could you tell us more about your rudolph turn-based rpg you could be making? :]
Absolutely, thank you for the ask!
The basic plan is a story-based game with lots of areas to explore, characters to talk to, and secrets to uncover, all culminating in some sort of epic final battle. It will most likely use a pixel art style to save time when making sprites, but I'm not sure yet. I am still in the very early planning stages lol. The game will be 100% free to play and I may have to work out something to avoid getting a cease and desist from The Rudolph Company or Universal since I want to keep the original character names. It will be based on the 1964 special, the 1963 draft screenplay, all of the sequels (including 2001), and the 2010 DS game, with some non-canon elements added. The storyline is set some time after the events of the original special.
I don't have any completed work besides this small sprite that will likely be used when walking around the map. Below are some sketches I made last year for some of Clarice's planned battle moves.
The party consists of: Rudolph (magic), Hermey (cleric), Clarice (Bard), and Yukon (fighter). All characters have a set of basic moves as well as special moves, some of which cost MP or are limited to single-use items that are found, given by NPCs, or bought in the shops. I think the main currency will be peppermints :P
One of my ideas is that, after all the misfit toys are gone, King Moonracer gets lonely and decides to turn the Island into a paradise for old or disheveled toys that are no longer played with.
Here's a rough preview of the "Island for Retired Toys" main theme song:
