“ Oh, hey! ” Yona waved excitedly when she noticed Katerina, very relieved that she saw someone who could actually lend her a hand here. She had taken a walk because her room had started to feel stifling and she wasn’t getting any good decisions made in there. “ Kat, are you free right now? Or even a little later? I need your help. ” She didn’t wait for a response before jogging over to greet her packmate. Unless Katerina was really busy, Yona assumed that she could at least make a request and get a response. Maybe a good chat would be helpful. “ It’s open mic today at the café, and I literally have no idea what to wear. I’d ask HJ, but there’s a good chance she’d just pick whatever’s the most pink. And I don’t thin that’s the vibe I want to project for today. ”

HEARING someone call out to her, katerina looked over her shoulder and offered a smile when she saw her packmate. “ hey yona! ” she greeted tenderly as the other approached her. when asked if she was doing anything later, kat thought for a minute before shaking her head. “ i don’t think i have anything going on. why? ” she asked before listening as the other mentioned open mic, causing her eyes to light up almost immediately. “ first off, how dare you not tell me about open mic. you know how much i love those. secondly, i will definitely help you find something to wear. pink is absolutely not the vibe of the day. ”

CHLOE gestured over at a person walking into the cafe and put a finger to her lips. It was what she hoped was the universal ‘shush’ gesture. Chloe could be loud when she didn’t have her excitement under control, but she was in stealth party planner mode for the day. “ It’s that man’s birthday, and I’m supposed to make sure he doesn’t find out that there’s a party in the works for him in a few hours. How do you think I should distract him? ” It wasn’t the most normal person to ask someone else just passing by, but Chloe was all about soliciting ideas.

AS chloe pointed towards the man, sapphire watched him curiously, listening to the other woman’s words as she spoke. “ ooh, i love birthdays! ” saph spoke in a hushed tone of excitement, before shaking her head to get her mind back on track. “ stay focused saph. ” she told herself. “ um...honestly, i’m at a loss. no clue. do you know what he does for a living? maybe we could find something work related to distract him? ”

“ I said get a hold of yourself, ” Steffi repeated, totally unfazed by the ire her comment seemed to have drawn. “ You’re getting in the way, and your little concerned act is tacky. ” She was startled that Katerina had successfully identified her, but didn’t show it - showing surprise was a form of weakness as far as she was concerned. This was a curious development though - she might have to be cautious of both Katerina and Oskar in the future until she determined how exactly her identity had been guessed. “ I have my ways, and I don’t need to divulge them to you, ” she answered. Admitting that it was just because she’d happened to run into Katerina’s body earlier and not due to any particular talent of her own would also be a sign of weakness. 

“ who’s to say i don’t have a hold of myself? ” katerina challenged confidently as she looked at the woman before her. kat couldn’t help but roll her eyes, an instinct that she always tried to fight but had never been successful at doing. steffi’s answer to how she’d known it was her seemed to annoy katerina, only causing her to roll her eyes once more. “ whatever you say. ” she muttered lightly. “ you know, it’s weird, seeing elaine’s body yet being met with such coldness. ” she spoke, almost teasingly.

WYATT’S smile faltered a bit, but she tried her best to keep up pretenses. “ Are you alright? Are you lost? Is there anyone I can call? ” She asked, wondering if a vampire merely dumped this girl in an empty hotel room after bleeding her, what with all her bite marks. “ I’m Wy–Yona. I’m Yona. What’s your name? ” She asked, biting her lip and hoping that she didn’t notice her slipup.  The elders haven’t really made any announcements regarding the state of the town, and the last thing she wanted was to cause anyone any trouble. 

THE way that this woman was looking at her concerned sapphire. why was she acting so strange? had she done something wrong that she was unaware of? “ i’m not lost. ” she promised softly. “ i’m in traceless. ” she added, letting the other know she was fully aware of where she was. hearing the other’s slip up, sapphire rose a curious brow. “ you’re not yona though, are you? ” she asked curiously. “ it’s alright if you’re not, you can be honest about it. i’m -- not me either. ” she told the other with a delicate smile. “ my name is sapphire, but i believe i’m -- mac right now? ” she spoke with a shrug. and then it hit her -- the reason why the woman had been looking at her so funny. “ and i’m pretty sure the body i’m in is human, which would explain why you’ve been looking at me so oddly, wouldn't it? ”

LARK frowned and sighed. She was not sure how she was going to be able to get through any of this without a healthy dose of confusion. Imagining how her next shift at the hospital would go with the mismatched identities made her shudder. But Sapphire didn’t need to hear her ramble on about that problem. “ I don’t believe we have met, actually. My apologies if we do actually know each other and I am having a slip of memory, however. ” She wished she could manage to smile, but she was nervous too. “ Oh, and I don’t mind rambling. I do it rather often myself. Be as nervous as you need to be. Is there any way I can help you calm down? ”

SAPPHIRE was still kicking herself for rambling. she always felt like a loser when she did such a thing, but how could she not ramble in a situation like this? she was living inside of someone else’s body for crying out loud! it was nerve-wracking. “ no, i don’t think we have, so i’m sorry that we’re meeting for the first time in strange bodies. ” she told the other with a heavy sigh falling from her lips. when asked if there was any way to help her calm down, sapphire just offered the other a shrug. “ i dunno. can you think of anything? ”

SOFIA racked her brain, she had met so many people over the past 300 years that it was pretty easy to forget names if she didn’t see their faces or have a super strong bond with them. She decided that she’d just hope the other would fill her in once she said her own name. “ Sofia. ” She said with a slight bow of her head, “ Vampire normally, but I guess now I’m… ” she looked down at herself, at her hands that were not her hands, her hair that was similar to her hair but… not hers. “ I don’t know what I am? Maybe a werewolf? Witch? ” She felt something stirring in her but she couldn’t place it. She paused for a moment, actually taking in the other’s appearance. “ Wait, you’re in Mac’s body – is she in yours? ”

SAPPHIRE and sofia had never really crossed paths with each other, but she had heard the vampire’s name a time or two when she’d been hanging around town. “ i would say nice to meet you, sofia, but i don’t know if that’s the case? ” she offered with a light laugh. she watched as the other racked her brain trying to figure out what kind of being she was. “ i believe you’re in the body of a witch, but that’s just my assumption. ” she admitted with a shrug. when asked about being in mac’s body, saph nodded. “ yeah, she is. and let me tell you, it was weird to see myself without looking into a mirror. ”

JANE looked at Sapphire with wide eyes and nodded. “ I’ve never needed to put on a band aid on myself before. It always just healed. How do you put one on your own finger? ” She explained, offering the band aid. “ This isn’t my body and I don’t understand. ” Tears welled in her eyes.

“ accurate point. ” sapphire agreed with a nod. she honestly couldn’t recall the last time she’d used a band-aid herself, so she understood. “ it takes practice. ” she spoke with a shrug as she took the band-aid from the other, taking off the paper before carefully wrapping it around non-jane’s finger. “ if it makes you feel any better, i’m not in my own body either. ”

IT was interesting and worrying to watch Mac (or, well, not-Mac?) struggling. Watching seemed rude if she did not take any action, so Lark approached to see if there was anything she could do. Her senses were still good, but seemed to be better in different ways than they usually were. Everything felt sharper now that she wasn’t so hungry all the time. Whatever strange words not-Mac was saying, these were definitely not ones Mac would be caught saying. Lark shook her head. “ Ah, no. That absolutely confirms that, then. If you aren’t Mac, then who are you? And how can I help you? ” Lark found it simultaneously disturbing and comforting that she was not the only one stuck in this unfortunate situation. A one-off swap between two people that were on good but not close terms seemed random. More than one switch was something that might be fixed. “ I’m Lark. I’m not entirely sure whether or not we know one another, but hello. ” She was not sure if it was ‘nice to see’ anyone that was trapped in the wrong body, so she did not say that.

HEARING the other address her, sapphire shook her head as she glanced at the being before her. “ yeah, definitely not mac. ” she spoke with a shake of her head. “ i’m sapphire, mermaid sapphire, who’s currently not mermaid sapphire. ” she spoke, far quicker than she should. “ sorry, i tend to ramble when i’m nervous. ” she spoke with a sigh. when the other introduced themselves, sapphire smiled softly. “ hi lark! i don’t know if we’ve actually met. have we met? ”

MAYBE it was just because she was so used to traveling by tunnel, but Steffi was getting tired of the number of obstacles getting in the way of her getting from point A to B today. Still, walking on the surface wasn’t totally without disadvantages - it was nice to see some idiot who had given her a hard time last week fall face first over a bike rack. What was less entertaining was the way Oskar’s body, now calling after the bike rack victim, was now standing in her way. “ Get ahold of yourself, Katerina, ” Steffi admonished. Without her mind reading powers at her disposal it was a calculated guess that the person in Oskar’s body was his sister, but - after running into Oskar in Katerina’s body earlier, she was confident enough that it was worth the risk of possibly being wrong.

KATERINA was so caught up in apologizing to the other being that she hadn’t realized she’d been standing in steffi’s way until she’d heard the other call out -- in elaine’s voice, that is. turning to face the other, kat frowned when she heard steffi’s words. “ i’m sorry? ” she asked in a snarky tone. what exactly was she supposed to get ahold of? despite the other being in elaine’s body, katerina would know that undertone of voice anywhere. “ hello to you too, steffi. how exactly did you know it was me? ”

SHE decided to hold onto her phone for the rest of the day and try to at least figure out how she could come in contact with her supernatural clients. After learning how she wasn’t the only one who got body-swapped as well, she figured it might just be hopeless to get anything done at this rate. She was contemplating whether she should just call it a day and wait for the council to figure everything out, when someone called her over. She’d seen this one around, and from the scent of her she was… human, who was probably around a lot of vampires; a junkie, maybe. “ Excuse me? I’m not sure what you mean, ” she said, trying to feign nonchalance lest she might be mistaken. This human couldn’t have possibly been swapped as well. 

SAPPHIRE really was trying to get ahold of herself with this whole body swap thing, but she couldn't deny that it was a struggle. when the other being called out to her, sapphire smiled softly. “ hi! hi. sorry, i didn’t mean to disturb you. i just -- i’m trying to figure out if i’m the only one who’s...not me right now. ” she spoke with a sigh. noticing the other’s look, she rose a curious brow. “ why are you looking at me like that? ”

OSKAR’S shock at him being in Ivy’s body didn’t surprise him, honestly, what other reaction should someone have at seeing their brother in the body of a woman? But the giggling. Oskar almost never giggled, and when he spoke and said that he wasn’t himself Dom dropped Oskar’s shoulders confused – only to hear the word sibling a moment later. “ Kat?! ” he said, his voice squeaking in surprise. “ Wait – you and Oskar switched places? The hell is going on here? I woke up as Ivy, I think Ivy is in my body honestly i’m not sure. All I know is that the sun sucks in this body and I’m confused as hell. ”

KATERINA had to admit that seeing her brother in the body of a woman was nothing shy of amusing. this was more amusing than seeing oskar in her own body, which had just been weird in a way of it’s own. seeing the shock wash over dom’s features, katerina laughed once more. “ surprise? ” she offered with a playful shrug. “ yeah...i have no idea what’s going on, and quite frankly out of all the bodies i could have been placed in, i’m a little disturbed that the universe put me in the body of my brother. i can’t have fun with that, it would just be weird! ” she spoke with a grossed out expression. “ oh god, you’re a vamp! i didn’t even process that until now. god, that must suck. ” she spoke with a shake of her head. “ i hate this. ”

WAKING up underwater didn’t produce the calmest of reaction from Mac. She was convinced she had smoked way too much somehow, and then once she realized this actually was real she started to freak out thinking she was drowning. It took a while to puzzle together that she was in fact, not going to be meeting her untimely demise to water, and kind of just weirdly accepted that there was something weird going on with the whole fish person thing. 

THERE was a few hours of her excitedly jumping in and out of the water since it was hard to get the whole Little Mermaid experience being her usual human self, then a few more to fully process that she couldn’t even recognize herself in her reflection. There was probably a little too much under-reacting from Mac since she just shrugged the strange change off, and figured that she’d most likely get answers from some magic users in the hustle and bustle part of Traceless. The chaos of other people panicking was blissfully ignored by Mac until she heard someone nearby call out to her, only to be met with her own face. “ Ohhh shittttt, look it’s me! Wow I’m taller than I thought. Hold on- ” She fixed her shirt, and then rested her hands on what used to be her own face. “ -Is it weird that I kinda wanna kiss myself right now? Just to know what it’s like?…. Yeah that’s weird let’s take it back a bit. You still have my special bag in the back pocket right? ”

AS she waited for someone -- anyone -- to respond to her comment, sapphire turned back and just stared at her own reflection in the window of the shop. she wasn’t sure exactly what she was looking for in this stranger’s reflection. answers, maybe? or some kind of...comfort? being in someone else’s body was weird, and all she wanted was to find some part of herself that she could hold onto until she was able to be back in her own body. turning around, sapphire caught a glimpse of her own body and immediately perked up. “ and you’re me! or...not me, but kinda also me? ” she spoke, offering the other a shrug. “ wow this is weird. ” she added with a heavy sigh. “ i mean, yes that’s a little odd, but i also kinda understand where you’re coming from? ” sapphire spoke with a light laugh. when the other asked about the bag in her pocket, sapphire reached behind her and pulled it out, holding it in front of the other. “ you mean this? ” she asked with a curious expression. “ i don’t even know what it is, but i figured it was important to you. ” she spoke softly. “ wait! did you wake up with my tail? if so, please tell me you got a good swim in this morning!? ” she asked, overly excited. every morning when she woke up, sapphire always went for a good swim, and she would be totally bummed if the person who had use of her tail hadn’t taken advantage of it.

DOMINIC had woken up as Ivy…. in that sense he had been extremely luckily. Ivy was a woman he had had relations with, a woman he knew so well there were very few secrets between them, at least in the sense of things they needed to know to make it through whatever bullshit was being thrown at them in this moment.  He had slipped into the tunnels and made his way to his bar. When he exited he quickly made sure things were okay before he peeked out the front window and saw that it was rather cloudy outside… at least enough so he thought he could make it across the street and to his sister’s place – which is when he ran into someone else and half a second later tripped into a bike rack.

“ Fuck! ” he groaned and pushed himself up as his brain registered the voice “ Oskar?! ” he said quickly jumping up. “ Dude, ” he grabbed Oskar by the shirt and dragged him into the building closest to them and out of the slowly brightening street. “ It’s me. Dom. ”

WATCHING the other trip over the bike rack, katerina couldn’t help but feel awful. she knew that it was her fault, but she also knew that oskar was secretive about his true species, so she couldn’t exactly admit how she’d caused the other’s accident. she was about to speak up again, but was caught off guard when the woman pulled her into the closest building. hearing the woman claim to be her brother, kat arched oskar’s brows and started at the figure before her in shock. “ dom!? ” she called out curiously before bursting into a fit of giggles a second later. “ oh fuck, i almost forgot i’m not me. ” she spoke with a shake of her head. “ wrong sibling, dude. ” she teased, figuring he would realize it was her after such a statement.
