“Experts say there’s no correlation between these two things, but we just aren’t positive yet,” Baohui said with a laugh. “I like it, too. Almost got lost trying to find the way back to my room the first night, though…  but yeah, it’s cool that we can hang out with them. When they’re around, anyway.”

“pretty soon, they’re going to have to add on a whole other floor on top of our building to house all the new members,” he snorted. “yeah, same but.... it’s kind of like a new school. seems big and confusing for the first week until you get the hang of it.” he paused. “maybe its good that there’s always someone promoting. i feel like if everyone from both groups were here at the same time, that’s when thing’ll get a little bloated. or, at the very least, the wifi would have a hard time.”

“we just need to go back in time, before everyone had to do hard dancing. empire did barely any choreography at all– why can’t we do that?”

“imagine a group our size pulling that. just twelve+ tall trees standing singing into mics. absolute bliss.”

“you fancy me? what are you, british?” she muttered under her breath, staring at the floor as she turned redder and redder. “you’re not making fun of me, are you? like you say that to get a reaction and then go laugh to your friends?”

“you’re deflecting,” he answered, letting out a breath he didn’t know he was holding to laugh. he paused though, looking at her in concern. “no, of course i’m not-- has that happened to you before?” he asked genuinely. “no, i mean it, liyang. i swear to god.”

“i can handle being at the back,” he surrendered. “especially if baohui is in front of me. he’s tall.”

“that’s the spirit.... i think,” sangmin laughed. “you’re better than you give yourself credit for, raein. keep working, and you won’t have anything to be nervous about.”

“honestly, i’m just grateful to have debuted and not be ridiculously dysphoric about it, so lore or not, i’ll take it,” they admitted.

“we’re all really happy for you,” sangmin insisted genuinely, patting his friend on the back. “you’re talented, and a hard worker. and a really pleasant person to be around. and here, that’s all that matters.”

“i would think that would be more stressful, but i guess all twenty of you aren’t in the same room,” nathan replied with a tiny smile. “does make sense to settle  yourself there, though. it would suck to get attached to the creed dorm only to never get to go back.”

“no, our new dorms are actually really cool,” sangmin insisted with a smile. “new age basically bought out an entire apartment complex and got it fitted. byulbit and scope get, like, two floors each, and we’re all broken up into apartments with only four or five of us in each of those units. it’s nice-- we all kind of get our own space, but we’re all together.”

“and why shouldn’t you? you’re family,” jinhwa insisted. “it’s only weird if you make it weird.’“

“i suppose, if you put it that way.... i think i’ll still just wait until one of you are home, though...”

“use someone else as a prop! maybe raein– he’s taller. and built like a man’s man. i’m not going to hide anyone with this figure,” quyen insisted

“no, raein and i have talked. we’re both terrible dancers,” sangmin answered. “if i hide behind him, it’ll only make us stand out for being bad more, obviously.”

she’d thought it’d been weird that he’d asked her to come to the shared rec room. like, usually they ended up spending time there anyway– they didn’t need to set a time to do it. and this ? it made her more nervous. “are you sick or something?” she asked bluntly

“no, i’m not sick. you’re safe-- i won’t spread anything,” he laughed, turning a little red. “no uh..... i’ve been thinking lately and.....i really fancy you, liyang. and i just wanted to talk about it with you and see where we stand before we both get really busy.”

“It probably got less crowded by the week, considering how the show was. Seems to be the complete opposite here,” Baohui laughed. “I think they sort of did already, moving us to the new dorm building and all… I wonder if they’re going to have to create sub-sub-labels for Byulbit eventually.”

“there’s an old urban legend that every tiem idol project has an elimination, four more people are added to our dorm....” sangmin joked, snorting. “i’m surprised they haven’t done that already! like, other groups usually partner with other companies for foreign distribution. i think it’s a testament to the pull new age really has that they haven’t had to do that...” he shrugged. “i like the new dorm building, though. it’s a lot bigger. and it’s nice that we can hang out with the byulbit members too...”

“yeah, it’s cool! i’m a little worried i’m not going to be able to keep up though,” he admitted shyly. “i’m not the best dancer…”

“neither am i,” sangmin answered with a tiny smile. “it’ll just take a lot of practice and focus, yeah? i have no doubt that we can do it. and if we can’t, they can just put us in the back of the formations...”

“you know, maybe that’s the plan. i’d be pretty impressed if they planned that far ahead,” junxi laughed

“well, you’ve seen the terra lore. i wouldn’t put it past our ceo to have crazy ideas like that.”

“i split my time between the two,” nathan said with a tiny smile. when i’m promoting, or really need to work on something with joonie and noah, i sleep in the dorms. but on my off time most of the time, i stay at home,” he explained. “what about you? creed dorms or scope?”

“depends on the project, really. what’s going on and all,” sangmin admitted. “but if neither is promoting, i stay at the scope dorms. there’s more people there, which to me is nice, because i like being around friends. and it’s going to be my permanent dorm once creed slows down anyway.”

“i have never danced so hard in my entire life. whatever it is, i’m too gay and fragile to keep up,” quyen answered dramatically. “really. i might as well quit now before it gets too bad.”

“you’re not allowed to quit! i need you so i can use you as a prop to hide behind when i need to hit a high note and don’t want to dance,” sangmin whined.

“dude, you’re allowed over whenever you want,” nathan assured his cousin, nodding. “just shoot one of us a text. dad or hojung are probably your best bet, since they’re home the most, but they’ll let you in.”

“i guess, but i still wanted to ask,” sangmin insisted, blushing slightly. “i’ll take note of that! do you still have a room there, or are you strictly juno dorms these days?”

“honestly, yeah, but you didn’t have to ask,” jinhwa giggled. “you could just show up, and no one would care! no one could be home, but you could use the spare key to let yourself in, and i bet when dad would get home he wouldn’t even bat an eye.”

“just because i could doesn’t mean i should,” sangmin snorted, rolling his eyes at her. “i would feel so weird just...letting myself into your house like that. it feels so wrong.”
