Don’t worry, you don’t need to have an answer. But we want you to know that if you’re going through something difficult, you don’t have to go through it alone.
Today, Tumblr is proud to be kicking off #PostItForward, along with our friends Elizabeth Banks, Brittany Snow, Jordin Sparks, Wendy Williams, Pete Wentz, Aija Mayrock, First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray, and Vice President Joe Biden. The idea is simple: If you have a positive message that helped you through a tough time, you should tell people that advice. Someone out there needs to hear it.
Luckily, you’ve got ways to share it. You’ve got your Tumblr, you’ve got your other social media feeds, you’ve got the whole internet at your disposal. Tell your story wherever you want to tell it, and tag that story #PostItForward.
All you need to do is grab a camera (like the one that’s probably on the device you’re using right now, hint hint) and start talking.
Tell everyone who you are. (You don’t have to use your real name, of course.)
Say what you’re here to talk about, and what positive message you’d like to share with anyone who’s going through hard times. If you’ve been through hard times yourself, feel free to say as much or as little about that as you want.
Then ask your audience to #PostItForward in turn. Ask them to share your video wherever they think there might be someone who needs to hear what they’re saying, and urge anyone else with something to say to come out, shine bright, and say it.
Don’t feel like being on camera? No problem, just write a text post. Or take a selfie. We made a Post It Forward selfie GIF maker especially for this campaign. Get a sign, write in who or what you’re posting it forward for, and say cheese. Really, just use whatever medium you feel most comfortable in, and just talk. The more people we get talking, the more support we’ll all be able to find in each other. #PostItForward is where a conversation turns into a community.
