“okay, listen beom, you can’t lose your head,” iori said seriously, arms crossed over their chest. “here’s a tip; you really need to stop being such a weenie.” // @rvbeomsoo·

beom paused and looked over at iori as soon as he heard their sudden jokes about himself, but couldn’t help but laugh at them. “do you not have anything else to do?”

“that’s more tedious than confusing, but i totally get you. i’m sure it takes a lot of perseverance to like…get up and keep going after all that.”

“yeah, you’re probably right,” beomsoo shrugged, “i dunno if it’s perseverance or just being stubborn, i think a lot of other radioactive trainees at that time just took them closing down as a hint that being in a group wasn’t going to work out.”

miran.

“they could never get rid of you, though. you’re too talented. plus, then there’d be an uneven amount of members in the group, and i think that alone would give doona an aneurysm,” miran joked. “hey now! i am a doting, loving, proud mother– not a hoarder. your father? maybe a hoarder. but i am just supportive.”

"yeah, you’re right. they’d hate having to tell her they have a group now with eleven members,” beomsoo laughed softly in agreement, though he conveniently didn’t respond to his mom’s compliments. he shook his head, “supporting his hoarding just enables him, there’s been a unicycle leaning against the kitchen counter for the past like three months and every time we’re all home we all just walk around it like it’s not there.”

giselle.

“of course i would!” giselle replied, smiling back at him. “i’d probably put it in my phone case and everything! maybe not the clear one– that might get us all in trouble. but still!” a lot of the feelings beom had, gigi had too. there was often a disconnect in her brain about who she was. even now that she had lines, she still kind of felt like the useless member of reign. beom was such a good, kind man– not to mention incredibly attractive. the idea that he’d like her, especially as she got older and older, boggled her mind. “well, if they add one, i expect a signed photocard promptly after. and i’ll hold you to that.”

beom shook his head as he softly laughed off how nice giselle was being to him, feeling his cheeks burn slightly from blushing a little. “i can always get you one from one of our earlier comebacks if you want, but i think they’re all a little old now. should i be collecting reign ones?” he wasn’t kidding when he asked her, but beomsoo figured that unfortunately he probably couldn’t get away with putting a photocard of her in the back of his phone  ––  though then again his label had him keep his phone out of plain sight enough already that beom wondered if it would even make a difference. “okay, if i ever take a new photocard i promise you’ll be the first to get one. should we start trading them with each other or something?”

miran.

“i’m sure they would have noticed pretty quickly had you been pulled from the group entirely,” miran countered with a wry smile, poking her son’s cheek. “i have a nice collection of all yours, noeul’s and nari’s memorabilia. but i guess i can survive without one photocard. don’t know about the rest of your fans, though.”

“yeah, you’re right,” beomsoo replied as she poked him, not wanting to think about how much harder it probably would’ve been for distich to not deal with the scandal if they had come back from him being fully kicked out. he laughed softly at her second comment, still feeling a slight sense of embarrassment for his mom collecting practically anything that had to do with his siblings, and now his, careers while he was already twenty-six. “that’s because you guys are hoarders,” he half-joked, “except dad holds onto actually weird things from shows either of you have done.”

gigi.

gigi frowned. she felt guilty sometimes– the only thing that kept her from being in beomsoo’s shoes was luck. “well….as much as i would have loved to shell out on e-bay for a beom photocard, i’m more happy you got to keep your position in your group. i’m sure your fans feel the same way,” she reassured him

“... you would?” beomsoo glanced over at gigi once he heard her comment, it sounded a little stupid even to himself, but thankfully he had caught himself from just asking really? out of some small disbelief that she liked something about him. he shrugged sheepishly, “i wouldn’t put it past new age to make me have one if they ever restock the album in the future and would hope no one notices it was missing the first time.”

“so i left thailand to be in a chinese girl group…..moved to korea when that didn’t work…..and then debuted in a chinese girl group…” achara sighed, wry smile playing at her lips. “i think i have the most convoluted backstory around.”

“yeah, i thought my time as a trainee was confusing,” beomsoo conceded, “six years into the first time the whole company closed down and i pretty much started over.”

pansy.

“i remember after seola left, the next time spotlight printed our previous albums, they made sure no photocards of her were manufactured,” pansy said thoughtfully. “i wonder if new age will do the reverse. like maybe once everything dies down, they’ll start adding photocards of you into albums. then maybe there can be a narrative about them being extra rare or something.”

“yeah, i’m glad new age didn’t have to go that far,” he admitted, still genuinely relieved that he hadn’t had to leave the group altogether. “you’re right, though, maybe they should’ve had me take pictures with all the other members that they could use when they print more later.”

“i mean, i wouldn’t notice i don’t think. but i don’t think i’m really your target demographic,” casey answered. “i think my mom collects my sister’s photocards– i’m sure there are fans that collect yours. maybe they’ll clue in.”

“wow, you’re not a distich fan? that hurts,” beomsoo feigned offense that casey’s question. in all honesty, he didn’t personally care if the other guy paid any attention to distich’s last comeback. “my mom has all of my brother’s photocards, and i’m pretty sure we have a poster or something from everything my sister’s been in. i’m not sure if my mom has any of distich’s comebacks before this, though.”

yeong.

“You’re asking the wrong guy, Beomsoo,” Yeong replied. He fell less and less into the typical idol territory with each passing year–he couldn’t even recall the last time they had him take pictures for photocards. But then again, it had been a while since he had a physical album to put out. “I think it’ll probably take a while, because sometimes they print more of some members than others. They’ll probably think you’re one of the rare ones.”

“please, you say that like you don’t have fans,” beomsoo teased. he knew that yeong actually was as humble as he often came off, but that didn’t mean beomsoo didn’t notice how successful his friend still was. “if people would go and buy a physical copy of an OST just because you have a song on it, i’m sure they would also collect a little card with your face on it.”

“no one cares. i definitely didn’t spend my entire allowance so i could trade a haena photocard for a starr one in fifth grade,” seyeon mumbled, not at all sounding convincing. “i bet no one’s noticed….”

“do people really like photocards that much?” beom laughed, “i threatened to trade noeul’s when he first debuted, but i didn’t know that people actually liked trading them with each other.”

yein.

“there are collectors who drop insane amounts of money so they can own every version of every photocard from every comeback– solo or reign– that i’ve had in the past ten years,” yein responded. “people take their collectibles very seriously.”

beomsoo paused, knowing that yein was right. “yeah but, not to put distich down, i doubt i have fans at the level that you do. it’d be great if we could one day have an impact like reign’s had, but i think it’s a little early for me to try to say that.”

“i really don’t know how long it’ll take for distich fans to notice that they all happened to get everyone else’s photocards,” beom admitted, shrugging slightly after he spoke. if anything, he was just thankful that he was in the promotions for their comeback –– he didn’t care about a tiny photo of him being included now that he got to be included their first album at all. maybe it wouldn’t be for a little while longer that people started realize that there was only eleven in total this time. “do people even care about those anyway?”

“Beom… it’s whipped coffee, not just regular coffee.”

Beomsoo shrugged, still finding it kind of pointless to whip coffee when he didn’t think there was anything wrong with coffee in the first place. “...Was it any good?”

“You know… I really think I take issue with how tiktok made whipped coffee look like it’s super easy and quick to make. Do you know how long I was standing around just whisking it? It was ages, I swear,” Hinata complained, though she knows it was an incredibly silly complaint.

“wait, why would you need a whisk to make coffee?”

“you have got  to be fucking kidding me,” seola growled, all but throwing her phone at a wall. “i release my first song in fucking months, and spotlight decides that right then is the best time to have juliette come back. and then dispatch has the fucking gall to call me by a dead stage name i’ve been clear i don’t want to be called……. they’re lucky i don’t burn down their whole company building.”

beomsoo glanced over once noticed seola justifiably get frustrated at the article he figured she was looking at. he knew that he of all people probably wasn’t in the best place to offer advice to anyone else, not that he thought he could offer anything that actually would make her feel any better anyway. he shrugged, offering her somewhat of a smile, “... it’s not much but if it makes you feel any better, dispatch used to get to call me ‘bomb.’”

“you know, i’m kind of dreading terra becoming more successful.” suda remarked, her tone somehow both amused and dismayed. “like, yeah, i want to perform and make a name for myself, but i also just completely pretended to not speak korean when someone tried to sell me something on the street coming here - i can’t get away with that any more if everyone knows me and knows i can!”

“my mom used to have me pretend not to know korean growing up so she wouldn’t have to talk to people in public sometimes, i still don’t know how that ever worked,” beom laughed, “i think it’s kinda inevitable that terra is gonna keep blowing up though, too many people always want more music from you guys.”
