In the TMNT 2003 series Usagi’s clothes are super simplified - to a point where people think he’s wearing capris and a t-shirt with rolled up sleeves. So in hopes of fixing this misinterpretion, here’s a little guide on how to draw (and describe ^-^) Usagi’s clothes in a more detailed way. Hope it’s of use!

Regarding Mikey's freckles: The Nick toons start in 2012 was the main origin off course, but the 2007 movie also spawned some fan art of it. I guess in some lighting Mikey (and Don too, actually) could appear to have some freckles. And I'm totally on board with drawing 2k3 with freckles too, he looks cute as eff with them in your style!

Aah thank you! I knew there must have been something else behind Mikey's freckles other than the obvious 2k12 series design choice. One could even claim that fan art has had a major influence on the shows cutesy designs. I couldn't find an artwork of Mikey, but (young)Donnie was indeed portrayed freckled by one artist in the 2009 fanbook. Interesting!
