feels strange to say this anywhere but Here, but

I’ve never been MORE agnostic than this year. Dunno if this is grief talkin’, not being able to process this loss… I did the bedside at the hospital, went through the motions of the funeral with the church and the burial. Followed the instructions. Do you wanna be left alone with him? He’s in a coma. He’s dead. Do you talk at his grave? To what ears? I pass by the cemetery, I touch the stone. I don’t know what else to do. He’s not here.

I talk about him. I smile. I laugh. I remember him. I’m trying to let myself feel it. Even when I’m pissed that I can’t stop crying. They don’t really talk about the unmentioned steps of grief, huh? Where you gotta grit ya teeth and be polite when people think they’re helping?

chronic pain cody.    hangovers and black eyes.  splinters!  blood dripping from several open wounds.    VS!    the common fuckin’ cold.

stole ‘em blue eyes from boss,  but that left one there got brown specks of shit floating ‘round.

ambidextrous.  (that’s a big word for elmo!)  grew up favoring his left,  had no choice to depend on the right after injury.

usually can be seen with the same pencil  (short and nibbled on, eraser gone to shit)  tucked behind his ear.  ‘specially when he’s working but left forgotten even when he ain’t.
