ok to start off, for the characters themselves you should check these: → spdt (also small note) ← (im referring to these tweets because ive never seen someone talk about him like genuinely talk about him so im very Very Grateful to have this so i dont have to info dump 99 paragraphs badly translated from chinese) (sprins himself is also making a full video explaining everything about spdt since all we had was a huggeee flowchart, ill be linking it here too once it come out)

for their relationship, these two actually met before (spdt sequel novel), but it was pacifist spdt, not geno. either way, spulb himself is pretty hostile towards him regardless. he got a short temper wkwwkwkww overall he just dislike other versions of himself.
going off from what sprins said and how he portrayed the two in memes (bro is reaching) they got a rivalry relationship, with spulb typically the one to bothers spdt,
and spdt doesnt really care that much. he doesnt care about anyone anymore now that his goal is fulfilled. plus he seems to stick around and just let spulb trample all over him just because its interesting and fun. although complete silence doesnt bother him either, he can just fill in himself.
speaking of which, spdt seems to have a normal friendship with other sprins' characters. rivalry only happens with spulb specifically. even then, he doesnt care. unless you provoke him, hes just a crazy guy youd see on the street who talk nonsense and throw himself off the river or something. i guess that pisses spulb off that spdt is so carefree.
i dont know if spulb know that paci spdt and geno spdt are the same, but if he does, that might be why hes so hostile towards him.
As For My Thing Uh. Like. In My™ Version of Spulbdt its pretty much the same, the only thing thats new is me adding pre-spulbdt stuff. ↓↓
spulb and spdt are still normal sanses here, but spulb was still actively being into scifi science stuff compare to a normal sans, spdt is still nervous and paranoid about things. yknow casual spdt stuff.
the machine was fixed for both of them. the reason for spdt's machine being fixed was that he wanted to try to go back and fix a timeline. the reason for spulb's was that he just wanted to tinker around like usual. (going off of the sequel novel, current spulb does have the ability to hop between timelines, so maybe past spulb have some sort of fascination for multiverses? maybe that's what prompted gaster to show him the Horrors™ that drove him to suicide. spulb was capable.)
to their surprise the machine worked and connected them to each other. it started out like how youd react when you see another version of yourself. except with the unexpected enthusiasm from spulb
they hang out for a whileeeeee. getting used to each other's company, eventually developing a bond. until one day spdt just doesnt respond anymore, which spulb was horrified about.
anyway the main event happened for both and here They Are. spulb is extremely pissed that spdt became the way he is. he killed himself for the greater good, to protect those he loves and care about, only for his friend to go ahead and kill those very same people in his universe without any remorse, claiming that its also for the greater good or whatever. id be pissed too.
spdt doesnt recognize spulb after getting pushed to the brink of insanity. which makes him doesnt care at all. (i guess that what makes him get along with spins, cuz theyre both insane and doesnt care..??? either way, they have a far better relationship than spulbdt.)
spulb still have this fondness for spdt, so as much as he hates spdt for what he did, hes also hurt that the latter doesnt recognize him and their friendship.
