I guess it’s complete 😅 My journey is complete... until next year’s! An amazing experience all round. The journey, the races, the crowds, the marathon. Priceless.

Tomorrow is finally the day! Feeling nervous and excited. Let’s do this.
Breaking in the new shoes in New Zealand ready for marathon after 24 hours of flights....aching legs and knees....hope it goes away.
Bronx 10 mile!
TCS 18 Mile Marathon Training Run 3h05m
Central Park!
Fifth Avenue Mile. FAST! 6’33”.... afterwards felt like a near death race experience lol 😤
14 Mile training run....then a 6 mile walk uphill back to the car....my legs need ice....swollen...the beer helps a lot though. But it’s still not 26.2... 😬
Great fast course in Harlem!
Serious mid week training face.... 7 miles in the heat after gym....yup...nuts...completely nuts 😂 Someone asked me on the path what I was running for, I said a marathon, they said how far is that? I said 26 miles and a bit. They said....nothing, looked at me like I was a lunatic and then smiled and walked off. I have officially been rejected by normal society and the general public. Plus I used to enjoy ice cream and pints of beer...
Saw a bear up close on Sunday. Even the bear looked at me weird...😃
This one was fun! 1.5 miles in the humid morning summer heat. As fast as you can up a gentle slope and down in Central Park. My first mile was 7’12!! Thought I’d die though! Lol enjoyable quick run.
Training in earnest. The full is much bigger that the half. Can I do it? Sometimes I think for sure! Other times....never! But perhaps that’s part of the training! It appears mental strength is key.
12 Mile TCS NYC Marathon training run. 12 weeks serious training starts! Feels good. Still a little nervous. Steady as it goes.....found that going to gym three times a week helps for leg and core strengthening. I only need one gel at 4 miles, one at 8 miles. No big carb up the night before, just sleep and a banana and Pinola drink in the morning. No longer drinking loads of water during the race, running with a small bottle that I sip from and it all felt A LOT better.
Shoutout to my buddies at #zpurs for a GREAT new product on kickstarter! No more messy footwear.

Early morning volunteer for the 9+1....Central Park NYC
Training for my first FULL marathon...NYC Nov 2019
Ok I registered, I paid.....BUT...how in the world can I actually RUN for double the distance of a half! Never did more than that and today I definitely don’t feel I ever could. But....I will try....
There are many MANY training plans. I probably could do with some professional advice too...so I don’t collapse in a heap and say bye-bye not only to this blog....
I’m about 25 weeks out so I guess I’d better bite the bullet and find something that works for me after I recover fully from my half. Training plans are about 16-20 weeks in duration so time is on my side...
Here’s a great article about the history of the marathon and some good advice:

Get the facts before you go the distance.
