Have you ever struck someone out of anger?
iâve never struck someone, ever. for any reason.
tits or ass?
brains, mate. what the fuck?
What is something that most people learn only when it is too late?
the value of their own life.
What is the best way the one percent could spend their money?
put it back into the economy. give it to the people who need it most.Â
soooo who do ya have your eye on?
right now, my daughter. i barely have time to sleep, yet alone date.

harlow rolled her eyes at rue before then smiling. âthank you, but iâll pay for yours next time.â she replied, looking up at the other after she finished her drink. âitâs nothing major, iâm just exhausted.â she admitted. âi mean, what with my new solo career and work and all, itâs a lot.â
he knew better than to argue with her, but the gentleman in him would always insist on paying for the drinks of someone so beautiful. ânew solo career, eh? thatâs excitinâ. howâs it been goinâ for ya?â he knew first hand that the music scene of new york was a fickle and unforgiving mistress, but also that sometimes, there was nothing else in life you were meant to do.

heâs happy that his attempt at flirting has seemed to pay off . â yeah ? â he says , leaning forward on the bar , flashing his own ( hopefully ) charming smile . â when do you have a break ? or , a minute where we can .. you know . â he laughs at his own words . â i mean , it will be longer than a minute .. i promise i last longer than that . â
he let out a laugh, looking down at the watch on his wrist. âah, âbout ten minutes or so.â he answered, mentally beginning the checklist of things he needed to do before break, since it was likely to be an eventful one. âwhy donât we start with a name and drink of choice while weâre waitinâ?â he grabbed the towel from his back pocket and grabbed a glass from where they sat on the corner of the bar.Â

it was sunday night , and byeongsu had decided to hit the bar after a busy weekend . he didnât expect many to be there ( except , maybe the regulars who came every day ) , but was happily proven wrong by the rather attractive bartender he had encountered upon sitting down . â hi . â he says softly , getting the otherâs attention . â i know youâre going to offer me some sort of drink special , but iâd like to know if youâre on the menu . â @rueoconghaileâ
suddenly, rue was glad he had been called into work on his day off. at first, he had only accepted for the money, but the night had quickly become far more exciting than he had expected. it was quiet, as it usually was on a night like this, so when the handsome dark-haired guest spoke, he was free to engage. the come on caught him slightly off guard, although he was certainly flattered. ânot officially, but for a smile like that i could be.â he flirted back, flashing the boy his most charming smile.

âah, big boss teagan â luckily for you, i am aware of her taste. unless she prefers a different vibe when sheâs working.â he tells him, crossing his arms over each other as he leans on the counter. he loved to watch rue perform â he had a certain kind of magic to him when he sang, that had jack in an odd trance. his looks certainly helped, but he was one of those guys who were made for music. as someone who had their whole life revolve around music, it was important for jack to see those people thrive in ways that he could not bring himself to. âcome on, iâll play us a song or two that could get the inspiration flowing a little bit.â he tells him with a grin, flipping through his music library that was currently playing on aux throughout the store. finally, he settles on forget her by jeff buckley.Â
rue nodded as he talked about their mutual friend. he had met teagan only days after he and lizard arrived in new york and he applied to play at her club. life came at him fast after that but teagan always went out of her way to help him out. sheâd become one of his closest friends and lizard loved her. it warmed his heart to see jack, who he had also come to care about, speak so warmly of her. he watched in silence, admiring the view, as jack milled about, changing the song playing around them. âoh, jeff buckley. always a good choice.â he hummed along quietly as he listened. he had only discovered this artist thanks to jack, but he was quickly becoming one of rueâs favourites. although, he wasnât sure if it was the quality music or the man who recommended it that made the songs his new favourite.

harlow had just finished a long day of work and sheâd be lying if she said she wasnât tired, even as much as she loved her job. there were times she wished she didnât have to work as she had been trying to start up her own solo career for a while, but she knew she couldnât do that without at least a little bit of cash. as she headed into the bar and sat down with her head on the counter, slowly falling asleep, she grinned when rue got closer. âyou donât have to do that, rue.â she replied as she still took the drink. âi can happily pay for it.â she replied.
thereâs no denying that rue was a soft, sentimental man. it likely stemmed from his upbringing, as unforgiving as it was. âtoo late, love. itâs already done.â he teased with a small smile, grabbing the rag from his back pocket to wipe down the top of the bar. âyou look like yaâve seen the run of it.â his tone was sympathetic, he knew better than most what it was like to try and follow your dreams when the world was against you. âiâm no therapist but iâm a good ear if you need one.â
My favorite type of characters are âtheyâre not dumb but they are a dumbassâ
Characters with enough intellect and common sense to clearly and easily grasp that something is a Bad Idea, but with enough chaotic dumbass energy to decide they gotta just go ahead with it anyway are on point.
kamidesaiâ
Kam immediately scrambled to wrap his arms around Rueâs neck, holding himself up as best he could as he was carried towards the dumpster. Oh god, did they really have to actually go look at it? He really didnât want to be abducted by aliens again. âI mean, I wanna believe that, yeah.â Kam replied when he was asked if he knew he was safe, dark eyes now stuck scanning the larger maleâs face. Damn, he really was devastatingly handsome, and it was making it even harder than normal to string together a coherent thought. Seriously, that was hard enough as it is. âBut what if something like, jumps out and claws our faces off?â Kam asked as if it was a completely normal thing to be worried about. He wasnât even paying attention to the fact that his hands were now playing with the hair at the base of Rueâs neck.
he couldnât help but laugh, looking down at the man in his arms. âdonât worry, iâll protect you from the big bad raccoons.â he flashed him a dashing smile with a wink and slowly approached the dumpster. he used his elbow to flip open the lid, his hold on kam never faltering. it was not difficult for him to see over the top, and he let out a breath he didnât even realize he was holding. âlook, itâs just a possum. they donât even carry rabies. their body temperature is too low. aww, and sheâs got babies. see? harmless.â he stepped away from the dumpster to give the mother animal some space, but didnât set him down. it felt rather nice to have him this close, as it usually did.Â

âhonestly, i dunno why ya thought it was such a good idea to try anâ outdrink an irishman, but you should quit while youâre ahead.â he was only teasing, of course, and if morgan kept up her pace she was going to leave his already-drunk ass in the dust. he hadnât had a chance to get good and drunk like this in awhile, but he missed it. and morgan was always the best drinking partner. his face lit up in a grin as he turned to her, swaying slightly on his feet. âman, i wish we had go karts. no, no, no not go karts. the ones with the padding. bumper carts? somethinâ like that.â ( @morgan-walkerâ )
Morgans eyebrow rose as she listened to Rue. âWell, the upper east side has their own problems. I wouldnât say Iâm an alcoholic, I donât drink a lot but I drink often, so weâll do with that what we will.â She rambled on. âI donât see you coming for the title, Rue.â She giggled. âBumper cars! My dad would take me out to Coney Island when I was a kid, we would hang out for hours and play all the arcade games. One of my favorite things to do there were the bumper cars.â She reminisced, slightly slurring. âSo, where do they have bumper cars?â Morgan asked.
âyeah, iâm learnin tâ be âfraid of you pretty ones. iâm startinâ to figure out iâm in over my head here. hell, even the kidâs smarter than me most days.â he laughed, stumbling slightly. he looked at the beer in his hand and how it sloshed, threatening to spill, and he shushed it, as if talking to a crying baby. âaw damn, yano, i donât actually know where tâ go. coney island, i guess, but i doubt theyâll be open this late.â he huffed, disappointed in the fact that he wouldnât get to visit the famous landmark tonight. âiâve never actually been tâ a park like that.â

ellie felt lucky to have rue and lizard in her life. she loved the family to pieces and loved spending time with them, lizard was adorable and sheâd always found rue incredibly talented, hard working, and an amazing father, all amazing qualities. âhey !!â she greeted as soon as she walked in, giving rue a brief hug before fully walking in. the blondeâs smile grew tenfold at the sound of lizardâs squeals, the toddlerâs reaction to her presence making her feel warm inside. âoh, itâs okay, itâs my night off. plus, this is for sure the hottest hang out spot in town.â ellie replied with a wink and a soft laugh. having been raised by a single mother, ellie knew that sometimes last minute things came up and you needed someone to look after your kid asap. so she really didnât mind the short notice. âare you doing okay, though ?â she asked, a hint of concern behind her eyes. ellie wasnât really sure what she could do to help if the answer was ânoâ, but damn it, sheâd find a way. âyou know you can always come to me if you need any help, right ?â
ellieâs kindness never failed to amaze him. she cared with her whole heart in a way he could only dream of, and there was a part of him that made him wish his father could have met her. a person like ellie was rare in dreary world his father and he had shared once, but maybe his father would have been a better one if heâd had ellie on his side too. rue never wanted to believe that he was destined to be as as terrible as his father was--a fact which he was only beginning to come to terms with--but the alternative hurt worse. if rue had the choice to be a better parent to his child, then his dad had been given the same choice. and while the latter of the two broke his heart, he knew it meant better for his daughter, and thatâs all he cared about. she was what all of this was for. he scooped the little girl up into his arms, grinning as she reached out for ellie. âoverworked and underpaid but yeah, iâm doinâ pretty good. how about you? howâs logan?â it was true, he was doing better than at any other point in his life. he had been lucky to find enough work to provide for his girl and still have a bit of time to himself once in awhile, and a great group of people in his life who cared about them. after spending so much of his life feeling alone, it was a nice feeling.
ella-isms
ella would definitely classify herself as a caffeine addict by this point in her life. having to wake up early and be in the studio didnât help, the femme hadnât ever been a morning person so even though she grabbed a cup o joe on her way to work, she definitely needed more to continue going. the ballerina spent a few grueling hours in the studio and now it was time to refuel. ella was sipping her coffee and absent-mindedly doodling in a notebook that sat on the table in front of her. it took her a moment to realize someone was even talking to her, the girl was often in her own world. âoh. hm, letâs see,â she gave a quick glance around, not spotting it. until it dawned on her to move her bag from the chair next to her, revealing the phone underneath, picking it up she offered it to him, âyouâre in luck.â
he couldnât withhold the sigh of relief when she was able to find it, a wide grin spreading across his face. he had spent way too much money on that damn thing, he had to make sure it could hold enough games and videos to keep lizard occupied and calm while they were out. âah, youâre a life saver, love.â he gasped, taking it from her and shoving it into his back pocket where he knew it would be safe. his eyes caught on the notebook in front of her, fascinated by the doodles she had drawn on itâs surface. âdâya mind if i ask what it is you drew there? itâs kinda neat.â he kicked himself for sounding like a weirdo, but she seemed pretty nice and hopefully would forgive him for his awkwardness.Â
