I present you... The Valkyries!
Cassian, on bedrest healing from an injury: You can’t expect me to just lay around all day.
Nesta: That is EXACTLY what will be happening, or I will tie you to the bedframe to keep you there.
Cassian: Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Nesta: Fine. I will have AZRIEL tie you instead.
Cassian: …………still a good time.
Nesta: YOU ARE IMPOSSIBLE. Is there ANYONE in this court you don’t have a flirtatious dynamic with?
Cassian:
Nesta:
Cassian:
Nesta: I will have Amren tie——
Cassian: NO PLEASE I’LL BE GOOD
Even when Nesta was depressed, drunk, and suicidal, she still overcame her fear of bathtubs alone. She would sit in the tub until the water was cold and she was shivering, even after vomiting... She sat until she learned to overcome her fears.
And people say my girl didn't try.
nesta: just sex right
cassian on the inside: she was everything to him, a voice on the wind calling him home, the river running through his heart. he'd meant every dying word his broken body had allowed. and he knew the lifetimes before him would be dark and desolate without her sun to shine upon him, the twin moons of her eyes stirring the tides of his love.
cassian on the outside: yeppers
Everything Feyre accuses Nesta of is projection.
In ACOTAR, Feyre says Nesta will use what happened to Feyre - getting taken by Tamlin - as a sob story to gather sympathy from people in the village, yet all of ACOWAR Feyre is using Nesta and Elain's kidnapping by Hybern as a sob story to get empathy from the other courts and as an excuse to tear apart the Spring Court.
In ACOTAR, Feyre states Nesta is prone to crave anything someone else possesses, yet it is Feyre who is sleeping with an engaged man. It is Feyre who was sexualizing Lucien in her thoughts after she was aware that he and Elain were mates. It is Feyre who became the social climber that married for conquest, thus fulfilling her mother’s plans for Nesta.
In ACOTAR, Feyre said that Nesta was probably glad she was gone and had extra room in the cottage, yet earlier in the book it was Feyre who said if Nesta wanted to marry and leave then she’d be closer to having a peaceful future with a quiet house and enough time to paint.
All throughout the series, Feyre implies Nesta is the one to start their disagreements, yet we see on page Feyre is always seeking out Nesta, rarely the other way around. And that Feyre is always initiating the arguments with passive aggressiveness or pushing boundaries.
Feyre has explicitly claimed that Nesta coddles and would fight for Elain and not her, yet Nesta went to the wall for Feyre and baited the KoH away so Feyre could reach the Cauldron. Feyre, on the other hand, did nothing when Nesta got kidnapped both times, but she did go get Elain when Hybern took her. Feyre also allowed Elain to opt out of the Hewn City ball but never considered if Nesta was comfortable being coerced into seducing Eris. Feyre also blackmailed Nesta into going to her solstice party in ACOFAS knowing Nesta wasn’t comfortable around her friends, but told Nesta that Elain wouldn’t feel comfortable at the tavern.
I'm certain there are more examples, but overall Feyre is exactly who she accuses Nesta of being. In fact, I would go so far as to say that all of Feyre’s issues with Nesta are because she is envious of Nesta. That’s why she has to be the first to control the narrative surrounding Nesta. Feyre has badmouthed her to everyone who listens and then puts her in uncomfortable positions so of course she looks like the bad guy. But if you really pay attention, Feyre has achieved the life that their mother groomed Nesta to achieve. She is exactly who Nesta was supposed to be by their mother’s standards. And it likely rubs her the wrong way that Nesta doesn’t care to be around it or play a part in it. That’s why she has to force her to be around her family because how else can she rub it in Nesta’s face and feel superior?
They’re dead. Everything but Elriel. Elriel confirmed right there
Remember when Amarantha killed Feyre and then the HLs brought her back to life? Could you imagine if, a few minutes after that happened, Rhys said (in front of everyone) "you're my mate"?
That would be some pretty shitty timing, wouldn't it? I mean, she was with Tamlin, newly Fae, still learning about the history and culture, etc.
It's almost like...a romance that is meant to happen organically...doesn't start with a declaration of staking a claim on someone in a traumatic moment.
This reminds me of something but I just can't put my finger on it. 🤔
Azriel be like:
“What if the Cauldron was wrong?” I love her.
“You can’t order me to do that.” I love her.
“I can help her.” I love her.
“What of Elain?” I love her.
“I’m getting her back.” I love her.
“She doesn’t need anything.” I love her.
“It would be an invasion of her privacy to track him.” I love her.
“Wait until everyone is seated before eating.” I love her.
“We’re the ones who need … a Seer.” I love her.
“Would you like me to show you the garden?” I love her.
“What happened to Elain?” I love her.
“This is Truth-teller. I won’t be using it today—so I want you to.” I love her.
“Sit. I’ll take care of it.” I love her.
“Would you want people betting on you?” I love her.
“I’d feel bad for the mice.” I love her.
“We need Helion to get these chains off her.” I love her.
“There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to.” I love her.
“You don’t—don’t apologize. Never apologize. It’s I who should…” I love her.
“This was a mistake.” I love her.
“Are you hurt?” I love her.
“My shadows don’t like the flames so much.” I love her.
“I lost the snowball fight today.” I love her.
“You’d know if she died. Right here—you’d know, Cass.” I love her.
Have you ever noticed how both Azriel's and Elain's last appearances in ACOSF are them holding Nyx?
“Elain had always been gentle and sweet—and I had considered it a different sort of strength. A better strength. To look at the hardness of the world and choose, over and over, to love, to be kind. She had been always so full of light.” ✨
reminder that Azriel got shot in the CHEST and lost consciousness right before the cauldron made Elain and Lucien mates. this can't be a coincidence
My husband decided to read ACOTAR, and he just read the scenes in ACOWAR where Azriel takes Elain to the garden and figures out what's going on with her. He shared his thoughts with me.
"Wow. His shadows just disappeared around her."
"What do you think that means?"
"He's comfortable around her. The shadows hide him literally and figuratively, but they leave around her. He's showing himself to her."
Then, he reads the scene where Lucien doesn't know what's going on with Elain, and how he was able to tug on the bond.
"He sounds skeptical that he can figure out what's going on with her. Like his voice is unconvinced. And then he's surprised that he could tug on the bond and something was actually there. It's like he knows that it's off or something. And really, when you think about the Cauldron, it all felt like a science experiment, like no one really knew how it would turn out and Elain and Nesta were just guinea pigs, so the whole thing had some positive effects but seems to have some negative ones too."
Then, he reads the scene where Az realizes Elain is a seer.
"He's a badass spy who is the ears of the Night Court and she's a seer? The ears and eyes? Talk about a power couple."
Anyway, just your daily reminder that this is the conclusion casual readers draw. The end.
Rhys almost crying when Feyre smiles at him for the first time
🤝🏼
Azriel randomly standing in the doorway listening to Elain’s laugh
Just a reminder that Elain and Azriel’s fingers occasionally brush against each other😌
Look at these perfect drawings, leave some love for the artist on her TikTok: evelyndsgn 💙🩷
I will not let this go.
Everything. EVERYTHING Elriels have been saying about the story being told was true.
Elain’s story is all about choice, agency.
Rhys is not evil. He’s allowed to go through his own shit and make the wrong call, including telling Azriel to stay away from Elain.
Tamlin is abusive. Elain is not going to date her sister’s abuser.
Lucien is partially responsible for Elain’s trauma. She’s not going to get over that.
Bryce and Hunt are endgame.
What if the cauldron was wrong? = Nature did not pick right.
So no, I’m not going to believe this is the one thing we’ve been wrong about.
I can’t wait to read their story 💙🩷
