Stop-Motion Animated Cactus #1: an Example of a Naturally Occurring "Bloom" from John Edmark on Vimeo.
This is a stop-motion animation of a cactus on a turntable. For each frame of the animation the cactus is rotated 137.5Âşâthe golden angleâwhich creates the illusion that the areoles are emerging from the center of the cactus. The reason this works is that the cactus grows by producing new areoles one at a time, with each new areole positioned 137.5Âş around the center from the previous areole. So, in a sense, the animation reiterates the cactus's growth process. (The irregularity of the movement is due to the areoles not being perfectly consistent in their placement.)
Nature uses this same growth pattern in a wide variety of plant forms, including pine cones, sunflowers, artichokes, and many succulents. If you count the number of spirals on any of these plants you will find that they are always Fibonacci numbers.
I have created a unique type of sculpture I call a "bloom", which has the same golden-angle-based structure, and thus appears to come to life when rotated in the same manner. You can see examples of blooms here: vimeo.com/117674269, and learn more about how they are made here: instructables.com/id/Blooming-Zoetrope-Sculptures/
Stop Motion Kessler Crane from Guerillabytemedia on Vimeo.
A short clip of Guerillabyte Media Resources Stop Motion Crane test shoot. Utilizing a cheap pulley, carabiniere, some cable and a tape we were able to control the vertical motion of the Kessler 12' crane with the Kessler Cine Slider driven by the 100 series motor and Oracle controller. Using the Revolution head attached to the crane we set out to create a 500 frame stop motion jib shot. Although this was our first attempt the results show great potential for this rig and will be used in Timelapse and Stop motion productions in the future.
This was shot on Sony NEX FS700 with Canon 100mm 2.8L Macro and a Canon 5Dmk3 with Canon 16-35mm 2.8L

An Unlikely Ride: Binary Bike Stop Motion Video from Binary Bike on Vimeo.
Take three parts equal love for shooting photos, editing video, and riding bikes. Next toss in that nagging impulse to do something different, even if it requires hours of torturous work, and this video is what you get. In case your eyes deceive you, this is a stop-motion video. Every frame of the video is a photograph, the rider and the bike laying posed on a concrete floor. The ground and trees were later drawn on each photo with a digital pen. Weeks of planning, thirty-five hours of photography totally 1000 pictures, followed by fifty long hours at the computer editing photos, audio, and video. 10,000 minutes of combined work for a two minute video? All worth it if it puts a smile on your face and sparks some creativity in your mind. Thanks for watching.

đ¨This is a Red Alert for net neutrality đ¨
Last December, the FCC voted to to kill net neutrality. If we do not take action, this will kill the free and open internet as we know it. The internet needs youâall of youâto make sure your voices are heard NOW.
We need all hands on deck for this one. It may be our last chance. If youâre feeling under-informed and overwhelmed about why net neutrality is so incredibly important, we have this handy guide just for you.
Hereâs what you can do to save the internet:
In mid-May, the Senate will vote on a resolution to overrule the FCC using the Congressional Review Act (CRA). We only need one more vote in the Senate to win. Write or call your Senators or Representatives. You can also text BATTLE to 384-387 to get more information on how to write to your reps. You can do this, Tumblr.
Join us and dozens of your other favorite companies like Etsy, Vimeo, Reddit, and GitHub to raise awareness with the Red Alert campaign being run by Battle for the Net. Just add this small widget to your Tumblr to let your followers know how they can contact their reps. Itâs as easy as copying and pasting the small line of code right into the customize theme page on the web.
This is important. This matters. Itâs up to you to help.Â
