when you don’t know what to do
write a to do list
attempt to do one task for 5 minutes
do not force yourself to continue
make a cup of tea or coffee
non caffeinated herbal tea if you are feeling anxious
coffee if you’re used to it!
take a nap with warm blankets
maybe you need a full break from your work
watch your favorite movie but do not allow yourself to touch your computer/phone while its playing
surprisingly this act of focus can help you to later be motivated to focus on a task later!
read one chapter of your favorite book
take a shower in dim lighting (but stay safe)
if you are in a dorm and do not have options for dim lighting, try leaving your phone flashlight on near your shower, but again do not do this if you are setting yourself up to slip
aromatherapy, grab some essential oils and just smell them, see how it makes you feel

2020 is my seventh year recording my miles in a training log! I started back with a simple one that I found at Barnes and Noble in 2014, won a Believe Training Journal for 2015, and have then continued using Believe and Compete journals ever since! I wish I started keeping track even sooner, but that’s okay! In 50 years I think it’ll be pretty cool to be able to look back at my “glory years” 😜 Lots of memories, both big and small, are in these books!
Mileage through the years:
2014 - 1,380 (Anemia diagnosis halfway thru year)
2015 - 1,640 (First 26.2!)
2016 - 2,016 (26.2 x 1)
2017 - 2,105 (26.2 x 2)
2018 - 2,073 (26.2 x 1 + 50k + 50mi)
2019 - 2,210 (26.2 x 3)
2020 - 90 so far two weeks in 😉
Stop telling yourself that the grass is greener on the other side, because it’s not. It is greener where you water it. So take control of your life and start watering your own pastures and grow your own greener grasses.
