3. First ever ship and why: Eren/Armin (I still ship it) because I am a sucker for childhood friends to lovers relationships. But seriously, I ship it because Armin inspired Eren to dream of the outside world and realize that they weren’t safe just where they were and they should fight for freedom. 

He gave Eren a purpose and gave him hope. Eren protected Armin from bullies and believed in Armin when others didn’t. EREN SACRIFICING HIMSELF TO SAVE ARMIN FROM THE TITAN’S MOUTH. Armin brought Eren back to his senses (many times) by reminding him of their mutual desire to see the outside world. The dream to see the ocean is important to Armin and Eren wants to protect that because he dreams of the same thing. It’s inspiring to Eren because he knows Armin isn’t that strong, Armin knows the outside is filling with titans and death but he’s still willing to fight for it. It’s because of this that Eren is able to push forward and block the hole in the wall. When Armin is being eaten by the titan and Eren is pretty much dead, it’s Armin’s voice that makes him conscious, and it’s Armin’s voice that regains him control of his titan body. 

When Eren is eaten, Armin goes crazy. He hates himself for being weak and need saving all the time. He knows he needs to be stronger like Eren. He’s too distraught by what just happened in front of him that he doesn’t even notice Eren’s first transformation happening in front of him. He becomes suicidal, wishing he had died, and later telling Mikasa to leave him behind to die because to him Eren = dream = goal. To Eren, Armin = dream = goal. So without Eren, he became lost. He had no family and now he had no dreams, and he thinks he has no friends either. They both need each other to keep moving forward, to give each other hope, and have a reason to keep fighting. 

I really wrote a lot more than I expected to. :O
