Cowabunga!
Selling my puppets at The Michigan Renaissance Festival and this happened. She could have picked a fairy or princess puppet but she went right for the dragon. I loved it!
Wampa inspired puppet!!
Here are two of my latest puppets. I called Cthulhu cute, but don't think he is supposed to be cute, oh well. I still like him!
Hmmm I just love hanging out in the hammock!
My new puppet based on the character Monkey d luffy. Not bad, I already want to make changes. I think I always do after I do a puppet for the first time! In any case I really do like him!
Here are the latest puppets. Batman, Robin and the Joker.

My latest custom puppet. This guy is for a comic book Solution Squad. I met the creator of Solution Squad at the Cherry Capitol Comic Con a couple of weekends ago. This is the first of the characters that will be made into puppets. I love my job! This is so cool! This guys name is Radical. I can't wait to see him in action. There will be videos! I will be posting them!
Star Wars stormtrooper.
Star Trek The Original Series puppets... Spock and Sulu.. Spock's ears are a little out of control.... I like it.. :)
My latest puppet... my first attempt at Chewbacca, or any star wars character. I wish I had better fur, but overall not bad...
so, I'm making a 'small mouth' puppet (Zoot, to be exact) I've got the mouth cut out, any suggestions on a mouth plate?
OOoo, FANTASTIC~!
Well I more have a suggestion on what not to use to support the mouth.
Right here was the basic structure I that’s in the head of my puppet. Most online guides were like “~*~USE STYROFOAM~*~” but the Styrofoam I found wasn’t cheap (I’ll probably look into buying it cheaper online if I can since I can probably have a lot more supported puppet if I had used it). There’s some more cardboard I added along the top and back, but overall this is basically everything supporting the head (though I did fold extra felt into the head so maybe that helped too). I should also note that while I looked at guides, I didn’t use any guides to make this, it’s amazing the puppet actually is useable (I’m actually probably gonna have to hot glue it some more in a few places OTL)…
ANYWAY.
For the mouth, I used a rather rigid cardboard I had lying around, which provides descent support—HOWEVER, it provides no flexibility. So if I wanted to do Kermit-like mouth movement, I couldn’t with it. I had been suggested by a friend to use foam, but then my friend pointed out that it might not be supportive enough for the mouth…although there is a thicker type of foam I’ve seen at Michaels that I might consider using next time…
As for Zoot, the mouth structure doesn’t seem to be as large a part as it would be for Kermit or another large mouthed puppet, so you might be able to get away with using a type of foam, which will provide more flexibility in the mouth…
Anyone is free to chip in on their thoughts as well, I’d be interested to hear especially from more experienced individuals *_*
yeah this
So I use1/2 inch upholstery foam backed with rigid lightweight plastic or cardboard for my mouth plates. They give some flexibility but still are pretty stable. Depending on how your constructing your mouth this might work for you. Anyway. I have a picture of the inside of a mouth before it gets attached to the felt. I hope this helps a little.
Only problem is Zoot’s mouth is small and oval shaped
You can make a mouth like this any shape, any size. The mouth I have pictured just happened to be one I had made already for something I was working on. It does get harder to work with when it is a small mouth but not impossible! Carry on.... I'm sure you'll find a way to do it. In whatever medium you find works best. I found that I figured out way more stuff when I just started trying everything and seeing what didn't work as to what did. I have tried just heavy cardboard covered in felt.. but it's not my favorite method. For a small mouth it might work though.

REBLOG this if you wish someone who lives far away lived closer.
Bob the Zombie... I just love him. I have had him for awhile. I made him at Halloween last year. I thought he would be a huge success. I guess he wasn't zombie enough... or something. People commented that he was ok, or that he was cool, but no one has even really expressed interest in purchasing him. I wonder why? He has been at every show and up on my Etsy site for months.... Back to the drawing board I go for a new Zombie look. Less cute Zombie and more blood and guts?? What are your thought?
So here they are. The Star Trek TNG series. I love them! well most of them... some of them I could work on again. I still might. If they were not all in a group would you know who they were?? no. that means I might need to go back to the drawing board. Overall I am super pleased. I can't wait to debut them at CherryCaptial Comic Con in a few weeks.
