I think it’s important that artists have critics.

Before I hear hate comments saying how I’m a hypocrite, please let me explain.

Artists, as everyone else, need feedback and help from the public. An author doesn’t publish a book without editing, or sharing it with someone to peer review. That’s just not smart. now. at the same time. wishing death on an artist or saying they should never speak again for releasing music that doesn’t align with your interests is actually insane. I’m not afraid to say that. I got a message in my inbox that says “I’m excited for Taylor swift to die” and saying how much hatred they feel. um, as the incomparable taylor herself said…honey.

every artist needs critics.

but there is a fine line between someone critiquing taylor swift’s work and wishing death on her.

i just cannot reconcile the poems she wrote for this album, with the actual lyrics of the album. and it isnt about using big words or speaking only in metaphor. the way she writes is just beautiful, it's like its own song. how can she write that prologue (all the poems together) but then the lyrics on so many of the songs fall so flat

i don't understand where people are getting the idea that cancelled is about the mahomes etc. to me it's very clearly about like blake and sophie and selena and sabrina? women who got "cancelled" for having opinions and not caring abt what men think

im really trying not to be a hater but, generative ai videos??? seriously????? she has unlimited money and resources to make actual real art. she can do whatever the fuck she wants. so tell me why those are all ai videos!! what the fuck!!!!! do you or do you not support artists bc ai sure as fuck is not on the side of artists

As a swiftie, today I am REALLY understanding why people hate us. Not every criticism of this woman is an attack on you or feminism. Not every negative review on The Life Of A Showgirl is by someone who hates Taylor Swift. Not every person going online saying the album is bad means ill of you or Taylor.

Please close tumblr or twitter or whatever and enjoy the album if this is bothering you so much. If you cannot handle criticism of the art you enjoy, then don’t engage with it!
