Two African-American students at the Navy Hill School in Richmond, Virginia. April 10, 1958. Navy Hill was a residential neighborhood in Richmond that had a thriving African-American community. Today, nothing more than memorial markers mark what was once Navy Hill. Navy Hill School was the first public school in Richmond to hire black teachers.
