalks of New York. She heard footsteps behind her, but that was soon followed by what sounded like two men getting into a fight, but the footsteps came back. They began to sound faster, faster, and faster. Riley turned to see a dark figure sprinting towards her, she screamed at the top of her lungs. "Riley!" Lucas yelled, "Riley it's just me, stop screaming! It's me.""Lucas?" she asked, trying to make out his features in the dark."Yeah, it's me, Lucas."Riley walked towards her boyfriend hesitantly, something felt off. She pulled out her phone and turned on the flashlight. She shone the flashlight upon Lucas' bloodstained body and clothes. "Lucas! Why are you covered in blood? Oh my gosh, are you okay?" she asked worriedly as she checked him for any visible bumps or bruises."Okay the blood isn't mine, calm down." he replied, hoping she wouldn't catch on to what that meant. "Oh thank goodness." she sighed in relief. She leaned in to hug him but stopped, inches from his body, "Wait, if it's not your blood, than who's is it?" "Haha, about that," he scratched the back of his neck, "it's a long story.""Well, let's go back to my place, we can get you cleaned up and then you're going to tell me." she said, feeling proud for knowing what to do in a situation like this. "Yes ma'am." Lucas playfully nudged Riley's side and took her hand in his. Riley sat in her bed, waiting for Lucas to finish his shower. She was worried, what could Lucas have done? He's a good guy, it couldn't be that bad, but he does have a history of being violent and letting his anger get the best of him. She paced back and forth through her room, startled when Lucas opened the door. Riley found it easier to relax now that he was wearing bloodstain-free clothing. She grabbed his hand, pulled him to her trusted bay window, and sat him down saying, "Bay window! Bay window right now!"Lucas chuckled at how adorable she was, "Okay, I know you're eager to hear but here's the thing, you can't interrupt while I'm telling the story okay?" "Why would I interrupt?" she asked. "Well you are going to jump to conclusions so just wait until I'm done before you say anything."Riley nodded her head, just wanting to hear the story. "Okay," Lucas began, "so I ended up getting in a fight.""What?" Riley asked in disbelief, "Lucas I tho-""Riley you promised you wouldn't interrupt.""Right, sorry." she pretended to zip and lock her lips shut. Lucas chuckled before continuing, "So, as I was walking downtown, I was actually on my way here, I saw you ahead of me. I knew I wasn't going to catch you unless I ran so I was going to wait until we got closer to your apartment.""So that was you following me the whole time?" Riley asked. "Riley, I'm serious." Lucas reminded her."Ah sorry.""Okay so as I was walking, I saw this guy, this really shady, creepy guy, start to follow you. Now being the perfect gentleman and boyfriend that I am," he bowed with poise, "I decided to see who this guy was. I ran to him only to find that it was none other than Charlie Gardner."Riley gasped but quickly covered her mouth in guilt. "I could tell something was a bit off for Charlie," Lucas continued, "so I asked him what he was doing. All of the sudden the jerk punched me in the gut, so I swung back and hit him in the face, the mouth, to be specific. Well....it turns out he had just gotten a tooth pulled and was a little loopy, so he spit blood all over me. Then his mom came over and found him, she told me he ran away from the dentist." At this point Riley was cracking up. She couldn't believe any of this. "Riley?" Lucas asked, "This is not how I thought you'd respond.""I'm sorry," Riley said giggling, "I just thought you were going to have this big bad story about saving my life or something, but it was just a loopy Charlie Gardner." Riley erupted with laughter, which made Lucas laugh too, "I guess it was a little misleading." They laughed together for a while, and they knew that would be a conversation they'd remember for a long time. ***Ah oh my gosh I'm so sorry that was honestly terrible, it was a hard prompt but that doesn't excuse my poor writing skills. Sorry about this one.
