jughead + his dad
hope. a word so close to home, and as tricky.
Hereâs a joke: my Father.
â well if it isnât jason blossom, riverdale highâs brightest star. â   Â
THEREâS NO MALICE TO HIS TONE, no locked up sentiments -- just truth. Â late night always attracting strays to popâs chockâlit shoppe, tonight colours him no more surprised than 2am reggie eating his weight in fries for attempted sobriety. Â
rain pelts down, beating glass panelling in hidden mantra. Â and perhaps the stars have aligned tonight, sending him someone interesting enough to write about. Â either way, heâll tempt the blade pressed to his throat, curiosity always insatiable. Â Â
â isnât it a little late to be out and about on a school night? â    // * @deathmystery
me, cringing as i pay for yet another university semester: iâm fine.
ITâS A LATE FRIDAY EVENING, and thereâs a boy entering the diner -- no, a man, early-20s and covered in tattoos of the likes heâs never seen before.  all too familiar with inken scrawlings, he assumes its gang related -- assumes this conversation will stockpile into amiability in some alternate universe where night-owls get along. Â
but here, theyâre drifting in earth 1.0. Â here, he makes no such promises.
â âif youâre passing through, there are worse places to stop. the burgers here are really something else. â     // * @humanityrot
starter call.
Weâre not our parents, Betty. Weâre not our families.
gingerleik.
the universe never flicks him tips to map-read minefields, just oh, and by the way crumbs after the blast to trace back to the motive and its engineer. archie didnât realizeâ- he hadnât decided to numb parts of himself with some gnarled padding, but now heâs being disarmed of its necessity and heâs hurting out of his skin from an achy, thawing fondness. Â
he can still speak jughead (and jugheadâs at least curious, because thatâs a thrown bone, even though he doesnât deserve it). â so he shakes his head.
âi wouldnât want her to. ever.â Â ever again.
the sky bruises as the sun pushes down, lush red around its molten edge.
missed you.Â
from here on, anything he says is too cheap and everything he doesnât say is too heavy. he thinks heâs closer to understanding jugheadâs (overloud) apathy to out-there sentiment as preemptive stitches â and archie is comfortable in their difference.Â
he zips up his guitar back to sleep.
âi could eat something. dâyou wannaââŠ? dadâs probably gonna send me, anyway, so.âÂ
JUST LIKE OLD TIMES.  their rehearsed narrative a modern classic putting shakespeareâs emotionally constipated tybalt capulet to shame.  but no star-crossed lovers lay here.  just two friends, once equal, now rifted.
do you even want to fit the narrative anymore, archie? did you ever want to fit the narrative?
that letterman jacket says otherwise. that singing voice -- that want for fame and fortune and popularity -- that drive for approval from those superstars mocked at 4am companionship.
are you a traitor now, archie? or is this who youâve always been?
â âi could eat, if youâre buying. â
money, money, money. Â a concept loathed by those without beds to sleep in, without couches to surf, without the luxury of security at 2am, sleeping at a bus stop with a knapsack under head. Â itâs the kind of concept a teenage boy shouldnât have to worry about -- unless he grows up too fast, but never quite fills those adult shoes.
â but if you suggest anywhere other than popâs, weâre over for good, romeo. â  Â
ok family, i am home from my roadtrip, but iâm exhausted and havenât watched the latest episode yet. Â so iâll be back tomorrow probably! Â catcha later, beans x
i promise you my pain wasnât poetic. it was days without sleep and pretending i was stable enough to continue.
i am tired of this sadness. ( via ofraid )
